The Library is also a great resource for homeschool families, providing assistance with gathering materials to support your students’ needs. Learn more about all our student services at cooklib.org/kids and cooklib.org/teens A CMPLD card is a great way to expand your child’s learning beyond the classroom, but no matter your age, a Library card opens opportunities and experiences for the lifelong learner in all of us.
— David Archer, Library Director Libraries are for Everyone Cook Memorial Public Library District is committed to inclusion and accessibility. If you need accommodation for a disability in order to access the benefits of the Library’s services, programs, or activities, email your request to ADA@cooklib.org or call 847-362-2330 and we will be happy to assist you. Please note: requests for programs or meetings must be made at least five business days before the event date.
We value the close relationship we have with the excellent K-8 and high schools in our service area. Our dedicated staff members work with school staff to supplement titles from the school’s library with titles owned by our Library. We also love visiting classrooms and school fairs to provide research instruction and talk about books!
From the Director As students head back to school, be sure that a CMPLD card is on your child’s school supply list. A Library card provides access to resources that support homework, including nonfiction titles and online research tools for all subjects. Our wide fiction collection will expand your child’s vocabulary and broaden their understanding of the world around them. Let our experienced librarians suggest books based on your child’s interests to make reading an enjoyable activity!

Look for these improvements this fall: Cook Park Libertyville:Library, Our 40-yearold drafty windows in the Fiction Room will be replaced with energy efficient ones to provide a vibrant view to beautiful Cook Park. The Library will be open throughout the project, but some areas may be temporarily unavailable to allow access for workers. Aspen Drive Library, Vernon Hills: Look for enhanced landscaping and plaza improvements at the main entrance. We are also adding an electric vehicle charging station to accommodate anticipated increased demand. Both of these projects are funded from reserves set aside by the Library Board of Trustees for infrastructure improvements and maintenance. These reserves help keep our buildings attractive and well maintained for your comfort, safety, and enjoyment.

Many thanks to over 1,500 of you who completed our community survey in May, and congratulations to three randomly selected survey respondents, who each received a gift card as a thank you for participating. We learned what we’re doing well, what we can improve upon, and what priorities you’d like for us to establish to meet your needs over the next few years. We’re especially appreciative to those who participated in smaller listening sessions, where our facilitator collected additional information about how the Library can meet the future needs of our community.
