Corrosive environments such as those found in high-corrosion environments can benefit from ASTM A423 GR 1 tubes. In these tubes, carbon is in the range of 0.15 max, phosphorus is in the range of 0.06–0.16, manganese is in the range of 0.55 max, sulphur is in the range of 0.60 max, silicon is in the range of 0.10 min, copper is in the range of 0.20–0.60, chromium is in the range of 0.24–1.31 and nickel is in the range of 0.20–0.70. The A423 Gr 1 grades help improve the tube quality and make it the first choice when constructing tubes of high quality. As a result of the high carbon, manganese, and sulphur content, the material is highly resistant to acidic environments, outstandingly resistive to oxidative environments, and has high resistance to crevice corrosion.
