ELEVATING

COPPER MOUNTAIN CONTINUES TO LEVEL-UP EVERY TURN

Copper Mountain is looking ahead to the future. Both on and off the mountain, the resort Copper Mountain’s commitment to improving experiences at the resort continues. Last season, the resort made its most significant capital investment in over a decade, creating new trails, updating snowmaking systems, expanding parking, and opening the new mid-mountain lodge, Aerie. That momentum is continuing into the 2024-25 season, as Copper puts beginner progression at the forefront.

The brand-new Timberline Express lift will improve access to some of Copper (and Colorado’s) most sought-after intermediate terrain. The new 6-pack lift is part of a multi-year improvement to the Western Territory, Copper’s beginner-centered terrain pod. Focused on progression and skill-based learning, the Western Territory showcases Copper’s dedication to raising athletes to conquer and challenge themselves on the slopes. Copper remains unwavering in its support of every athlete, from first timers to Olympic medalists.

This winter, the resort will welcome a new X Games event to the mountain, peaking the competitive spirit for elite freeskiers and snowboarders. Copper’s world-class training facilities, innovative lessons and clinics, and expansive range of navigable terrain make the mountain more than a resort; it’s a place where everyone can challenge themselves and unlock their inner athlete. Copper invites all to be a part of the exciting season ahead and experience a destination that inspires, challenges, and leaves a lasting impression.

HAPPEN

COPPER IS A MOUNTAIN MADE FOR ATHLETES.

With over 2,500 acres of accessible terrain, athletes of all levels are encouraged to go head-tohead with their limits and push their progression, from firsttime shredders to elite-level performers. At Copper, the natural layout of the mountain is perfect for all who come to conquer and reach their goals.

From west to east, the terrain’s difficulty escalates with longwinding groomers transforming into steep slopes. Wide open bowls, powder pockets, chutes, and heartdropping cliff bands await on the backside of the mountain. Copper has the terrain, programs, and competitions to push athletes to their next level.

This season, Copper’s commitment to beginner success is at the forefront with new investments made in the Western Territory. Beginners, kids, and families can focus on progression on expanded novice trails, gladed runs and varying terrain features. The Timberline Express lift replacement, debuting this winter, will only further opportunity for growth and development moving across the resort’s naturally divided terrain. Make It Happen at Copper Mountain.

WESTWARD BOUND

COPPER HAS PRIORITIZED IMPROVEMENTS IN THE WESTERN TERRITORY TO CREATE EASILY NAVIGABLE BEGINNER AND INTERMEDIATE TERRAIN FOR GUESTS.

Copper’s terrain naturally flows from easier to more difficult as you move across the mountain, with beginner-friendly runs on the west side and more advanced trails on the east. This natural topography and divided design of the mountain allows skiers and riders to find their ideal challenge as they explore the slopes. Copper has focused on expert access in recent years, with the installation of the Three Bears chairlift and access to Tucker Mountain. In recent seasons, focus has shifted to improve the beginner skiing and riding experience.

Since 2021, Copper has completed several upgrades and improvements to this the western-most terrain on the mountain known as the Western Territory. Named in homage to the history of mining and logging in the area, the Western Territory is focused on beginner progression. This multi-year project has revamped the west-side of Copper Mountain, with new trails, improved snowmaking, and now, an essential chairlift upgrade. Since 2021, the resort has created five new beginner and intermediate trails and an adventure zone. Aimed at providing the ultimate experience for beginners, kids and families to embark on their skiing journey, these terrain improvements have prioritized skill development.

For the 2024/25 season, Copper partnered with Leitner Poma to upgrade the Timberline Express chairlift. The lift is being improved from a 4-person chairlift to a high-speed 6-pack, which will greatly increase the lift’s uphill capacity. Installed over the summer of 2024, the lift will debut this winter. The chair replacement is a continuation of the resort’s Western Territory expansion and once complete, will greatly increase access to Copper’s most sought-after, intermediate groomed terrain. With a focus on enhancing convenience and accessibility, the upgrade caters to both seasoned athletes and beginners, ensuring everyone can spend more time exploring the resort’s Western Territory and less time on the lift.

WESTERN TERRITORY IMPROVEMENTS

Opened during the 2023-24 season, Aerie is Copper’s new mid-mountain lodge. Replacing Solitude Station, the new lodge is a gamechanger for dining at Copper. Aerie is a 25,000-square-foot, two-story building and the gondola unloads on the second-floor deck, which allows for a seamless transition for all guests, including those arriving by foot. For the first time at Copper, the lodge offers a full-service on-mountain restaurant “Forage and Feast” featuring unique Colorado cuisine. With a full-service casual restaurant, bar and lounge, a private dining area for events, cafeteria, and 270-degree views of the Gore and Ten Mile Ranges, this project takes Copper’s on-mountain dining to the next level and continues to improve the year-round mountain experience at the resort.

DINING ELEVATED

The Aerie elevates the dining experience at Copper. The first of its kind at the mountain, “Forage and Feast,” the upstairs restaurant, offers Colorado cuisine with specialty items including poutine, beef brisket chili rojo, Rocky Mountain trout, venison leg steak and more. Downstairs in the food hall, a wide selection of options are available for skiers and riders looking for reprieve or a midday pick me up. The upgraded food hall includes a grill, ramen bar, wood fired pizza, a deli station, and heartier and plant-based items are also available for hungry visitors. In addition to a downstairs bar, the new space includes a hot chocolate bar for the young ones or the young at heart craving a chocolaty treat.

FORAGE & FEAST DINNERS

Copper’s premiere on-mountain restaurant, Forage & Feast, will host several specialty dinner events this winter. Guests are invited to experience the Aerie at night, enjoying specialty themed dinners throughout the winter season. Forage & Feast Dinners will be hosted on Nov. 30, Dec. 28, Jan. 18 and Feb. 18. COPPER MOUNTAIN’S ONGOING COMMITMENT TO PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT AND SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY.

THE ENVIRONMENT

WASTE REDUCTION: Copper’s commitment to waste reduction has reached new heights. During the 2023-24 season, the Copper community helped divert 35% of the waste produced at the resort. Copper has taken huge strides in recent seasons to integrate methods to cut back on the amount of material filtering into the landfill. Copper’s CIRQU recycling program has recycled over 16,000 pounds of aluminum and plastic since the program began in the winter of the 2022-23 season. CIRQU allows Copper to circulate aluminum and plastic through closed loop recycling and allows the resort’s partners at Pepsi to integrate the material back into their supply chain. The program helps eliminate downcycling and works in tandem with Copper’s integration of Ball Aluminum Cups into resort dining outlets. CIRQU was recognized as a finalist for 2024 NSAA Golden Eagle Award for Overall Environmental Excellence.

Additionally, Copper introduced a Community Drop-Off Station for recycled and composted material. Residents are encouraged to reach out to the High Country Conservation Center to gain access to the free drop off site to help divert organic waste from the trash. The Play Forever and housing teams also hosted the first ever Give and Take Event at Copper’s seasonal housing facility to help employees weed out old items before moving out at the end of the season. Items that were not swapped during the weeklong event were donated to the Family & Intercultural Resource Center.

CONVERSATIONS AND SUCCESS IN CONSERVATION

COPPER CONSERVATION SUMMIT: In July 2024, Copper Mountain hosted its fourth annual Ski Conservation Summit, inviting local resorts from across Colorado, land managers, and conservation industry organizations to discuss and educate one another on individual sustainability initiatives. This year’s Summit was Copper’s most successful, as over 60 people attended, including 10 resort partners: Arapahoe Basin, Eldora, Sunlight, Echo Mountain, Steamboat, Jackson Hole, Vail Resorts, Taos Ski Valley, NSAA, Colorado Ski Country, and POWDR. This was an incredible opportunity to observe and celebrate the commitment and unification of the ski industry to combat climate change. Copper’s Ski Conservation Summit was recognized as a finalist for 2024 NSAA Golden Eagle Award for Community & Partnerships, and the resort looks forward to hosting more opportunities to collaborate with industry partners in the future.

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

During the 2023-24 winter and summer seasons, Copper donated over $2.5 million dollars to community organizations in the form of financial and in-kind products. The resort operates several yearly giving programs offering support like ski lessons for groups like Ski Noir, lane training space for groups like Team Summit, and season-long support for Special Olympics training and competition. Copper operates a very successful lift ticket giving program, Play Forever Thursdays. Through PFT, Copper has supported 32 organizations with over $650,000 through funds raised through $99 discounted lift ticket sales. The resort is looking forward to expanding the program this season to include additional support days earlier in the season. Copper also supports the Lake County Community Fund via a four-year $200,000 match grant. This partnership first began in 2019 and has been extended for an additional four-year grant cycle to support Lake County non-profits and youth programs. More than 200 of Copper’s winter staff call Lake County home.

Employees at Copper are encouraged to pursue their own athletic passions while forgoing the financial burden that comes with competing or recreating.

WINNING IN SAFETY

THROUGHOUT THE 2024/25 SEASON, COPPER WILL FOCUS ON A DIFFERENT SAFETY TOPIC EACH MONTH, WITH A SHARED MISSION TO FOSTER A SAFE AND KIND ENVIRONMENT ON THE SLOPES.

Be part of Team Copper by going to bat for others and by showing kindness on the slopes.

All chairlifts are different, and others may not have the experience you do. Show camaraderie and sportsmanship by checking in with those around you and by offering some coaching tips about loading, riding and unloading the lifts.

Don’t be suspended from play and don’t let your teammates either! A closed trail is closed, period. You don’t want to be down for the count with a ski pass suspension. Just like when you are learning a new sport, do your homework ahead of time. Check the website, obey the signs steer clear of all on-snow machinery.

Skiing and riding is not a contact sport! Keep your head in the game and give others a wide berth. Don’t be the one sidelined for blitzing recklessly down the mountain!

Play SMART in the parks. Like any sport, practice makes perfect so hone your skills with the smaller features first.

The weather is unpredictable, and roads can be icy. Don’t set yourself up for defeat, have good snow tires and give yourself plenty of time to get to the mountain.

Spring-like conditions change the playing field. What you skied in December will ride differently in the spring. Take a timeout before going down the slopes to learn the snow conditions.

THE MOUNTAIN THAT TRAINS

Copper Mountain is the Athlete’s Mountain and prioritizes year-round progression for all ages and ability levels in any discipline. The U.S. Revolution Tour showcases the best amateurs in halfpipe and slopestyle events in January. And in April, USASA Nationals will welcome young athletes from across the country to compete in slopestyle, halfpipe, rail jam, boarder/skier cross and slalom events. Copper is also a long-time partner of Special Olympics Colorado, supporting their athletes by providing seasonal training and hosting the Special Olympics Winter Games for decades.
