More than 500 teachers designated as TIA awardees
Corpus Christi ISD is excited to announce the approval of 501 teachers, Pre-K through 12th grade, who have recently been designated as a Recognized, Exemplary, or Master level Teacher under the Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment program (TIA). CCISD entered the TIA program beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.
CCISD now has 724 teachers designated under TIA, 282 at the Master Level, 364 at the Exemplary Level and 78 at the Recognized Level.
Made possible by the passage of House Bill 3 during the 86th Legislative Session, the Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment provides a pathway for high-performing teachers to earn higher salaries while enabling districts in high-needs areas to recruit and retain highly effective teachers on their campuses. TIA elevates the teaching profession and allows districts to celebrate their top performing teachers with compensation and recognition through state teacher designations.
Teacher designation under TIA is determined based on successful student growth measures and teacher evaluation criteria set by the Texas Education Agency. Those who did not designate in the current year have an opportunity to do so in subsequent years. Once awarded, teachers will receive the allotment payout amount for five consecutive years. In CCISD, the allotment amounts range from $5,709 to $21,030.

District announces incoming principal for ECDC
As CCISD plans for the upcoming school year, the district will keep the community informed regarding new leadership assignments.
The district has named Katherine Gorman as the incoming principal for the district’s early Childhood Development Center, which serves 3- and 4-year-olds. Gorman will follow Kellye Loving, the center’s founding principal, who has announced her retirement, effective the end of the school year. The center, located at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, is an H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards state finalist.
Gorman has served as principal of the district’s Ella Barnes Elementary School since 2018, following four years as an assistant principal at E.E. & Jovita Mireles Elementary School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Illinois State University and a master’s in educational administration from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
“The committee valued Ms. Gorman’s strong leadership skills as well as her experience building positive school cultures,” Hernandez said. “We thank Ms. Loving for her extraordinary leadership in establishing our dedicated pre-K center, and we are confident Ms. Gorman is the ideal leader to continue the work.”
District announces 1:1 for everyone
During the 2025–26 school year, students in grades K–12 will have access to a district-issued device. Students in grades 3 through 5 will have access to a 1:1 device while at school, and students in grades 6-12 will have a device directly assigned to them for use at school and home. Families of students in grades 3–8 will also have the option to request that their child’s device be sent home for extended learning opportunities.
Highlights of the Initiative:
• All devices will be equipped with internet filtering to help ensure safe browsing at school and home.
• Families will have access to device insurance options ranging from $15-$30, which can be found on the school webstore.
• Certified high school student technicians will continue to provide device repair and maintenance through the Student Technology Service Center, supporting both sustainability and career-ready skills development.
“Providing devices for each student ensures equitable access districtwide and enables students to take learning beyond the four walls of the classroom, when appropriate,” said Director of Technology Support Services Janelle Reyes.
