The Trust has reached agreement with the vendors and agreed the purchase arrangements. All the necessary legal work will take place over the next few weeks, with the expectation that the site can be in the Trust’s hands by mid-July. The plan then is to put the necessary safety work in place and open the site as a pop-up venue for small events, ideally this summer. Project manager Simon Ryan said: “What incredible support! A real burst of energy and excitement from the community is woven all the way through this project. We have been blown away by the response –amazing!” There is now an intense period of six months gathering resources, form filling and Villagers celebrate...BBC Spotlight coverage negotiating to secure the £1.4m required to complete the project. It will take three to four years to complete, starting on the ground floor with the pub, cafe and heritage centre, and culminating in four affordable flats available for rent by local people. Until building works commence, remedial work will be carried out so that the Trust

In the late May afternoon sun, a community were in jubilant spirit on Cawsand Beach celebrating a landmark achievement - The Old Ship Inn had been saved. In March the Peninsula Trust opened a community investment share scheme to raise funds to buy The Old Ship Inn in Cawsand and rebuild it to create lowcost housing for local people, a bar-café area and a small museum. In just eight weeks, the community raised an incredible £137,533 from a grand total of 320 investors. The Trust has also secured a charity grant from the Plunkett Foundation, a national support organisation, meaning that they have enough to buy the building.
