Cortica Sick Policy for Families
Updated April 18, 2023
Masking Policy
Cortica continues to follow the latest CDC guidelines for healthcare settings. Please note that masking is still required for families, teammates, visitors, and others in areas that are subject to local mask mandates. Conversely, masks are not required at Cortica centers that are not covered by a local mask mandate. In areas where masks are not required:
• If you are experiencing any symptoms of illness, we recommend that you wear a mask
• You are welcome to continue wearing a mask if you feel more comfortable doing so, or if you are concerned about any recent potential exposures that you believe would put others at risk
• We recognize that teammates, families, and others may have varying viewpoints regarding masks, and we ask that you respect others’ decisions, even if they differ from your own. However, we also understand that some families may want their child’s therapists to wear a mask due to certain concerns or circumstances. If you have any concerns related to your child’s therapists wearing a mask, please speak with them directly.
If you have questions regarding mask mandates, please contact your local Cortica center to confirm masking policies as needed.
We practice the following safety precautions:
In-Center Safety
Our sick child policy is as follows:
- Please keep your child at home if you observe a fever over 100 F or symptoms suggestive of COVID-19: Cough, congestion, runny nose, sore throat, sneezing, shortness of breath, fatigue, aches, chills, or loss of smell/taste. Additionally, please keep your child at home if they have symptoms of any other communicable conditions such as pink eye or hand, foot, and mouth disease. Your child must be free of symptoms including fever, diarrhea, and vomiting at least 24 hours before resuming sessions. If these symptoms are from routine seasonal allergies, speak with your pediatrician or contact our center to help determine the best course of action.
- COVID-19: Sessions may resume after your child has quarantined for five (5) days from the onset of symptoms or from the first date of the positive COVID-19 test, whichever came first
For your family’s protection, Cortica sanitizes rooms, toys, and equipment before and after use
In-Home Safety
We require that all Cortica teammates wear masks for in-home care wherever required by local mandates. If you have questions regarding mask mandates, please contact your local Cortica center for confirmation.
In-School Safety
We require our therapists to follow the masking and COVID-19 safety guidelines of the school.
Vaccination Policy
Full COVID-19 vaccination is required for all in-person teammates in Los Angeles County, San Francisco County, and the state of New Jersey. It is not mandatory but highly encouraged in Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Texas.
