As past President of the Master Plumbers Association, and Board Member of the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre, I formed part of an Australian Delegation of Plumbing Industry Stakeholders who recently attend the United Association (UA) Instructor Training Program, held at Washtenaw Community College(WCC)inAnnAbor(USA).
The United Associations mission “Train the Trainer”, takes place each year on the campus of WCC in Ypsilanti, MI. The UA has the most admired training program in the US, I would argue the world. Their comprehensive training curriculum anticipates industry change, and prepares for future changes. https://ua.org/about-the-ua/
The delegation took part in several training activities including Industry Day, toured the amazing Mobile Training Rigs, including a round table Hydrogen / Heat PumpInformationSession, andallowsaccesstotheUS Plumbing industry’s most innovative and relevant education and technology. In July we were grateful to receive a visit from the newly appointed CEO of the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) Anna Cronin along with other representatives from the VBA’s Audit & Inspection Committee. The visit showcased our pre-fabrication initiatives and provided a platform to discuss various industry and legislative issues including the current outdated ministerial order, complex plumbing, insurance andselfcertification, plumbingfailuresandcompliance.
We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with the VBA assisting any way we can to strengthen the communication between industryandthestategovernment.

Of our live jobs, we have quite a few nearing completion and a few morethatwillbecompletedbeforetheendoftheyear.
We are pleased to report the successful completion of both the Ripley and Tugan Hospitals delivered as part of the Queensland Governments Satellite Hospitals Program. Our client (Hutchinsons) has provided positive feedback on both projects and I would like to thank both project teams led by Jordan Lowth (Ripley) and Brett Misko (Tugan) who have worked hard to deliver these health sector projects. Stage 2 of the Ripley Hospital is currently being tendered and we hope our past performance has put us in the box seat for futureworks.
Our beach loving Site Manager Brett Misko will continue his quest to find the perfect wave when he heads down to manage the Coast Luxury Apartments for client Multiplex. - New basement level end of trip facilities.
- Ground floor to Level 6 amenities refurbishment.
COMPLETED MAIN STAGES OF 342-348 FLINDERS STREET MELBOURNE
PPM have recently completed and handed over the main stages of a very historic refurbishment project on Flinders Street in Melbourne. This consisted of 2 levels of tenancy fit outs, 2 levels of amenity refurbishments and a new end of trip facility. All works were completed in a very interesting environment requiring the updating of old antiquated plumbing services. Bringing the old together with the new inside this aging concrete structure provided a challenge, including the installation of new drainage throughout the existing basement levels for the end of trip facilities. PPM navigated numerous building obstacles, existing plant and associated services to reach the new sewer pump station located in the basement. Most of these works had to be conducted outside normal working hours as there was an existing basement bookshop tenancy that was live throughout the project.

The recently completed project at 75 Dorcas Street involved turning an existing car park space into a new bathroom and amenity space consisting of male, female and DDA facilities. All drainage from these areas were dropped to the below level and ran to a new above ground sewer pump station. This project also involved refurbishment of an adjacent tenancy including new kitchen facilities. PPM employees completed this project on an accelerated program and did such a fantastic job that the building managers have reached out and are interested in engaging PPM as their maintenance plumbingcontractor.Thescope includedLevel4Tenancyfitout andnewamenityblock.
