Stephen V. Sobel, M.D. graduated with Honors from Duke University and Vanderbilt University Medical School, and completed an Internship in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University prior to moving to San Diego, where he completed a Residency in Psychiatry at UC San Diego. Dr. Sobel is in the private practice of Psychiatry in Carlsbad, CA with special interests in the treatment of Depression, Mania, Anxiety Disorders, Self-Esteem Issues, OCD, PTSD, Eating Disorders, and ADD/ADHD. Dr. Sobel also has an interest in Sports Psychiatry. He has been asked to serve as a Consulting Psychiatrist for the NFL, the San Diego Chargers, Major League Baseball, the San Diego Padres, and the American Hockey League San Diego Gulls. Dr. Sobel is a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at UC San Diego School of Medicine and Supervising Psychiatrist for the award winning UCSD Free Clinic for the Homeless. Dr. Alan P. Agins received a Masters in Pharmacology & Toxicology and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Rhode Island. He has held faculty appointments at Brown University Medical School, Northeastern University School of Pharmacy and University of Virginia School of Nursing. During his tenure at Brown, Dr. Agins was the recipient of the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award for five consecutive years. Over the past twenty-four years, Dr. Agins has lectured nationally on all topics of pharmacology to more than 90,000 advanced practice clinicians and allied healthcare professionals. He has authored three books, co-authored textbook chapters and has served as primary reviewer for various journals, CE monographs, textbooks and newsletters, and has presented more than 350 live CE webinars to pharmacists for AMN Healthcare over the past 11 years. The “take-home-message” that Dr. Agins attempts to instill is to adopt a profound respect for, but also cautious attitude about drugs - what they can do…and what their limitations are.
