MOTHERSHIP COLLABORATION Devine Calloway is bringing etnies and Chocolate together for the brand’s first joint project. Chocolate skateboards started in 1994, and ten years later Devine Calloway got on bringing his smooth style to the already stacked team. This Portland colorway is constructed in Mother Earth tones to represent the most eco-friendly state in the USA and the homeland of Mister Tyler Bledsoe, Oregon. The sole is made of blue recycled rubber to represent the clean skies of Oregon, with recycled rubber green chips representing the redwoods and pines, which exhale all that nice O2 into the air we breathe. The heelpiece has a depiction of a stag… an animal that runs wild in the forests across Oregon, which sits underneath a tan suede upper. Tan is the color of soil. The “Enjoy Oregon” tongue is a tribute to the sign which greets all those entering downtown Portland by the Burnside bridge. The insole has photos from a road trip taken from my house in Los Angeles to Tyler’s in Portland during September 2009. The Portland is available only in skate shops. -Oliver Barton

OLIVER’S FINAL THOUGHTS ON THE NEW RIDER INSPIRED FALL 10 SHOES.... ON MIKEY... Worldwide undisputed King of Bondo to all who have witnessed the quik-fixness, Mikey is the pro that you thought all pros were like when you were a little kid. This guy clocks more street time than the average homeless person, infact the only time that Mikey isn’t outside street skating is when he’s skating indoors at the Berrics! There is no easy sign off on any Mikey-endorsed etnies product: each and every item gets tireless adjustments and refinements. Whilst the Taylor 2 has probably taken years off our shoe designers’ lives, Mikey loves this shoe and that’s what our shoe designers are all about. ON MALTO.. It should be pretty obvious by now that KC’s favourite son Sean Malto, Kingpin of Deuces Wild and owner of the most mellowist disposition in skateboarding, is the most buck young buck out there. Whether he’s back nose blunting the Stanford hubba or back 5-0 grinding a rainbow transition in Boxton square, the Malto is era is not only upon us, it’s here to stay. Sean put a lot of R & D time into his first shoe. This foot piece skates better than a you know what but looks as individually refined and clean as the man himself. ON DEVINE... The first time I ever met Baketown Bad Boy Devine Calloway we roomed together on his first Chocolate trip (Canada 2004); Chocolate talent manager Sam Smyth wanted to give him a trial first; team spots on Girl and Chocolate do n’t get handed out based on video footage, if you want to run out with Gino’s and MJ’s, you gotta prove you’ve got the minerals in person. Suffice to say that when the “Se Habla Canuck” DVD came out, there was a Devine Calloway introduction part at the end. We’ve all been really pleased to have Devine on the team, he’s a piece of the jigsaw we always wanted. Devine has always had the courage and conviction to stand out from the crowd, a bold statement of individuality that is reflected in both his classically styled low top shoe and the head-turning high top bad boys. ON TYLER... Everyone has their favourites and you’re looking at mine. It’s a genuine honor to be involved in Tyler’s designed-by Portland shoe, I’m hyped on this foot piece, I’m stealing every pair of size 13s that come into the warehouse. Seriously, this shoe will come in sizes 5-12 and size 14. Tyler has been clocking heavy VX time with Chris Ray filming for the new TWS video in this shoe and says it’s the only shoe he ever wants to skate in. I would like to add that the tan colorway is the one you want, nudge nudge, wink wink.
