My name is Camilla Cormanni, I have just completed my studies at the Faculty of Architecture of the Politecnico di Milano. If I had to describe myself in a few words, I would describe myself as enthusiastic and hard worker, always on the move and ready to take on new challenges. What I am most passionate about doing architecture is definitely the opportunity to be in contact with other people. In fact, I am of the idea that when more opinions, more visions and perspectives systematically converge in a single project, it will be enriched with complexity and beauty, while offering new reasons of hypsiraion to the personal creative growth of each individual. In this regard, my brief teaching experience conducted together with students at the Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria in Chile, was revelatory for me because I realized how, especially in this last long-distance period, direct confrontation is essential for better mutual understanding, for achieving satisfying results, and finally for simply feeling more human. Although from the beginning of university, Architecture has occupied a large part of my life, over time I have had the opportunity to mature other passions. Photography, cooking and swimming are those activities that help me clear my mind and think more clearly. So here is a small description of myself. It is now time to show my projects. hello!

The starting idea, in fact, taking as a reference this natural element that has characterized this place for centuries, is to create a sailing campus, that is, an equipment that aims to provide spaces and facilities for athletes from all over the world who go to train and compete on Lake Garda, through the creation of support and logistics facilities that are currently lacking or in some cases absent.

The complex shows a vocation as a collective area that fits perfectly with the possibility of hosting a sports-related campus. This is a program where the old and the new enter into communication with each other in an attempt to revive spaces of great historical, architectural and landscape value. Several dimensions coexist in this project: the conservation work of the protected structures, the design of new buildings capable of entering into a relationship with the pre-existing ones, and the preservation and simultaneous enhancement of the park; dimensions that, both remaining distinct and communicating with each other, confront each other in a process of continuous interaction.

The Miralago area of Riva del Garda, where the thesis project is located, has been influenced since the 19th century by the climatic conditions of the place for the realization of a naturalistic treatment center; today, after decades of disuse of the entire site and its removal from public use, always the air, in the form of constant wind that characterizes the Alto Garda Trentino, has held a new interest capable of imparting new form and function to the place.

The developed project is located in Piazza dei Filippini in Mantova, where previously stood a church which was destroyed during the bombing of the allies in 1945. Only the bell tower and the rear part of the complex remained unharmed. The historical archive project seeks the lost relationship with the lone tower and the majestic park in front of it. The project was thought of as a “hand”, the palm is embodied by the ground floor and the square, through this we access each volume representing the fingers of the hand. On the ground floor are positioned three volumes together with the existing tower. The choice not to place other openings in the facade is to demonstrate the importance of the new building, creating a strong relationship with the imposing park of Piazza Virgiliana. My personal contribution within the project is given by the idealization of graphics, the realization of perspective views, the realization of various three-dimensional maquets. Besides together with my group mates I have contributed to all the ideas that have carried to the final formal achievement. Lorenzi|Marco Cofani|Laura Luca Caselli, F. Franzini

#02 VINETUM PALMARIAE Final Design Studio Bachelor Degree | III Year Palmaria - 2019 Prof. Paolo Citterio|Chiara Lanzoni|Carlo Togliani With:

The island of Palmaria has been characterized for centuries by the activity of man who tried to integrate his life with the peculiarities of the place. One of them is still in existence, but with less presence. Working the land on similar slopes has never been easy for the farmers of Liguria, who have tried to soften the Palmaria island creating terraces and settlements along the perimeter of the island.

For long years the island became the “granary” of Porto Venere but then with the arrival of the First World War the island became more and more inaccessible, so in a short time nature reopened itself of much of it. The developed project aims to bring the attention to the agricultural aspect of this land by choosing as generating elements the historical buildings, partly decaying, that allowed to cultivate the land, like the terracing. The plan previews a “agro-tourist” distance that brings the visitor to contact with the more important places for the agriculture on the island, like Villa Smith, always connected to the cultivation of the grape and the production of a finished product. The Laboratory provides for the construction of a building, maximum size 18m x 8m x 8m, with function and location free from constraints. The project was developed in the city of Trento, near the historic center. The pavilion is conceived as a library/reading room. Initially a survey was carried out of the climate of the place, of the usable materials and of the particular characteristics of the chosen area. Subsequently, the thermal efficiency of the pavilion was studied through the Best Energy software. At the same time, construction technologies were identified with which to build the building. In this case the wood was chosen for the total construction of the building, a material used in most of Trentino-Alto Adige, in particular the one obtained after the storm Vaia in 2018 that hit the region causing the fall of many trees. My contribution to the realization of the project is given by the choice of materials and construction techniques best suited to them, the formal choice of the external structure. I also dealt with the realization of plans, elevations and sections up to the study of architectural details. and the built Environment Master Degree | I Year Trento - 2020 Manlio Mazzon|Adriana Granato With: Leonardo F. My personal contribution was to think about the graphics of the project, starting from the sections to the perspective views. In addition, I took care of the square in front of the pavilion and I studied and thought about the modifications of the part concerning the old structure of the university. Piazza D’Arco that acts as a hinge, a gateaway for people entering the city. The starting point was to define the limits and understand the role that the square and the pavilion would play insiede the city. The project is based on the principle of the relationship between spaces, which allows visual permeabilty always present between them, and the importance of the void, which is treated as a concrete condition.

Over the past year, food delivery has been a key line of business for food service companies around the world. Forced to give in to a resilient approach, the global food industry has been able to count on an ally that even before the pandemic was on the rise: food delivery. Hence the idea behind the workshop was to create special structures for the exclusive sale of take-away food, called Dark Kitchen Hubs. I chose to locate the project in Italy, in Trento, where food delivery is still a little evolved phenomenon being the traditional gastronomic culture of fundamental importance for the nation. Compared to the Italian case it was necessary to think of a structure that could be modified over time to become a restaurant in all respects, in the future. The concept at the base is to create an enclosure that contains within it various volumes each with different functions that are connected to each other through a private outdoor area, these can change function over time. In addition, the external walls separate the intervention area from the nearby railway line, on the contrary on the opposite side the project opens through a square that connects the new building with the nearby Renzo Piano’s district.

37 #06 MODERN ROME Architectural Design Studio Master Degree - I Year Roma - 2019 Prof. Federico Bucci|Luigi Mario Lorenzo Spinelli

With: Linda Flaviani, Leonardo F. Franzini, Marcela Costa

After studying five architectures built in Rome between 1933 and 1965, such as the “Casa della GIL in Trastevere” by Luigi Moretti the “Palazzo delle Poste” in via Marmorata by Adalberto Libera, the “Palazzina il Girasole” by Luigi Moretti, La “Rinascente” by Franco Albini and the “Edificio Polifunzionale in via Campania” by Studio Passarelli, their relationship with the city was analyzed in conjunction with the new architectural ideas of the twentieth century. The study, which led to the creation of the model, was addressed by taking into consideration the “Città Analoga” of Aldo Rossi (1976) and the “Nuova Mappa di Roma “ by Gian Battista Nolli (1748). Hence the idea of creating a model of Rome, the size of 1.50 x 1.50 meters, starting from the map of Nolli and updating it to the years in which the case studies were built. In fact, it depicts the disemboweling of the city in the first half of the century, the various buildings built during the Fascist era and all the new variants that have modified the city of Rome. Rossi is taken for its complexity, he draws, according to the style of the ancients, an imaginary city composed of collage of projects, images and places he loves that are reinterpreted for the realization of the modern model of Rome.
