Our most rugged aggregate clay. Recommended for large sculptural work.

Excellent for architectural tile. Combined grog and sand percentage near 35%.

Minimal shrinkage and virtually zero distortion after drying. Neutral to cream gray at cone 6 oxidation.

Formulated for those who love High Fire White but want to work larger forms, slabs or tile projects. Great throwing clay. The grog helps buffer the shrinkage to alleviate cracking. Fires cream white in oxidation and rich gray in reduction.

Mid fire cone 6 blend of high iron clays. “Reduction look” in oxidation. Smooth working properties with a moderate amount of sand. Very plastic, great for throwing or hand building. Good strength beginning at cone 2. Darkens when fired to cone 6 oxidation.

Rich, dark brown color. Oxidation fire only.

Buff Stoneware’s versatility makes it a primary choice for professional potters and popular clay for schools. A terrific throwing body. Ideal from functional work to tiles.

Smooth textured, super plastic clay body formulated without fireclay. Contains sand for strength. Khaki color at cone 6 oxidation. Rich, warm brown with slight iron spotting at cone 10 reduction.

BUFF STONEWARE WITH OCHRE

Mid-Fire White is a versatile, cream-colored clay body developed primarily for throwing, also great for hand building. It is our smoothest, fine-particle white stoneware body for cone 6. Dense and strong. Contains a small amount of fine, white sand.

Although commonly used at cone 6, this clay may also be used successfully in salt/soda kilns up to cone 11. Fires cream in oxidation.

The same qualities of our popular Buff Stoneware with a small addition of ochre for added color. The ochre enhances glaze results and provides a darker background. Medium brown color in oxidation, deep dark brown in reduction.

Metallic flashing in soda.

This clay has been specifically formulated for workability on the wheel. Ideal for production and school use. Easy on your hands yet has enough extra fine grog for strength. A warm orange-brown color in cone 6 electric kiln firings. Not recommended for reduction.

B Clay is our premium porcelain-stoneware blend. It has a wonderfully smooth surface.

Great for large forms with minimal cracking. B Clay with Grog is used for even larger forms, slabs or tile projects. Both show beautiful blush tones in reduction, soda, and wood firing. Cream white in oxidation, light gray in reduction.

MID-RANGE OXIDATION BODY WITH MANGANESE

SUPER WHITE

Same color and qualities as our Mid-Range Oxidation Body with the addition of granular manganese for a speckled effect. Specks bleed through glazes giving the look of reduction firing. This clay is only suitable for electric kiln firing.

The look and feel of high fire porcelain at cone 6. Bright white, mid-range combination of Grolleg porcelain and domestic clays. Formulated for whiteness, strength and ease of handling. Super White imparts the glassiness and brilliance of porcelain with the workability of stoneware. Vitreous at cone 6 but can be fired as high as cone 10. White to cream white in oxidation. Gray-white color in reduction.

Cream colored high-fire stoneware body is formulated for strength, plasticity and whiteness. Texture is smooth. Well suited for wheel work. Strong at cone 6 or cone 10.

Fireclay Stoneware is one of our most popular cone 10 stoneware clays. Widely used by production potters and in large ceramic programs. Contains fireclay, sand and fine grog for moderate tooth. FIRECLAY STONEWARE WITH IRON

GROLLEG PORCELAIN WITH NYLON FIBER

Our very popular Fireclay Stoneware body with the addition of a small percentage of red iron for warmer background clay colors in reduction. This warmer body color will also enhance glaze results. Fires tan-gray in oxidation and gray-brown in reduction.

Metallic flashing in soda.

Our classic Grolleg Porcelain with the addition of half-inch long nylon fiber strands that are virtually undetectable. This modification allows working with the porcelain in ways not usually possible. The fibers allow thinner slabs, thinner throwing, and provide greater green strength before delicate pieces are fired. You may notice fibers while trimming, but they disappear and leave no trace after work is fired.

WOOD FIRE PORCELAIN

50/50 is a combination of two high performance stoneware clays. Fireclay with Iron is used for its versatility and strength, Buff Stoneware for its plasticity and performance. Clay responds almost effortlessly. Fires a rich, golden orange-brown color with iron specks in reduction.

Our Wood Fire Porcelain is made with domestic clays. It is very easy to handle and throw. Its soft, subtle surface lends itself to dramatic flashing effects unique to wood firing. Can withstand extreme kiln conditions. Warm peach flashing in reduction. Luster highlights in soda.

SODA CLAY

Tableware clay is especially suited for functional work. It has exceptional plasticity for throwing and enhanced resistance to thermal shock in firing. Excellent choice for large forms. Contains small amounts of extra fine grog and sand. Ideal for pots fired in reduction. Slight addition of iron content gives warm background clay body color.

Soda Clay is a plastic, slightly coarse clay formulated for throwing. It reveals color tones unique to soda firing. Has a distinctive feel on the wheel and trims well. Can be fired successfully in soda or wood. Orange-brown flashing highlights.

RAKU

Same high performance formula as Tableware Stoneware but without extra iron oxide.

The result is a more neutral body color in reduction.

Developed for Raku technique, but is suitable for much more. It has exceptional thermal shock properties to withstand rapid cooling during the Raku process. Great for use in programs that need a clay body that fires at all temperatures. Widely used by potters for high fire utilitarian ware. Rich golden color at cone 10 reduction. Off white at cone 06 and cream colored at 6-10 oxidation. Orange brown in soda.

Domestic Porcelain is a wonderfully responsive and easy to throw porcelain body made with US kaolins and clays. All the qualities of traditional porcelain but is easier to throw and is an affordable alternative. Beautifully smooth and vitreous at cone 10.

Our Stoneware and Porcelain slips cast even the most challenging shapes with ease. Stoneware fires gray-beige and Porcelain fires vibrant white.

Classic porcelain clay body made with Grolleg kaolin from England for whiteness and plasticity, with finely ground flint added for translucency. A smooth, creamy formula that throws and handles like traditional handcrafted porcelain. Thin areas are translucent.

20 popular low-fire glazes in colors that work well together. Transparent fired colors are influenced by the clay body color (red or white) and glaze thickness.

Colors pool well in recessed areas and may be used over and under each other.

Achieve added dimension by applying over colored underglazes and slips.

Suitable for single dip, double dip, or brushing. Clear glaze should be applied thin.

Thick applications may result in cloudy finish.

(1 lb. dry glaze yields approx. 1 pint liquid glaze.) For best results, add dry glaze to water, not water to dry glaze.

Raku firing is an ancient Japanese firing process that produces multicolored results. No two firings are alike. Unique shades and colors are achieved by using any of our 8 Raku colors. Our White Glaze Wheat Flash Turquoise Crackle Turquoise Flash (GC127) is an excellent Raku base GC944 GC911 GC933 color. In a Raku firing, Turquoise Flash will give gold, orange, pink and copper flashes. Wheat Flash will give gold, copper, yellow and green flashes. To show crackle pattern, rub stain on and wipe clean. . Crackled glaze surfaces are not suitable for food use.

• Most of our cone 6 Matte glazes can be fired as high as cone 9 in oxidation.

CONTINENTAL CLAY MID FIRE CLEAR GLAZE: LIQUID

Our time-tested high gloss (GC110) Clear, in convenient liquid form. Milled to a perfect consistency for brushing or dipping. Clear glaze should be applied thin.

Thick applications may result in cloudy finish. Glaze will not craze when used over Continental Clay Low-Fire White or Low-Fire Red clays bisqued to proper temperature (Cone 03/04)* Important note: Bisque Low Fire clays 2 cones hotter than glaze firing temperature to prevent crazing. This will provide a better glaze and underglaze result (EXAMPLE Bisque cone 04/03, Glaze cone 06).

Our popular Cone 5-6 Clear (GC610) in liquid form. Milled to a perfect consistency for dipping or pouring. Use a thin to medium coat to highlight the natural clay color or hand-painted underglaze design. Available in Pints, Gallons and 5 Gallon pails.
