Student Leader Ceremony honors council leaders
We celebrated our incredible student leaders at CCISD’s 18th Annual Student Leadership Ceremony! We honored Student Council and Senior Council Presidents and Vice Presidents from across our district. These young leaders represent the bright future of our community and demonstrate outstanding dedication to serving their fellow students.
A special thank you to our amazing council sponsors who guide and mentor these students throughout the year - your dedication makes a lasting impact! A big thank you to our emcees, Kylie Thorpe, from Ray High School, and Ethan Christiansen, from Carroll High School.

The Corpus Christi Education Foundation is pleased to offer two scholarship opportunities designed to help our educators pursue their academic and professional goals.
Dr. D. Scott Elliff Scholarship Award 2025
Are you a CCISD staff member seeking to complete your college degree or teaching certification? The Dr. D. Scott Elliff Scholarship Award provides financial assistance to support your educational goals.
• Award Amount: $500
Eligibility Requirements
• Employed with CCISD for at least three years
• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
• Or hold a degree from an accredited college or university and seeking State Teaching Certification

Teacher Fellowship Award 2025
Professional Development Opportunity for Pre-AP and AP Educators Are you looking to enhance your skills in Pre-AP or AP instruction?
The CCISD Teacher Fellowship Award provides funding for professional development training.
• Covers registration and partial travel expenses for College Board approved professional development courses
• Award Value: Up to approximately $1,500 (varies based on requests)
Eligibility Requirements
• Minimum of five years teaching experience.
• Teaching in CCISD for at least three years, Currently teaching a secondary Pre-AP or AP course.

CCISD named District of Distinction Finalist
During the Feb. 10 Board of Trustees meeting, the board recognized key people who helped CCISD become a 2025 National District of Distinction in EdTech Innovation Finalist. The district received this recognition at the Leadership Institute Awards Ceremony in Naples, Florida, for its innovative work supporting at-risk and special education students.
High school educator honored at City Hall
Congratulations to Veterans Memorial High School teacher Tatum Hagen! She was selected as Teacher of the Month, and was recognized at a recent City Council Meeting.
“I enjoy seeing students reach milestones, fostering independence, building confidence and self-esteem, creating a positive inclusive environment, and overcoming challenges,” Hagen said.
Congratulations to Mireles Elementary, Oak Park Elementary and Moody High School for earning the CREST Award! These CCISD campuses were recognized by the Texas School Counselor Association (TSCA) for their excellence in supporting students’ academic, personal/social and career development. The Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas (CREST) award highlights their outstanding commitment to comprehensive counseling programs.
District represented at ESC, Region 2 Spanish Spelling Bee
Patricia Gonzalez Cespedes represented our district and served as pronouncer during the Education Service Center, Region 2 Spanish Spelling Bee!
