District applauds teachers, students for strong, preliminary STAAR scores

Corpus Christi ISD is pleased with preliminary STAAR scores for grades three through eight, with results showing performance that leads the region, Texas urban districts and the state.

Highlights at the “Meets” level include:

• At or above the state in third through eighth grade reading, and equal to the state in fifth grade math.

• At or above the state in third, fourth and eighth grade math.

• Leads Texas Urban Council districts in third, fourth and sixth grade math; fifth and eighth grade science; and eighth grade social studies.

• Leads ESC Region 2 in fifth grade science, with a second place ranking in sixth grade math. “These results speak to the exemplary commitment of our students with an unparalleled level of support from their teachers,” said Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. “Our focus on professional development at all levels, coupled with partnerships with school and district leaders, is resulting in unmistakable benefits for our students. CCISD is the place to be for academic and extracurricular success, and we can’t wait to help our students continue to further their education when they return to the classroom in August.”

The district anticipates receiving final scores in August. CCISD looks forward to welcoming students to a new school year on Monday, Aug. 11.

CCISD teachers earn top regional honors

Please join us in congratulating our CCISD Teachers of the Year for their outstanding achievements at the regional level. W.B. Ray High School’s Pedro Benavidez has been named the Education Service Center, Region 2 Secondary Teacher of the Year. In addition, Creekside Elementary School’s Dolores Barragan was recognized as a regional finalist. We are proud to celebrate their dedication, excellence, and commitment to education. #CCISDproud
