The domestic market is still suffering, how can it become dynamic? “Italy is playing a key role in the development of printing and converting technologies for the packaging sector, but there are a few companies that are sufficiently big and well-organized to compete globally. The food multinationals that in Italy are the main end-users of printed packaging require consistent supply quality which means skilful and reliable suppliers. And reliability also means progressive updating of the machine park in order to ensure competitiveness at reduced costs”.
Being competitive also means to suggest “real” innovation… “In the latest years the sector represented by Acimga went through a stage of great technological revolution, for example, regarding digital printing developed and spread above all by foreign multinationals. Our companies develop “smaller” innovations resulting from our technicians’ insight, intelligence, bright talent and know-how. The problem is how to enhance and spread them as they deserve. Our sector is rich in excellences that, due to their solutions, help the market develop but, for a lot of reasons, it is difficult to take advantage of the results.
In this way we must improve!” What do the enterprises represented by Acimga expect from government and institutions? “What they want is a more efficient Country System and an institutional support favouring exports. In autumn we are submitting the relevant bodies our instances, but we also intend to do a lot directly as an association. We have decided to focus on a small number of potentially interesting countries, then to involve the local ICE in order to create a network of institutional and commercial partnerships helping us face the market properly”.
