Vision Prayer 1st Reading

Heavenly Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, we the faithful of Corpus Christi Parish, ask that You bless and sanctify us as we work together to implement our Vision. We ask that You guide us as we strive to love bravely, to serve radically and to meet all whom we encounter with humility and compassion. Help us to unite joyfully and lovingly as followers of your Son, Jesus, to take His message with us wherever we go. We know that by Your grace, we can make this Vision a reality. We ask this in the name of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Daily Bread Outreach Looking for Help It's a busy place these days at the Daily Bread Outreach take out service at Saint Mary’s Cathedral. Outreach offers a takeout lunch Tuesday to Thursday and a hot meal on Fridays. Sixty to 90 persons who are homeless or experiencing low income resources are served each day. The first three weeks of each month are the busiest particularly the week before cheque time (e.g. Income Assistance, Pensions/GST, etc.). Outreach is inviting parishes to consider sponsoring a specific item for a month or a quarter or a year as an ongoing project for the parish over the coming year. In one instance, Good Shepherd Parish, through the Knights of Columbus is partnering with Outreach, delivering bottled water monthly for Outreach guests (e.g. 300 bottles/wk, 1200 bottles a month). Additional volunteers are also needed, especially in the mornings in the prep of sandwiches, take out bags, and drinks. Currently, all volunteers at the Outreach are required to show proof of double vaccination to participate. For more information please contact Bernie Murphy @ 902-410-5825.

Each week, beginning on Sunday, 21 November 2021, the Solemnity of Christ the King, and for the four Sundays of Advent, the CCCB will release a video recording of a Bishop reflecting on the Gospel Reading for each Sunday. This year’s reflections were inspired by the Indigenous Delegation travelling to Rome to meet with Pope Francis from 17-20 December 2021. We hope that these reflections will be useful to you. Synod News from the Archdiocese Did you know we are in the midst of a synodal process? What does that mean? In short, Pope Francis has called on Catholics around the world to journey together in a shared discernment process. This activity will allow the Pope to hear the living voice – you, your family, your friends, Catholics and non-Catholics around the world of the Church universal. This synodal process will help the Holy Father understand where we are as a Church right now and where God is leading the Church of the future. As part of this two - year Synod, there is a diocesan consultation period. We are actively living in this phase right now! At this year’s Assembly of the People of God all our parishes sent teams of representatives to be formed and trained to animate Parish Synod Sessions. These sessions will gather people in the parishes to pray with each other, listen to their experience of the local Church, discern where God is calling our Church next and send all that valuable insight back to the Holy Father. Some of our parishes have already started this hosting sessions and many others will begin soon. Keep an eye out at your parish for these sessions and take part! Together as a universal community of faith we can actively participate in the mission Christ has called us to! For more information on the synodal process check out the Synod 2021-2023 FAQ (pdf) document and our diocesan synod webpage: www.halifaxyarmouth.org/synod

Synod News from Corpus Christi Sometimes the word “synod” refers to an assembly of the Synod of Bishops – which happens once every three years. Recent synods have examined themes such as new evangelization, the family, young people and the Amazon. The next Synod of Bishops, in 2023, will focus on the topic of synodality itself. The word “synod” also refers to “journeying together” – being a community that is united in purpose and mission, moving together in the same direction in this earthly pilgrimage.

So, in preparation for this 2023 Synod of Bishops, Pope Francis has asked all of the bishops to consult and pray with their own dioceses to help determine how synodality is being lived out in their midst and how we need to grow in our experience of journeying together. This common journey is both a gift and a task. We will reflect on this journey by listening to the Word of God in Scripture and then by listening to one another to discern the signs of the times … towards a deeper communion, fuller participation and greater openness to fulfilling our mission in the world. This week, the Community Life Teams (CLTs) of each church, of our parish, participated in a synod meeting in their particular region ... 3 meetings ... Monday, Thursday and Friday evening. From these meetings, the CLTs will bring the synodal process to their particular church community. More details to come!
