Through this membership, Corn Belt Power sells all of its generation output to Basin Electric and buys all of its power needs above its hydropower contract from Basin Electric.

Fund POWER

Corn Belt Power has a Revolving Loan Fund also known as the Providing Opportunity Within our Economic Region (POWER) fund. The POWER Fund totals $9 million and consists of USDA Rural Economic Development Loan & Grant (REDL&G) funds and Intermediary Relending Program (IRP) funds. The fund provides low-interest loans to local economic and community development

projects within 25 counties in north central Iowa. The fund’s priorities include job creation and retention, diversification of the local economy, and public infrastructure upgrades to improve health, safety and/or medical care of rural residents.

Energy Efficiency

Corn Belt Power Cooperative’s energy efficiency programs work to help delay future construction of power plants, reduce power plant emissions, conserve energy resources and control rising energy costs. Incentives and rebates encourage members to save energy and money.

Programs educate members about geothermal and air source heat pumps, energy-efficient lighting, water heating, appliances, insulation and weatherization.

Corn Belt Power’s load management system seeks to reduce peak demand in order to use power supply resources more economically.

Corn Belt Power offers technical support to help commercial, industrial and large agricultural customers reduce operating costs, improve reliability and become more energy efficient.
