The San Manuel defense came up strong in the first offensive drive for the Warriors as the Miners forced a fumble on the first play of the drive with defensive end Anthony Garcia recovering the ball at the Warriors 14 yard line giving the Miners the short field. The Miners cashed in two plays later with running back Vincent Valdez taking the ball to the five yard line on a nine yard gain followed by running back Daniel Perez pushing his way into the end zone from five yards for the score. The PAT kick by Perez was no good for a 13 – 0 with 7:33 on the clock. The Miners drove 14 yards in two plays taking 1:06 on the drive. The Warriors began the drive at their own 22 yard line but were forced to punt going three and out by a stingy Miner defense. The San Manuel offense set up at the Warriors 36 yard line after nice punt return by Jared Gonzalez. The first two plays of the drive went incomplete. The Miners faced a third and 10 to go when Gonzalez sprinted 21 yards down to the 15 yard line where Ruiz took the ball in for a 15 yard touchdown on the next play. The PAT kick was good by Perez for a 20 -0 lead with 3:59 left in the first quarter. The Miners drove 36 yards in four plays taking 1:02 on the drive.
