Exhibition in honour of “White Cane” A charity exhibition of typography posters titled “McCann Freestyle” was officially opened at ‘Parobrod’ (‘Steamboat’), the cultural centre of the Municipality of Stari Grad, which marks the beginning of a joint venture called McCann Steamboating. The posters sold out and the funds raised in this way will be spent on buying guide dogs for the association of blind and visually impaired people, ‘White Cane’. The posters were made by designers working for McCann Belgrade - Marko Prokić, Petar Pavlov, Lidija Milovanović, Mladen Milašinović, Nataša Radosavljević, Nenad Dodić, Marija Milanković, Jelena Grahovac, Neda Petković, Miloš Vuković, Tereza Cenić, Jelena Atanasovski, and Ana Banduka.

Takeda

Innovations in Pharmaceutical Industry The first Japanese pharmaceutical company in Serbia – Takeda – held a business gathering at the City of Belgrade Assembly on October 9. At the gathering, the company’s representatives talked about the history and the business format of the oldest and the biggest pharmaceutical company in Japan which brings innovative medication to Serbia and adheres to the principles of ethics as its core business philosophy. Japanese Ambassador to Serbia H.E. Mr. Masafumi Kuroki, who was appointed to this post in March 2013, spoke about the historical collaboration between Japanese and Serbian healthcare systems and the importance of the future economic cooperation.

For Women in Science

For the third consecutive time, Serbian women scientists have been granted national scholarships by the international programme ‘For Women in Science’. Dijana Mosić, Katarina Zeljić and Miljana Tanić were each awarded with €5,000 for their exceptional scientific work in the segment of natural sciences. Also, a new round of scholarships has been announced, and young women scientists will be able to apply for new scholarships between October 15 and December 15 this year. The 2013 recipients are award-winning mathematics, molecular genetics and oncology scientists, and they were awarded scholarships as an impetus for their scientific work and as support to their continuing scientific engagement in Serbia.

UNICEF

Financial Education for Children Ms Judita Reichenberg, UNICEF Area Representative in Serbia, and Dr Veroljub Dugalić, Secretary General of the Association of Serbian Banks, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the United National Children’s Fund in Serbia and the Association of Serbian Banks. UNICEF Serbia and the Association of Serbian Banks are going to jointly promote socially responsible behaviour with a focus on children and organize financial education for children and youth through the Initiative for Developing Children-Friendly Financial Products and Services. The partnership of these two organizations will provide ASB members with regular and detailed information about the initiatives and guidelines launched by UNICEF, so that financial institutions cab be in a better position to assess the impact of their business on respecting and supporting children’s rights in the context of their market activities, development, advertising and sales of financial products and services.
