MASTER OF ARTS IN EDUCATION: SPECIALIZATION IN SPECIAL EDUCATION

MASTER OF ARTS IN EDUCATION: SPECIALIZATION IN SPECIAL EDUCATION The Master of Arts in Education, Specialization in Special Education is an integrated Masters/ Credential program in which candidates earn a preliminary special education credential in mildmoderate disabilities. In addition to in-depth methods courses and field-placement experiences, candidates participate in a year-long research project designed to improve academic, social, or behavioral outcomes for students with disabilities. Candidates will learn current research and evidence-based practices in special education with a particular focus on applied behavior analysis. By entering Cal Poly’s Integrated M.A. in Education/Education Specialist Mild Moderate Credential Program (M.A./EDSP), students have the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills that will contribute to their success as special day class teachers, resource specialists, inclusion specialists, autism specialists, or clinicians.

PRELIMINARY EDUCATION SPECIALIST MILD/MODER ATE Candidates can earn the Preliminary Services Credential concurrently with the master’s degree. This practical program prepares candidates to assume positions in California’s K-12 school system. Students will gain real-world experience by participating in three quarters of fieldwork experiences in addition to classroom learning.
