“I moved to Saltash in 1975 after marrying Derek in Ludlow, Shropshire.

We have two children and four grandsons. I worked as a school secretary at St Mellion School for over 20 years. I have been a member of Wesley Church for about forty years working in all aspects of the church and have been secretary of the Saltash/Mbare (in Zimbabwe) Partnership for many years. I enjoy walking, the theatre, cooking, preserving fruit, veg and herbs grown in our large garden and spending time with our four grandsons. Recently I have become a member of St. Mellion W.I.”

SNOW HERO RNLI SOS DAY

One young student from Duchy College has been praised for his quick thinking, when snow hit the country recently.

Level 2 Military Academy student at Duchy College, Ian Hughes, was on the College bus on the way home to Camelford when traffic came to a standstill.

Ian decided to walk along the road offering help to the cars that needed pushing and to check people were okay in the conditions.

A member of the public, who Ian helped, decided to write to Ian’s parents to let them know Ian “is a credit to you and a star”.

“He was asking people today if he could be of help who were stranded in Camelford town this afternoon, he even brought me a coffee as I had no money on me,” the letter continued.

Ian said that while he wasn’t in the military yet “it is the job of the Military to help and if I can ever offer a helping hand to people I will”.

Open Times

Saltash Food Bank is now open on Fridays, with a drop in between 11am to 1pm. This is to help those that seek help from Citizens Advice at their morning drop in and for those with children at school. The opening times on Mondays and Wednesdays will remain at 2pm to 4pm.

On Friday 25 January the Saltash RNLI Fundraising Committee held their annual SOS (Share our Soup) day at Saltash Sailing Club.

The volunteer fundraisers served up a choice of four home-made soups to hungry diners, raising a total of £528 for the lifesaving charity. Angela Payne-Hanlon, Chair of Saltash RNLI Fundraising Committee said; ‘It was a fantastic turnout. The soups are all made and served by the volunteers on the committee. It’s an annual event we all enjoy and we’re delighted to have raised so much.

As usual it’s our broccoli and stilton soup that is the favourite. A big thanks to everyone who turned out to make it such a success.’

SKATEPARK APPEAL

Junkyard Skatepark CIC is urgently looking for sponsors and funding to support its work with young people.

Without similar funding to what it received in previous years, it cannot keep its building open and reluctantly posted on its Facebook page that it would have to close. MUGA

BENEFIT

St Stephens Primary School have installed a MUGA (multi use games area for the uninitiated) to allow pupils a run around in the great outdoors whatever the weather.

The huge covered area is the size of a full football pitch and has a purpose built soft flooring that allows for sliding tackles and roly polys without the mud! Built on waste land along the side of the school playing field, it will allow PE and after school clubs to happen outside, freeing up the school halls to accommodate the increased intake the school has absorbed over the last few years.

Its been warmly welcomed by children keen to let off a bit of steam, and those fearless people who supervise them who can now shelter from the weather.

BEATING THE FORE

STREET BLUES

Some good news was released by Saltash Town Council regarding the pressure on diminishing footfall in Fore Street due to the closure of local banks.

At a recent Town Council meeting a planning application from Lloyds Bank was heard for a new branch entrance door with level access on Fore Street in the town. The application was approved, so hopefully Lloyds customers will continue to be able to use their local branch for many more years.

The Council are continuing to take pride in Fore Street Saltash and will be renewing the hanging

baskets, making sure they are ready in time for summer.

The Town Council also continue to look after the public toilets. Opening times have been slightly revised and are published below to avoid any accidents!

SAFE 38

PETITION

Local road safety campaigning group Safe38 have launched a petition calling on the Government to include plans to establish a dual carriageway between Saltash and Trerulefoot in the next round of road improvement funding.

James Millidge, Safe38 Chair says: “Around 23,500 people a day use the A38 stretch between Saltash and Trerulefoot. This is over capacity for a road of its type which has an accident and fatality rate that is more than twice the national average.

While the safety and economic reasons behind a new road are convincing, we don’t consider a dual carriageway to be simply about providing a route for more cars and more people, it is about improving the environment we all live in, enabling the current single carriageway A38 to be used as a local access road for buses, cyclists and local traffic. Together both roads, along with the proposed park and ride at Menheniot would provide South East Cornwall with an integrated transport network fit for purpose for generations to come.”

TWO NEW JOBS CREATED FOR LOCAL PEOPLE

There are two new faces at the Community Enterprises Hub at 4 Fore Street, and both of them are local people. They are Alan Marks, Hub Assistant, who lives in Saltash, and Celia Davis, Administration Manager, who lives near Hatt.

You will find them most days at 4 Fore Street.

Their jobs have been created because of the continuing growth of the organisation. Increased cover is needed as more folk call into the Hub to get information, make Hopper bookings, get their Saltash Cards, and buy from stalls. Al and Celia join volunteers already there to provide continuity and consistency of service - as well as ensuring familiar faces for callers to recognise.

Al’s view is: “it’s very rewarding to work somewhere run by the local community

for the local community”.

These two part-time appointments are part of a plan for long-term stability for CEPL12. Celia’s task is to complete the modernisation of the organisation - everything from Safeguarding policy and practice, through IT systems, Health and Safety, to publicity and marketing. The posts have been funded through the company’s business-like approaches over the years, and it is hoped the posts can be continued.

Celia told us: “Joining an organisation like CEPL12 who develop new initiatives for the community’s benefit, is just the opportunity I’ve been looking for. The variety between the different enterprises brings complexities which require a strong but flexible framework of administrative control. I look forward to supporting the team of volunteer Directors who are driving the organisation forward with their ambitious plans to sustain us long into the future.”

HOPELESSLY DEVOTED TO GREASE!

Again, the pupils at Saltash.net rose to the challenge of this year’s performance of the very popular musical, Grease.

The hall was packed full of an eagerly awaiting audience being offered American Hotdogs and Popcorn on trolleys by the one and only Pink Ladies during the interval.

This was another outstanding show produced and directed by Emily Venner, Richard Tolman and Choreographed by Katie Wheeler, Emily Venner, Sophie Watson, Emily Lambert, and Tom Al Mosawi; produced by Jennie Oatway, with talented pupil Tommy Williams and Nicola Silvester as musical directors. The orchestra was also comprised of pupils from Saltash.net.

The many months of hard work, dedication and brill crème that went into the children’s performances was very obvious from the beginning.

Grease the musical has been enjoyed throughout many generations and is equally as popular now as it was when the film was first shown back in 1978, which was made after the original musical in 1971. Sandy being played by Olivia Newton

John and Danny portrayed by John Travolta, way before the pupils at Saltash.net were born as well as many parents and teachers alike.

Good girl Sandy was played by the excellent Lottie Ryder-Wearne and Greaser - T Bird Danny played

by Callum Hillson, fall in love over the summer vacation, when they unexpectedly discover that they now attend the same high school Saltash.net, or rather Rydell High.

There were many outstanding performances and it would be unfair not to mention Jasmine Leslie who played a fantastic Frenchy, Emily Lambert as the tough and brash Rizzo, Pink Lady Leader with a dazzling voice; Sophie Watson who played Jan (part of the Pink Lady clan), India Leslie as the twee and irritatingly beautiful Patty; Fin Bennett who wooed the audience as a very cheeky Sonny and Jules Green as Marty. The cast and ensemble were stupendous and remained in character throughout the show.

Clearly, the cast enjoyed themselves as much as the audience!

10 years of community matters at waitrose Believe it or not, Waitrose have been running the popular green token scheme in store now for ten years!

Recently, they celebrated this anniversary by inviting some of the great local causes they have supported over the years to a celebration.

Waitrose in Saltash is well known for its support in the local community. Hosted by Branch Manager Mike Bestwick and Charities Coordinator Lisa Dolley, a special Cheese and Wine Evening was held to celebrate all 36 charities/local causes that were supported throughout 2014 via the Waitrose Community Matters Scheme. The scheme donates £1000 each month and divides the value between 3 local causes according to how many votes are received by the customer’s green tokens.

Waitrose Saltash Charities Coordinator, Lisa Dolley, said “It’s an absolute pleasure to be involved with

so many community projects. From donating raffle prizes, to Community Matters, and now our Partner Volunteering scheme, it’s amazing to see how even the small things can make a real difference to community life.”

The 10 year Community Matters celebration was a huge success and had over 55 people attend.

Representatives from the charities/causes supported enjoyed an evening of local cheese and wine tastings, presented by Specialists Jo Currah, Mark Hancock and Hannah Williams. Calstock Cricket Club was awarded a £200 in store voucher in a special raffle held on the night.

If anyone knows of a good cause that could be supported through the Community Matters scheme, you can pick up a nomination from the Waitrose Saltash branch beside the Community Matters box, or from a partner at the Welcome Desk.

Saltash.net Sixth Formers progress to Youth Speaks regional final Saltash.net’s Sixth Form team have progressed to the District final of the Youth Speaks competition, where they will face schools from across Devon and Cornwall.

In the District semi-final, the team of Lucie Jones (Chair), Tommy Williams (Main Speaker) and George Seymour (Vote of Thanks), all of whom are in Year 13, spoke on the importance of the Arts, covering how they are an important part of our culture, as well as elaborating on their numerous health benefits.

The team explained how the Arts can help mental health; how they are scientifically proven to release endorphins and boost your health; how they can promote a platform or a voice for equality and how they prepare you for interviews and build your confidence. To demonstrate these points, Tommy performed a song as part of the speech to showcase the importance of the Arts.

Judges noted that the team’s performance was superb and that they worked really well together, highlighting an important topic.

Saltash.net was one of five schools competing, with the others being Devonport High School for Boys (who also proceeded to the next round), Plymouth High Schools for Girls, Heles School and Torquay Academy.

English teacher Gemma Watson explained how proud she was of the team.

“Not only did they perform with confidence and fluency, proceeding to the District final against some tough competition, but they showed unbelievable teamwork and friendship. They are incredible representatives of saltash.net community school,” she said.

The District final will take place on March 23rd at Saltash Wesley Church, which will hopefully provide a home advantage for our team!

LOCAL COMMUNITY BUSINESS RESCUES FOOD AND FEEDS BELLIES NOT BINS Wesley Church in Saltash is no stranger to bringing ways of sharing and caring to Saltash.

It has recently become involved with the Real Junk Food Project, a group who are committed to taking perfectly good food that stores would have to throw away and making good meals to serve.

The Real Junk food Project (TRJFP) was set up in Leeds in December 2013

by Adam Smith to address the huge amounts of food waste generated by society.

Roughly one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year-approximately

1.3 billion tonnes-gets lost or wasted with an estimated 15 million tons being wasted in the UK alone, each year. Often the food waste is binned, fed to animals or ploughed back into the land.

‘When I found out about what TRJFP is, and that anyone could get involved I wanted to be part of it’ explained local coordinator Jess Sneyd.

‘My background is community nursing, but I was looking for a change. I wanted to be involved with something that made a difference at a grass roots level whilst still being about community, health and well being.’ TRJF project is an environmental movement

organise! There are pick-ups from local shops, supermarkets, restaurants and farms up to four times a week, stock takes, auditing all the food that is collected, storage, cooking and serving the meals.

Jess decided to set up the first Real Junk food project in the South West in February 2016.

With the help of Vicki Rowan and some amazing volunteers they run up to five events a week including community lunches, private parties, and events that raise awareness of the issues around food waste, education and community engagement. All the events use intercepted food that was destined for landfill incineration or animal food, and all the food can be bought on a ‘Pay as You Feel Basis’ so that the food is accessible to all and valued for what it is. People do not need to pay with only money but can also offer time or skill to pay for their meal!

‘What started as a kitchen table enterprise from home, has developed and expanded over the last two years’ explained Jess. ‘We didn’t know if people would want to try our food or whether there would be support from our community. However, people just get it. They know that it really is a very bad idea to waste food when it can be enjoyed by people’.

TRJFP Plymouth relies heavily on their 30 volunteers who contribute to all aspects of the business.

Apart from a small seed fund of money from Devonport Soup and a really successful crowd fund which allowed the social enterprise business to move to a permanent storage and kitchen unit at Adrenalin Quarry, they are entirely self-funded with revenue from PAYF donations being used to pay for running costs and wages where possible.

In South East Cornwall there are lots of opportunities for people to go along to a lunch or event as TRJFP operate as a pop-up.

At Wesley, they are hosting a meal on the second Tuesday of each month, with the next one being on March 12. The meal is on a pay as you feel basis, so open to anyone who would like to come.

HAPPY PONGAL! Article by Margaret Holley

On a Tuesday evening in January, at Latchbrook Community Centre, roughly sixty adults and children originally from Sri Lanka and Southern India but now living in Saltash and Plymouth, gathered together to celebrate their New Year Festival of Pongal.

It is celebrated to commemorate the beginning of harvesting crops in the fields and was initially a festival for farmers but now Pongal is a festival common to all Tamils across the world.

The word Pongal means “overflowing� signifying abundance and prosperity.

Outside the centre, a large, clay pot sat on a log fire. In it was cooking Thai Pongal and this was being made by some of the men. It is something that only the men prepare and would be served later when the food was shared.

There were decorations made from coconut leaves

hanging from lines leading to the entrance hall just as we in this country decorate for Christmas.

Huge smiles, hugs and shaking of hands provided a warm welcome for all.

The colour of the clothes worn by everyone was stunning. The ladies and girls wore brightly coloured saris matched with all kinds of jewels and jewellry, the brightness lifted the room. The men and boys were dressed in colourful clothes called vetti.

Many of the children sat on an Indian carpet where they chatted and played together.

When the food was ready, blessings and thanks were given by one of the leaders. There was strictly no alcohol or meat available throughout the evening. The meal was served on a large banana leaf. Delicious items included Thai Pongal which is made of rice mixed with daal, ghee, cashew nuts, raisins and mild spices along with chick peas, banana and mango mixes were enjoyed by everyone.

Conversations and catching up followed the meal then dancing took place to complete the festivities bringing a very happy celebration to an end.

The Saltash Junior Band at the Saltash Wesley Church receiving their award

SALTASH JUNIOR BAND CELEBRATES

Saltash Junior Band came away from the Saltash Music Speech and Drama Festival last week with a spring in their step after winning the David Derham Plate with 85 marks.

The Instrumental adjudicator Gillian Johnson praised the band’s musicality especially with many members being quite a young age, and felt the band would go from strength to strength.

The Band was conducted on the evening by 17 year Old Harry Pascoe who has been involved with Saltash Junior Band since it's reformation in 2010. He plays trombone in the Senior Band and is an A-level Music student from Saltash.net.

The Junior Band performed 'The Eye of the Tiger which is the movie theme from Rocky III followed by the main theme tune from the film 'Jurassic Park'.

Band members were delighted to show off their lovely yellow waistcoats purchased two years ago.

ESSA DRAMA CELEBRATES PUPILS achievements The students at ESSA Drama which is now in its successful 11th year, have been exceptionally busy over many months learning new drama scripts for the annual Plymouth and Saltash Speech and Drama Festivals; preparing - solo drama, duologues, group acting, and prose readings.

As a result, many pupils were awarded extremely high marks at Festivals being presented with numerous certificates, cups and trophies for their exceptional performances, including, Lerryn Willcox, Amelia Writer, Amelie Henderson, Emilia Newton, Lola Mills, Sophie Pascoe, Maisie Treise and Jasmine, India and Seren Leslie.

The festival performances are in addition to their weekly drama workshops where the children learn new skills in communication, spoken word, and performance at all levels.

Some weeks the children experience the joy of singing in addition to their drama and were delighted to be part of the Saltash Musical Premier of “Blood Red Rose” alongside other children and adults within the community.

Leading practitioner of ESSA Drama said: “We are

very mindful of the benefits that children can gain from their drama experience and encourage one another to participate in all aspects of dramatic arts, with the aim of opportunities of partaking in public performances at some stage if they wish; or just enjoy their moments of fun and creative activity.

“The children make new, sometimes lifelong friendships and they are always encouraged to respect one another and offer constructive feedback on each other’s performances, always with an enthusiastic applause.

“So-much-so, six pupils received awards platformed by the Saltash Town Youth Council event recently, along with dozens of other children for their outstanding community endeavours earned at ESSA Drama School.”

THE WORKIES IS OPEN for centenary celebrations For nearly 100 years Saltash Social Club was known as Saltash Working Man’s Club. It was formed on 12 April 1919, with the Mayor at the time, G.D.L Lang becoming its first President.

This first club contained a billiard room, reading room, smoking room and a bar for its 200 members. Like all Working Men’s Clubs, it began as, and remains a non profit organisation owned

and run by its members. Its present Committee all work voluntarily on behalf of its members to grow and enhance the club for the future.

With this year being the centenary, the Club is celebrating in style with a three day party over Easter Weekend, April 19-21. On Friday 19 everyone is welcome to a Real Ale Night and a good old disco and karaoke singalong starting

community news around 8pm. On Easter Saturday there will be free children’s entertainment, including a bouncy castle, face painting and a magician from 10am.

Bar Snacks, Rolls, and Sandwiches will be available all day plus Popcorn and Candy Floss Stalls.

The last 100 years has seen several venues for the Club. After the original building was destroyed in the blitz of April 1941, they moved into The Mansion, a substantial building set back from Fore Street (pictured). This was demolished to make way for the bypass, and the building we have today was refurbed in 1996.

Renamed Saltash Social Club but still affectionately known as The Workies, the Club is proud of its traditions, but determinedly focussed on the future. There is a new refurbishment planned this Spring to make the most of the stunning views across the Tamar Valley, and a full line up of top entertainment for members and non members alike to enjoy a great night out – tribute bands to the Beatles, Diana Ross, The Darkside of Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac to name a few. The substantial function room, which also doubles as a restaurant serving very popular Sunday lunches, can hold up to 140 seated for weddings, and up to 500 standing.

The Club has recently appointed a new Bar Manager, Lesley, who is already having a significant impact into the Club’s continued growing success.

The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly to men, women and children (allowed in the members bar up to 9pm), and there is always an activity to get involved in – darts, euchre and pool. Three full size snooker tables host regular competitions with teams representing Cornwall, Devon and Plymouth, as well as home grown talent.

And with SKY and BT Sports, there is always a special atmosphere watching important televised matches, with occasional drinks deals adding to the excitement!

WELCOME TO THE SALTASH SCRAPSTORE

community news Strings of brightly coloured tissue flowers hang from the ceiling, the walls are crammed with an array of different fabrics and materials; Saltash Scrapstore is ultimately a crafter’s paradise and a welcome splash of colour on Fore Street. Started up by Saltash local Rosie, the scrapstore is a non-profit community organisation that aims to increase reuse and reduce recycling and landfill.

Rosie is a familiar face in the Community Market, which she has run since it first began.

She went to the management committee with the idea for a local scrapstore and it really took off. The concept was widely welcomed and won the backing of local organisations Saltash Environment Action and Saltash Chamber of Commerce. The shop was opened in October 2018; since then it has flourished amongst locals and even further afield.

The store is staffed mainly with volunteers, many of them are craft enthusiasts. Their ultimate goal is to help reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill whilst simultaneously helping to create wonderful things out of bits of scrap. A step in the right direction would be for every Saltash resident to eventually have their own scrapstore bin. This could just be an empty Celebrations box that serves to collect any unwanted scrap that

isn’t suitable for a charity shop but not fit to be binned or recycled either.

Since opening last year, the staff have been overwhelmed by the amount of scrap that has been donated, providing the shop floor with ample supplies and the surplus donations being held in the stock room. The shelves are full of hidden gems and there is an excitement in visiting because every time there is something new to discover with the stock constantly being replenished. The stock ranges between fabrics, wools, knitting patterns, packaging, jewellery boxes, picture frame off-cuts and old tools (just to name a few)!

Besides being environmentally beneficial, the shop also succeeds in bringing people together and forming a sense of community. A variety of workshops take place regularly from sewing club to making reusable wax food wraps, providing opportunities to socialise and share new skills. The scrapstore is always looking for skilled crafters willing to run workshops and people to participate!

One of the scrapstore’s latest projects is The Toolshed. These workshops aim to bring skilled men and women together to fix, mend and create by using the resources of the scrapstore. These classes encourage anyone to participate, whether you are a skilled handyman or a novice with tools and looking to learn some new resourceful skills.

Not only is Saltash Scrapstore a brilliant shop to simply have a potter, it has a positive environmental and social impact and urges as many people to get involved as possible. The staff are always available to offer advice and on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays there is a table set up on the shop floor for anyone to get involved with crafts. Keep Our Rivers Clean and Clear

This is an appeal to protect our local rivers. Water is the most precious, life-giving resource and much of the history of Saltash is connected to the water that surrounds it.

If you look at the Parish Boundary map you will see it is mostly carved out by two main rivers; the Tamar and the Lynher.

But these are not the only rivers, there is one other, right in the heart of the parish and that is the Latchbrook Leat. Despite its relatively short length and appearance of being not much more than a small stream, it is also classified as a main river, a significant watercourse that is overseen by the Environment Agency, regardless of whose land it flows over. Many residents are in close proximity with the water every day as they walk along footpaths around Latchbrook or follow the road through Burraton, down into Burraton Coombe and onto Forder, where it bubbles and splashes through culverts, alongside the roads and bridleways, through gardens and between houses.

In fine, dry, weather it bears all the qualities of a bucolic babbling brook but during heavy rainfall it can rise several feet and the velocity of the water is ferocious and likely to sweep away any unfortunate soul that should happen to fall in.

All water courses deserve our respect but within our throw-away society there is still the temptation to dispose of anything and everything via a conveniently situated source of fresh, running water. But with excellent

waste and green waste services available to our community, there is absolutely no excuse for disposing of any type of waste in or around this, or any other watercourse. The penalties for polluting or blocking a main river can be severe. At best, a fine, at worst, a custodial sentence. Blocking a river can cause damage to land and property which will need to be rectified and paid for.

In recent months people living downstream in Forder have reported large quantities of garden waste and plastics, flowing downstream and causing blockages. Further upstream, a landowner has erected a barbed wire fence across the river. The fence has trapped a large quantity of woodland debris and silt, creating a substantial dam which has led to flooding.

Landowners, please take note. If the Latchbrook flows through or alongside your property, you must obtain a permit from the Environment Agency to do any work near or in the river, you must not throw garden waste into the river or onto the banks, you must not pollute the water or impede its natural flow. And you must follow clear guidelines on structures such as fences and bank stabilisation measures.

Members of the public, walkers, and nature lovers, if you see any pollution or blockage of the Latchbrook, please call the Environment Agency 24-hour Incident Hotline on 0800 80 70 60 explain that you are reporting an incident on the Latchbrook at Saltash and that it is a ‘Main River’. Give the location and the best description you can of the problem.

Each month, an experienced tutor brings a fresh angle to their work and this is reflected in the range of subject and technique on display in this show.

Loose sweeps and brush strokes barely suggest the trees and hint at the spaces beyond.

Each artist manipulates what is seen and tells a story, tells something of their response to being there.

Street FooD... The Best Way to Eat in Vietnam!

Dark alleys at night are supposed to be avoided.

There are bogeymen lurking up them. Our western culture has prejudiced us against walking these passageways. Characters get murdered there.

Monsters suddenly emerge from them. Shady dealings occur. Yet, in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) this is by far the best way to sample the delights of the best food Asia has to offer. So with a great deal of trepidation and excitement we set off on foot and Vespa to see what all the fuss is about!

What we discovered were some of the most amazing colours, fragrances and tastes we have ever had! Here are just a few of the amazing dishes we sampled!

Phò Phở (pronounced fuh) is a Vietnamese soup consisting of broth, rice noodles, a few herbs, and meat, primarily made with either beef or chicken. The secret lies in the quality of the broth. The best street vendor will use their secret family recipe, and simmer their broth slowly for many days to get that perfect base. The results are incredible…. Light rice noodles, uncovered by the chop sticks, absorbing the delicate flavours of the broth and the succulent meats. Add a squeeze of lime and fresh chillies to suit. No wonder

this is a Vietnam staple!

Bun Cha Bun cha includes a plate of fresh noodle, a bowl of sweet and sour fish sauce with papaya and carrot which were slightly fermented, seasoned with chilli and garlic to make the taste stronger. All of them placed on a small flat basket with veggies and local herbs on the side. Normally there are 2 choices of meat which are grilled pork meat balls or grilled sliced pork.

Banh xeo Nam Bo (Vietnamese southern pancake) A favourite in Saigon. We filled our pancake full of rice noodles, tender beef and then masses of fresh fragrant leaves. The result is a combination of comfort eating with incredible array of flavours and textures.

Cut chien bo (Butter fried quail) A dish which has recently become popular among Southern Vietnamese is butter-fried quail. They love it because quail has absorbed the seasoning Phò so well, and the smell of butter makes more enticing. Eat this with cucumber, (rice flour) breads and sweet and sour sauce. Messy and sticky but a real delight… and great washed down with a Hanoi beer!
