Vision Prayer 1st Reading

Heavenly Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, we the faithful of Corpus Christi Parish, ask that You bless and sanctify us as we work together to implement our Vision. We ask that You guide us as we strive to love bravely, to serve radically and to meet all whom we encounter with humility and compassion. Help us to unite joyfully and lovingly as followers of your Son, Jesus, to take His message with us wherever we go. We know that by Your grace, we can make this Vision a reality. We ask this in the name of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Clergy on Retreat In the coming days our clergy will take some time out from their busy ministry schedules for some focused time for prayer and reflection. This weekend the deacons of our Archdiocese will come together for a retreat. Following that all our priests, along with Archbishop Dunn, will gather for their own annual time of retreat all next week. Because of this, daily Masses at many of our parishes may be cancelled for the coming week.

May God pour out his Holy Spirit on these church leaders as they to renew their hearts and minds for the ministry and service to which Christ has called them.

Community Collection The Community Collection will take place on October 23 & 24, and November 20 & 21, Please support the pastoral initiatives of Archbishop Dunn by donating to this year’s collections. Money raised through this collection will support the Ministry of Care and Companionship that seeks to accompany those who are sick and dying and those who care for them; Infirm and Retired Priests fund; and our Mi’kmaq Communities to develop initiatives that focus on healing and reconciliation. These efforts require time, human resources and financial support and we have set a budget of $150,000 for the coming year. With your help we can achieve this goal. You can: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Please prayerfully consider your donation to the Community Collection.

Recently, members of Development & Peace-Caritas Canada met with Archbishop Dunn to kickstart their Fall Action campaign. The theme of the campaign is “People

and Planet First” and it aims to amplify the voices

of environmental defenders in the Global South. Canadians are called to action by signing a petition in support of federal legislation holding Canadian companies to account for their environmental practices and their human rights records in the Global South. ‘

People and Planet First Means…“a different kind of economy: one that brings life not death, one that is inclusive and not exclusive, humane and not dehumanizing, one that cares for the environment and does not despoil it.—Pope Francis “ Please, come join us in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in the Global South!

Pope Francis has released a message for the XXXVI World Youth Day. His message is available online. This year the Holy Father invites dioceses to locally recognize World Youth Day, on the Solemnity of Christ the King (21 November) with the theme: “Stand up. I appoint you as a witness of what you have seen” (cf. Acts 26:16).

Pope Francis has announced that a Synod of Bishops will take place in October 2023, called “For a synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission.”

The official opening of this multiphase Synod took place in Rome on October 9 and 10, 2021. In his opening address, Pope Francis encouraged the faithful to "journey together, in order to experience a Church that receives and lives this gift of unity, and is open to the voice of the Spirit." He stated that "all the baptized are called to take part in the Church’s life and mission. Without real participation by the People of God, talk about communion risks remaining a devout wish."

We’re looking for people to start Discipleship Quads Not just another small group program or Bible study ... A Discipleship Quad is a group of four people who journey together as disciples through weekly gatherings of fellowship, ongoing conversion, and learning. This 44 week path of accompaniment fosters growth through prayer, accountability, and authentic relationships in a proven format. Out of a passion to combat these obstacles and help people to have the relationship with Christ they desire, Franciscan University of Steubenville has created the Discipleship Quad.

We are seeking people to start up a Discipleship Quad. All the materials will be provided. Open to all members of Corpus Christi. Materials will be sent to your community church.
