NCR 9689 This interactive course covers the key elements and best practices of Inventory Management, Direct to Consumer (DTC), and Third Party Logistics (3PL) Service Providers. It will cover topics on how and why businesses should work with Third Party Logistics (3PL), the 3PL selection process, how Inventory Management, DTC and 3PL are used in Supply Chain Management, as well as other key elements. MEET OUR NEW INSTRUCTORS

Robert Anderson has developed, managed and led high–performance multifunctional teams for Procter & Gamble, E.&J. Gallo Winery, Diageo, Pernod Ricard and Supreme Corq. His experience and repeated success with billion–dollar multinational corporations and early-stage start–ups is a testament to Cal Poly's Learn by Doing. Mr. Anderson's depth of experience will provide students with keen insights in what it takes to be successful in the wine and spirits industry. Mr. Anderson holds a MBA with a concentration in global wine marketing from the KEDGE / Business School in Finance. Cal Poly Assistant Professor, Dr. L. Federico Casassa's research lies in the broad areas of grape and wine chemistry, biochemistry and their sensory implications, with a special emphasis on applied research. His interests include chemical and sensory aspects arising from variations of berry size in red wine cultivars, and their impact during winemaking. In the past 10 years he has been involved in pilot–and commercial–scale production of red, white, rosé and late-harvest wines.

CRAFT BEER APPRECIATION NCR 9686 Can you tell the difference between a pilsner and a lager? How about a pale ale and a Belgian ale? Do you know what characteristics distinguish a wild from a sour? Take your taste buds on a frothy ride as students sample a variety of craft brews and styles from around the country, while also examining the science behind the brewing process that gives the beers such distinctively different complex flavors.

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS Ken Smith, a Certified Beer Judge since 2009, won a Silver medal this year at the National Homebrewers Competition (the largest beer competition in the world) for his Czech Dark Larger. He began homebrewing in 2002. Sam Tierney, a Quality Control Brewer at Firestone Walker Brewing Co, spent time in Germany at Doemens Academy studying brewing after graduating from UC Santa Barbara. Robert Emery, a Cal Poly Food Science graduate, is the Sensory Analyst at Firestone Walker Brewing Co.

CODING WORKSHOP CODING FOR KIDS NCR 9680 Coding drives innovation, creativity and confidence in kids. It is a key skill that gives students exposure to problem solving and logic needed across such learning disciplines as math, reading and science. The earlier that children are exposed to fundamental topics like sequencing, loops and conditionals, the more deeply they will absorb these concepts. Coding for Kids is a full day of coding for students in grades 4 through 8. Kid coders will be in a college computer lab under the direction of a skilled computer science master. Each student will have his or her own station to learn new skills and develop individualized projects at their own pace. No computer science experience is required. INSTRUCTOR

EQUINE ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY FOR HORSE OWNERS NCR 9681 Gain a better understanding of your horse's health by exploring the digestive system and common abnormal conditions, such as colic. This course goes beyond basic anatomy and takes you on a journey through the anatomical and physiological processes of equine digestion. DUBLIN WRITERS RETREAT NCR 9684 Dublin has inspired writers, poets, playwrights and dreamers for centuries. Now, here's an opportunity to learn how to pen your life story in one of the world's great literary cities. Bestselling author Franz Wisner ("Honeymoon with My Brother A Memoir") will teach morning writing classes, then guide optional afternoon excursions to famous literary landmarks in the city, Trinity College and the Long Room, James Joyce Museum and the Dublin Writers Museum. Students will learn the basics of memoir writing while being inspired by Dublin's rich history. Also included: are individual consulting and, of course, trips to storied literary pubs.
