Canada celebrates Thanksgiving on the second Monday in October. Our harvest season occurs earlier here during the year and it is for this reason that Canada celebrates its fall harvest or Thanksgiving before the US Thanksgiving. It is the day to give thanks for the bountiful harvest. Thanksgiving is also one of the few times of the year where we stop to appreciate just what extraordinary lives we live. We get a chance to count our blessings - not just food and friends, but satisfying work, our good health, the many shoes we have, and the roof over our heads many We carry a responsibility - to teach our children to be truly thankful. As part of being thankful for the season’s bounty Police Point Park celebrates fall with our “Annual Fall Festival” on Sunday September 19, from 10am to 4pm. Bring the kids to a fun in-thepark festival. Full of rich autumn not-to-be missed activities, decorative displays, and interactive events. Many are Free! Everything from face painting, kids crafts, games, treasure hunts, and buildyour-own scarecrow. Find some of the best local produce and preserves in our “farmers market.” Roast your own Hot Dogs over the open fire while you enjoy live entertainment. We are thankful 365 days of the year, and this year we wanted to thank some amazing people. On Saturday, October 2 here at the Nature Centre we are opening a new exhibit “Celebrating Friends!” An exhibit about Police Point Park and the special people that make it the wonderful place that it is.
