Vision Prayer 1st Reading

Heavenly Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, we the faithful of Corpus Christi Parish, ask that You bless and sanctify us as we work together to implement our Vision. We ask that You guide us as we strive to love bravely, to serve radically and to meet all whom we encounter with humility and compassion. Help us to unite joyfully and lovingly as followers of your Son, Jesus, to take His message with us wherever we go. We know that by Your grace, we can make this Vision a reality. We ask this in the name of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Corpus Christi St. Francis Wolfville SSVP Christmas Sharing Campaign Wolfville/Canning Conference The St Francis Conference of the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP) Christmas Campaign is underway for another year. Due to Covid 19, we are once again asking for financial help rather than providing tags with gift suggestions. You can drop a cheque in the collection plate, send an e-transfer or mail a donation. Be sure to include a note that your donation is for SSVP St Francis Christmas to make sure your donation goes to the right place. Include your envelope number. Or you may contact any Vincentian who will ensure your donation is used for the Christmas Campaign. We also happily deliver any baking supplies and

seasonal treats/stocking stuffers that people may wish to donate.

Dear friends, Nova Scotia is currently experiencing a housing crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the challenge of finding safe, affordable housing. Many people across the province are facing the prospect of spending the winter living in a tent. Corporal acts of mercy, including sheltering those who go without, are central to our Christian faith and teachings. These are not optional projects – we are called to love “not in word or speech, but in truth and action” (1 John 3:18). I invite you to help construct 15-20 temporary emergency crisis shelters, each one housing a single occupant. These are not long-term solutions, but they are a way to immediately provide support and dignity to some of our brothers and sisters who are without shelter. These shelters will be located on parish property around the diocese. We currently have eight potential sites identified, with each site accommodating one to five shelters. We are working with government and non-government service organizations to help us find people who are currently seeking shelter. These shelters have been professionally designed in accordance with safety and municipal standards. Each temporary shelter will cost $11,500. The total cost of 20 of these emergency shelters is expected to be $230 000 – all of which we need to raise, as soon as possible, through donations and private grants. This is a major undertaking that will require generosity of time, talent, and treasure from our entire community. But this is who we are called to be as Catholics – this is how we are called to live the Gospel in our present time and place.

Please give generously by making a donation through our website, calling (902) 429-9800 ext. 312, or putting an envelope labelled "Emergency Shelters Project" in your parish collection basket this weekend . (emphasis added) Sincerely in Christ, +Brian Joseph Dunn Archbishop of Halifax-Yarmouth

Needs your Help It's a busy place these days at the Daily Bread Outreach take out service at Saint Mary’s Cathedral. Outreach offers a takeout lunch Tuesday to Thursday and a hot meal on Fridays. Sixty to 90 persons who are homeless or experiencing low income resources are served each day. The first three weeks of each month are the busiest particularly the week before cheque time (e.g. Income Assistance, Pensions/GST, etc.).

Outreach is inviting parishes to consider sponsoring a specific item for a month or a quarter or a year as an ongoing project for the parish over the coming year. In one instance, Good Shepherd Parish, through the Knights of Columbus is partnering with Outreach, delivering bottled water monthly for Outreach guests (e.g. 300 bottles/wk, 1200 bottles a month). Additional volunteers are also needed, especially in the mornings in the prep of sandwiches, take out bags, and drinks. Currently, all volunteers at the Outreach are required to show proof of double vaccination to participate. For more information please contact Bernie Murphy @ 902-410-5825.

In these cases, a food box is delivered to them. Feed Nova Scotia is the second option after the food banks for those who need food. If you have old eyeglasses or hearing aids that you no longer use, you can donate them to those in need. Drop them in the donation box at your church and they will be forwarded to a religious community in the US that distributes them to the Third Word. A parishioner from Corpus Christi St. John leads this ministry and he recently received a lovely note of thanks from the organization that distributes your donations.

A word of thanks to all who contributed or supported in any way the Nativity Scene event in the church hall at Corpus Christi St. Anthony

Berwick last Saturday. Some really beautiful scenes were displayed and we have some truly talented people in our midst!

At the beginning of November we welcomed two Syrian women to Canada. They are mother and daughter and are relatives of our two previously sponsored families. These women are residing with their relatives. Our parishioners’ generous contributions of six years ago allow us to continue this humanitarian work. Thank you

Corpus Christi St. Joseph Weymouth THANK YOU Theresa Gaudet. After 35 years of teaching religious education to our children, Theresa has decided to retire. We owe Theresa our gratitude for taking our children under her wings and teach them all about the love of Jesus. With appreciation and thanks, we wish you all our best, good health and blessings in your retirement. Each week, beginning on Sunday, 21 November 2021, the Solemnity of Christ the King, and for the four Sundays of Advent, the CCCB will release a video recording of a Bishop reflecting on the Gospel Reading for each Sunday. This year’s reflections were inspired by the Indigenous Delegation travelling to Rome to meet with Pope Francis from 17-20 December 2021. We hope that these reflections will be useful to you.
