Announcing a Virtual Reality Study

Cortica is Partnering with Floreo to Conduct Social Communication

Research

Cortica’s partners at Floreo have created an investigational virtual reality (VR) platform for learners whose treatment goals include social communication

About This Study

This study is investigating if the Floreo curriculum can help children with autism build their social communication skills.

How To Participate

If you are interested in participating, we will first invite you and your child to try VR to make sure your child is comfortable with the technology.

If you choose to join the study:

Your child will randomly be assigned to one of two groups in the study (you will not know which one until after 12 weeks)

Your child will spend a maximum of 20 minutes per session using VR, for a total of 12 weeks After 12 weeks, the Floreo group will no longer use VR, but will have some check-in visits. The other group will have the choice to crossover and continue to use VR with the Floreo lessons. You can choose not to crossover, which means that you will no longer use VR, but will have some check-in visits. You will answer a questionnaire about your child’s VR use after the sessions and receive a check-in from our team

Three months after the 12-week session, your child will attend a final session in clinic

You will receive compensation for your time in the form of gift cards

Eligibility

You may be eligible to participate if your child is: 5-18 years old

Receiving care at a Cortica facility at least two times a week

Available for up to 24 weeks of in-clinic VR use

Benefits of Participating

Participants will:

Experience an investagational therapy option at no additional cost
