MAS T E R O F ARTS DEGRE E: i n e d u c at i o n a l l e a d e r s h i p a n d a d m i n i s t r at i o n Leaders from many fields including K-12, higher education, sports administration, and nonprofit organizations will benefit from this fast and flexible program. The Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration is instructed by a talented faculty composed of scholar-practitioners who bring real-world experience and nationally recognized scholarship to the teaching and learning experience. The program emphasizes: • Applied theories of educational leadership • Mastery of practical skills required for effective leadership and administration • Competence in research methods necessary for understanding and assessing learning organizations

FAST-TRACK SCHEDULE • • • • •

Designed to meet the needs of working professionals Courses completed over an 11-month period 16 weekends (Friday evenings and all day Saturdays) Five-week summer session Rigorous, practical, program requiring serious academic commitment


PRELIMINARY ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES CREDENTIAL Qualified candidates can earn the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential concurrently with the master’s degree. This practical program prepares candidates to assume positions of leadership in California’s K-12 school system. Students will gain real-world experience by participating in three quarters of fieldwork experiences in addition to classroom learning.

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES INTERNSHIP PROGRAM This internship program supports school districts that have immediate need for an administrator and are without suitable candidates. Students will earn the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential by serving in an administrative capacity as they complete the program of study.


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university • 3.0 GPA in last 90 quarter units of university work • Three letters of recommendation • Current resume or curriculum vitae • Complete questionnaires I F S EEKI N G ADMI S S IO N T O B OT H the Master’s Degree in Education and the Preliminary Administrative Services credential: • • • •

Valid California Teaching/Service Credential Five years of full-time teaching/service experience Evidence of passing the Basic Skills Requirement (i.e. CBEST) Letter of support from employing district*
