Windows 11 upgrade
At the start of the 2025-2026 school year, Windows 11 will be the only fully supported operating system for District computers.
Microsoft has indicated that Windows 10 will be End of Support in October 2025. Any devices that do not meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11 must be replaced over the next two years to ensure compatibility with District systems and security policies. The district Technology Services team will provide assistance in identifying non-compliant devices and recommending appropriate solutions. Campuses/Departments wishing to purchase replacement devices now are encouraged to visit the approved hardware standards list on the CCISD Connect website.
Next Steps for CCISD Staff
Technology Services Staff will coordinate with department leads and Principals to identify the date(s) in which your site will be updated. Updates will take place between March 2025 through July 2025. During this time, each site/ department will be provided an inventory of computers that indicates whether they can be updated to Windows 11. All staff should ensure that they have backed up their data prior to the update, including files and browser bookmarks. For more information on how to backup data visit this Knowledge Base article. Staff can also enter a help desk ticket for additional support.
