Rome, February 9th, 2015- Convert Italia provides 97 MW PV trackers in Chile Convert Italia SpA the Italian Company leader for more than 30 years now in the energy field will supply 97 MW solar axial trackers for the Carrera Pinto PV plant in the region of Atacama in Chile. This internationalization process engages Convert Italia on different areas of the world, such as South Africa and India; Carrera Pinto plant is a first step in the South American market. The Carrera Pinto plant will be delivered by 2015 from the general contractor Progetti International of Merloni Group; located 60 Km to the north of Copiapó, capital of the deserted region of Atacama the surface of the plant is about 180 hectares and for its capacity it will be one of the largest plants in the world built with the axial tracking technology. “This plant is only the first result of the commitment of Convert in the South American market” says Giuseppe Moro, CEO and founder of Convert Italia Spa. With a growing quota of energy from non-traditional renewable that, through gradual objectives, it will bring from 5% in 2014 to 20% expected in 2025 and a series of policies identified to support this effort, Chile is one of the most attractive countries for PV investments”. In fact, PV market in particular is growing very fast. Two years ago the installed power could not reach 4MW and 70MW
were under construction. There are now 170 MW already in operation and other 800 MW planned for 2016.
