Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez announced the district Elementary Teacher of the Year and Secondary Teacher of the Year. Congratulations to both the winners and the finalists!

Dr. D. Scott Elliff Scholarship Award 2024
Looking for financial support to help complete your college degree or teaching certification? The Dr. D. Scott Elliff Scholarship Award was established to support CCISD staff who are attending classes to earn a college degree to become an educator or, if degree has already been received, need to obtain a State Teaching Certification. The scholarship award amount is $500.
Eligibility:
• Three years employed with CCISD.
• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.
• Or needing to obtain State Teaching Certification must have degree from an accredited college or university.

Teacher Fellowship
Award 2024
Do you need Professional Development Training for Pre-AP or AP this summer? The CCISD Teacher Fellowship Award funds registration and some travel expenses for CCISD teachers to attend College Board approved professional development courses in PreAP or AP at sum¬mer institutes or seminars in Texas. Awards vary in value depending on requests, up to approximately $1,500.
Eligibility:
• Five years teaching experience
• Three years teaching in CCISD
• Currently teaching a secondary PreAP or AP course, seeking to increase or improve mastery of subject matter.

Above the Line winners
District leaders recently announced the February 2024 Above the Line employees. Four honorees were surprised at their work locations with the announcement they were selected. Do you know an employee who goes Above the Line? Nominate them!
Camryn Caylor, Substitute
Ms. Caylor is a creative and dedicated teacher who embraces innovative approaches to engage her students. Committed to their success, she goes above and beyond, always available, and willing to try new methods. Collaborative and proactive, she actively contributes to lesson planning and consistently brings enthusiasm to her work
Chloe Avalos, Title I/Paraprofessional, Sam Houston Elementary School
Chloe willingly shares her knowledge, thinks innovatively, and approaches challenges with a problem-solving mindset—qualities that align with the values instilled in students. Her exemplary leadership serves as a positive role model for the entire Sam Houston school community.
Christina Ramirez, Dyslexia Teacher, Smith Elementary School
Mrs. Ramirez is a team player and teacher who goes above and beyond for her students. She not only provides services to students but also takes the time to understand their academic and personal needs. She gives encouragement to students and gives them the confidence to try hard things. Mrs. Ramirez has developed interactive games for the afterschool program.
Victoria Ybarra, Assistant Principal, Calk-Wilson Elementary School
Victoria joined mid-semester, displaying an impressive ability to quickly adapt and contribute. Always ready to provide support and unafraid of acquiring new skills, Victoria’s empathetic nature allows her to comprehend and navigate various situations. Her strong relationships with staff and the trust she has earned from parents make her a reliable source for answers, assuring families that their students are well cared for under her guidance.

TAMU-CC resident teachers sign “Letters of Intent” with CCISD
Seventeen resident teachers from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi signed their letters of intent through the College of Education and Human Development. The residency is a year long program, where student residents work for the district while continuing their studies. Welcome, new teachers, to CCISD!
Join us for our 2nd annual Spring Health Fair! Taking place April 6, at Carroll High School from 9 a.m. to noon.
Offering a variety of vendors, including, medical, dental, vision, blood pressure and cholesterol checks, nutrition and excercise advice and pharmacy assistance, along with information from CCISD and community resources available to the whole family.
