MATT QUICK | GENERAL MANAGER
It has been a strong start to the year with several projects coming to a close and others just beginning. We are also currently in the process of final negotiations on a few new major projects, ensuring that we have a strong delivery pipeline of work. This positive start to the year demonstrates the team’s ability to attract and secure valuable business opportunities. It is important to maintain momentum and focus on the successful delivery of these projects, while also continuing to explore new opportunitiesforgrowth.
The Frankston Hospital team are starting to mobilise on site and the team structure is taking shape. We are currently in the process of working through the design phase with Lendlease and hospital stakeholders. Works have commenced within the existing facility.
Our two regional projects – Kmart Bairnsdale and Bunnings Wonthaggi are due for completion in the next few months, and I would like to acknowledge the teams on both projects for their dedication and commitment living away from homethroughouttheproject.

It's always unfortunate to see a competitor close their doors, especially when it can create uncertainty within the industry. However, it has also presented us an opportunity to fill some resource gapsandgainfurthermarketshare. It is a stark reminder that we need to stay vigilant, whilst also continuing to focus on providing a high-qualityservicetoourclients.
As we now start to move into the cooler months please keep up the good work, stay focused on delivering quality projects, and continue to strive for excellence. Your efforts and commitment are greatly appreciated and will undoubtedly lead to continued successforusall.
Epping Private Hospital

The project is in its closing stages of completionandtheteamisbusyfitting off the floors and undertaking final commissioning. The new facility sits adjacent to the Northern Hospital, home to one of the busiest emergency departments in Victoria. The $133 million Northern Private Hospital will deliver comprehensive medical, surgical and mental health services, with specialties such as general medicine, cardiology, orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology and gastroenterology.Theprojecthasbeen led by Scott O’Regan and Tom O’Loughlin, with Mark Topperwien providing significant support and mentoringforTom.
Bunnings Wonthaggi
Cooke & Dowsett have successfully delivered several Bunnings stores throughout Australia and New Zealand. This project is being delivered forH.Troon, withacouple more in the pipeline. I would like to acknowledge the dedicated team lead by our Site Manager Lucas McGee, supported by Project ManagerToddHopkins.

Well Team Qld have got the year off to a flyer in 2023 securing Coast Luxury Apartments for Multiplex, David Jones Reconfiguration for Scentre Group and Albert St Station forCBGU.
Albert St Station is the natural progression for us as we have been on the project under a day works agreement for 15 months performing anything and everything that CBGU want us to do. This has resulted in some crazy out of hours and high risk work which has come to bear fruit as we have secured the official contract. A big thanks to JezzaandThommofortheireffortsonthisjob.
Our Scentre Group project comes under the Westfield banner, where the major tenant David Jones has vacated thebuildingafterceasingalmost60yearsoftradeatthe centre. There will be a total internal demolition of the existing fit out over 2 huge floors which will now make way for 12 new tenancies. Scope includes new drainage, gas and fire systems. All the best to Luke Villanti who has taken the leap from tradesman to having a crack as a SiteManageronthisproject.
The Coast Luxury Apartments for Multiplex will be one ofthemosthighendfitoutsCDPGhascompleted. These apartments are what most of us can only dream about. Situated literally on the beach, right next to the Northcliff Surf Life Saving club, this project will be an absolute pleasure to be part of, and will be the pinnacle of any project on the Gold Coast. The design phase is well underway.Watchthisspace.
Ofourexistingprojectsonthego, wecanreportthatthe structure has finally hit L8 out of 10 at New Performing Arts Venue giving us some services to finally install. This jobhascertainlyhaditschallengesfromastructuralpoint of view, making it hard for us to get any real traction on the installation of plumbing services. Another congratulations this time to Angus Hill for taking the leap from tradesman to Site Manager. Gus has been with the company since commencing his apprenticeship and it is greattoseetheprogressioninhisplumbingcareer.
Our Queens Wharf team have finished rough in on Towers 2&3 and when you are reading this Easter newsletter,approx.70%offitoffwillbecompleted in both towers. We have a couple of boys moving into the plant room on L17 and have started penetrations to the sky deck which will link all 4 towers. This job is an absolute beast with approx. 1700constructionworkersonsiteaswespeak.

On Feb 20th we conducted our Inaugural Site Managers Training Session. This was a great opportunity to get together as a team and discuss various aspects of the roles and duties that we all face together. The day was conducted by Matt Quick and myself and was very well received by all. Thanks to allthatattendedandallthatpresented.

The Satellite Hospital at Ripley is due for handover on the 31st March and considering his time spent in the gym working onthemagnificentlookingrig,IhavetosaythatJordanonhis first project as Site Manager has delivered a very solid performance. With his very small team of just Billy (the bromancecontinues)andafewapprentices, hehasformeda strong working relationship with the team at Hutchie's, which hopefullyleadstothenextstageorotherprojects.
Down at Tugun on our other Satellite Hospital for Hutchie's, Misko and his small team are approx. 80% complete on copper rough ins, with some fit off and plant room coming on board after Easter, with the completion date of July / August wellontarget.Keepupthegoodworkteam!

Roma St Station is going along at a steady pace with water & fire services and cast-iron drainage commencing in the M&E building. All clipping out within the Adits (Tunnel from Main Station building to Subway Platform) getting done with the Trimble Total Station GPS technology. Whilst we have beenusingitforourdecksetouts, weareyettofullyutiliseit’s potentialwithinthebuilding, sothiswillbeanewspaceforus but if anyone can JT (Jarrod Thornton) can! Keep up the good worklads.

Finally at 443 Queen St, after fully completing L8 to L40, we now have a direction to remove all fixtures due to a major waterproofing fail and the builder has confirmed that we will now be reinstalling the fixtures once they re-do the waterproofing, tiling etc. What a baptismoffireforDamoandPeroonthis job, keeponpunchinggents!
Up in Cairns on the Convention Centre project, we are closing in on the final episode of the series, fit off is well underway and the project is coming together nicely. Come end of April we will all but be completed. It will be a bitter sweet end to this project but we are actively seeking to secure another project up in Cairns to keep the crew together, sowatchthisspace.

Westralia Square 2 (WS2) is a Premium grade building located in the heart of the Perth CBD, adjacent to the existing Westralia Square 1. WS2 is the first high rise timber officebuildingconstructedinPerth, encompassingaplethora of environmental benefits to businesses and occupants alike. The property has 9,500sqm of Net Lettable Area over 11 floors of office space, built on top of the existing multi-level car park providing 537 tenant and public car park bays to the WestraliaSquareprecinct.
The steel and timber construction method will result in WS2 being one of Perth’s most sustainable and environmentally friendly office buildings. Designed to achieve a 5 Star NABERS Energy Rating and 5 Star Greenstar Rating, the building’s embodied carbon credentials will substantially exceed that of its concrete competitors. The use of timber flooring, existing thermal plant in Westralia Square 1, the existing foundations and the installation of solar panels on the roof are some of the factors that contribute to the sustainable superiority of WS2. Additional precinct works also being undertaken are expected to reposition the existing WestraliaSquare1toitsformerpremiumgradestatus.
The project has been designed and installed by the CDPG team, whilstfurtherstrengthenedourrelationshipwithBuilt.

We were proud to be involved in the recently completed Murdoch New Academic Building where we partnered up with Multiplex Constructions. The project has been a great success and has seen the building, aptly named Boola Katitjin, which translates to “lots of learning” in Noongar.

Boola Katitjin was officially opened on the 14th February by Murdoch Vice Chancellor Professor Andrew Deeks and InternationalEducationMinisterDavidTemplemanMLA.
Theprojectcomprisesof:

21 large flat-floor format teaching and learning spaces, technology-rich labs, and immersive industry collaborationfacilities.
Extensive areas for informal ‘peer to peer’ learning, workspaces for staff, student services and a series of innovativeresearchandindustryengagementspaces. Universal accessibility and inclusive design including lifts, ramps, and shaded walkways, plus all gender amenities, changingplacesandparents’rooms.
The Boola Katitjin has been designed with a green future in mind including a state of the art hydraulic design and installation including a stormwater harvesting tank for reuse back into the building for grey water uses. Excess stormwater collection will recharge groundwater through alargeinfiltrationtank.

The project is tracking well with Rhys Palmer as Project Manager and we have completed the in-ground phase of the project. We are currently in production with the pre-fabricated units which are being produced out of the VIC Head Office and have been working closely withtheprefabricationteam.

Bandiana Nth
Ryan McMaster is one of our new Site Managers and is completing a fire service upgrade to a section at the Nth Bandiana defence base. This is a real challenge for Ryan and his team dealing with every existing service known to man. Sam Gallagher excavations are involvedinassistingthestreamliningoftherequiredworks.
At the tail end of last month, we gathered up some of our CDA team to complete training on Poly Butt & Electrofusion welding which was a real hit. Not only did we manage to get Ryan McMaster, Blake Helwig, Tim Carberry, Jimmy Obrien, Rhys Palmer and Conner Stewart fully accredited in PMBWELD301E & PMBWELD302E Poly Welding, it was great to train the guys on our newly completed CDA welding trailer. Big thanks to SD & OX from the CEPUTEC for making this happen.

We have completed all rough in works to the new Tech Science & Arts Buildings along with continuing onwithourinfrastructureupgradeoftheschool. This has been a challenging project working within a live school around existing services whilst maintaining full school operation - it has taken some coordination and planning. The recent welding trailer training has been put to great use in order to complete several underground horizontal bores with the trailer enabling us to weld 100m long tails of PE together.
