Fourteen new products will be on display within its wide range of compaction and paving products portfolio, including the CA3500D HC (High Climb) with Seismic technology for heavy soil and aggregate compaction. “The exclusive technology in Dynapac’s Seismic rollers enables the machine to detect the soil’s natural frequency and automatically adjust the compaction parameters, allowing the drum and soil to act as one system,” explained Palanisamy. “Benefits include faster and better compaction with less energy. Seismic technology, combined with an ECO Mode, delivers fuel savings of up to 25 percent.” (See related article on page 7 for more details about Seismic rollers.) Palanisamy said another major standout will be the MF2500CS feeder with IMIX Technology that’s “challenging the status quo of the traditional material transfer vehicle or MTV. Since we launched the MF2500CS in North America in 2019, the feeder has been disrupting the MTV market.” He said it is known for its high productivity of up to 4,000 tons per hour; versatility of use with multiple materials and lowest total costs of ownership. The MF2500CS can save 60 to 70 percent in wear parts – up to $60,000 in yearly rebuild costs – and reduce fuel consumption by up to 70 percent, compared to traditional MTVs. “The feeder offers best-in-class operator comfort and visibility through fully automated, operatorassist functions and a hydraulic lifting platform,” said Palanisamy. “The unique quick-attach Swing App, which can be added in less than 20 minutes by only two people, reduces investment costs for contractors using one swing app for multiple machines in their fleet.” At CONEXPO, Dynapac will launch the muchawaited IMIX system for asphalt paving, which eliminates temperature and material segregation. smaller CP1200, which is 68 inches; however, the tire widths are wider for better coverage. It is a great sealing machine in paving trains, and with the wider tires, the finish of asphalt pavements just got better. It’s also good for chip sealing and cold in-place recycling.”

Dyn@Lyzer intelligent compaction system

Dynapac will display the upgraded Dyn@Lyzer intelligent compaction system for both soil and asphalt rollers. The newest upgrades include multimachine reading capability and transfer of the compaction and location data via cloud. “The state-of-the-art GNSS-based system features unique wireless gateway connections between the roller and the large display, making it extremely versatile,” noted Palanisamy. “When moving the system from one roller to another, it is easy and automatically adapts the compaction data to the new roller, saving a significant amount of time and money for the contractor.”

Compact compaction and paving equipment line

For the first time at CONEXPO, Dynapac will display a new line of compact compaction and paving equipment. This includes a full line of rammers,

forward plates, reversible plates, a trench roller, mix spreader and mini paver. Among them is the D.ONE trench roller with remote control that allows for uninterrupted and long-range connectivity in the toughest weather and jobsite conditions. In order to ensure good compaction results, the D.ONE comes with directed vibration technology that offers a choice of high- or lowamplitude vibration. EcoMode, Automatic Vibration Control and a maintenance-free articulated joint are some of the features designed to keep operating costs to a minimum. Drum extensions are standard, with smooth drums available as an option, allowing for maximized utilization, according to Palanisamy. The revolutionary S100 walk-behind mix spreader, which fits in the back of a pickup and can operate in relatively small and tight spaces, will be in Las Vegas. Front and reverse drive functionality removes the need to physically push the heavy load. Whether in small parking lots, cycle paths or patchwork, the swivel castor wheels make it easy to maneuver from point to point. Designed for working widths from 10 to 40 inches and a thickness of up to four inches, the S100 can be used to pave asphalt mix as well as to spread chips. The booth will also debut an F80W ride-on mini wheeled paver. It has a standard paving width of 31 to 51 inches and is ideal for patchwork, trench paving, bicycle and golf cart paths. Simplicity of control design makes it easy for the operator to learn and operate, said Palanisamy. A hydraulic-extending propane-gas-heated screed allows for paving width adjustment, and with bolt-on extensions, it can reach a maximum paving width of 65 inches.

New compact path paver

Dynapac’s CONEXPO exhibit will highlight its vast range of compaction and paving equipment, including the CP1200W pneumatic roller. “We hope attendees walk away with a greater awareness of what Dynapac can do to increase their production and lower overall owning and operating costs,” said Vijay Palanisamy, Senior Product Marketing Manager. “Our show lineup will feature everything from our smallest rammer and plate compactor to a large highway paver with extended screeds.”

Dynapac’s Marco Paris (left photo, with microphone) explains the features and benefits of Dynapac’s Seismic technology during a Seismic Tour stop at Best Line Equipment’s State College, Pa., location. (Above) Paris gives Troy Franks of Glenn O. Hawbaker a closer look at the operator platform.

Seismic Tour rolls across the country CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas serves as the

final stop on Dynapac’s Seismic Tour, a road show that crossed the country to highlight the Seismic technology in the company’s new soil compactors. In conjunction with local dealers, Dynapac personnel held multiple events during the nearly four-month jaunt that started from New Jersey in December. “The Seismic Tour has been a great way to bring this innovative technology to customers so they can see it and better understand how it works,” said Sean Engle, Dealer Sales Manager for Dynapac. “From an operator’s standpoint, it eliminates a lot of the questions with regard to frequency adjustment because the roller’s drum and the material are in sync.”

Teaming up for better results

With Dynapac Seismic technology, the drum and soil act as one system that automatically detects the natural frequency of the soil characteristics and works with it to apply the correct amount of energy. That maximizes the contact force between the drum and the ground, yielding maximized compaction and energy efficiency. It will be available standard on CA1500-CA6500 rollers. Benefits of Dynapac Seismic include faster compaction results; reduced vibration power and energy consumption of up to 30 percent; decreased noise levels; the possibility of omitting final static passes; fewer compaction passes, depending on application; and lower wear for increased machine life. Seismic also works with all types of soil or drum configurations (smooth drum, smooth drum with shell kit or padfoot drum).

Dynapac’s first step in letting a machine automatically decide compaction parameters came with the introduction of Active Bouncing Control (ABC). If the compaction energy returns to the machine with the possibility of causing damage to the machine or Sean Engle, over-compaction of material, Dealer Sales Manager vibration is actively shut off, preventing unnecessary bouncing. Now, Dynapac Seismic continues that technology as it automatically controls the frequency to achieve better compaction. Another advantage with Seismic Play Video technology is the standard-option compaction meter, which shows the operator the progress of the compaction while it performs with CMV, Evib 1 or Evib 2 values. This is beneficial because it displays compaction performance in real-time, instead of waiting for the quality control technician to confirm compaction levels, which delays the project and could result in under/over compaction. “Customer response at the tour events has been very positive,” said Marco Paris, Product Application Specialist. “They like the savings our Seismic technology provides. It’s been a blast giving them the opportunity to see it firsthand at each stop along the way.”

Second-generation commercialclass pavers

The second-generation of Dynapac commercial-class pavers will be on display, including the FC1700C, the largest in that product category. Customer feedback led to a complete tractor redesign with upgrades that include a wider 14-inch track system for improved traction; a 120-horsepower Tier 4 Final engine for pushing larger trucks; a 9.5-ton-capacity hopper that increases paving distance by one-third before truck exchange; and a newly developed operator dashboard with integrated screed heat controls. “The FC1700C is offered with the heavy-duty VF0816C screed that has best-in-class precompaction and paving quality,” said Palanisamy. “A unique screed-mounted four-auger system delivers uniform material feed in front of the screed and eliminates the need to shovel the asphalt toward the side shields when paving at full width of 15.5 feet. This auger technology enables paving 30 feet in two versus three passes on a traditional tractormounted single auger system, saving time and reducing operating costs.” The FC1400C-II is also available with the newly developed electric-heated VF0814C screed. The multi-zone screed heat system ensures failsafe uniform heating, while the tractor has a 74-horsepower engine coupled with a 12-kilowatt generator to accommodate the electric-heated screed. Dynapac’s large SD2500CS is geared toward contractors focused on achieving the best pavement quality by meeting the toughest ride specifications, such as for airport runways, racetracks and new highways. At CONEXPO, it will be paired with the newly developed V5100THE tamper high-compaction electric screed and equipped with extensions that pave 27 feet.

SD pavers and ‘THE’ screed

Another first for Dynapac at CONEXPO will be the opportunity to showcase the large SD2500CS, which is geared toward contractors focused on achieving the best pavement quality by meeting the toughest ride specifications, including airport runways, racetracks and new highways. The SD paver range is also highly suitable for RCC paving applications. “The brainpower Paver Manager 2.0 operating system, along with newly developed tractor and screed operator dashboards, will highlight our cutting-edge operating systems, enhancing confidence for paving,” Palanisamy noted. “The integrated display in the screed remotes will including levelling system control and numerous paving-related calculators and functions.” The SD2500CS offers the latest operator-assist technology systems such as Truck Assist, Light Assist, Width Assist and Screed Assist. It will be paired with the newly developed V5100THE tamper high-compaction electric screed and equipped with extensions that pave 27 feet. Dynapac’s latest “THE” screed technology allows for flexibility in adjusting pressure and vibration parameters for optimal results that further assist contractors in achieving higher precompaction levels while paving thicker pavements and a smoother finish on top layers. The unique pressure bar system allows up to 1,000 psi to be applied uniformly across the entire pavement width. Another highlight will be the Dynapac four-tube screed-extension system with the best stability of the screed during wide paving for optimal pavement quality achievement.

FoutsCo Paving Company meets goals faster using MF2500CS feeder with SwingApp When Dynapac introduced its MF2500CS feeder

in North America it delivered two configurations to the market. One is the standard model with a short conveyor, and the other adds an optional secondary conveyor, or SwingApp, that transforms the MF2500CS to a feeder that is suitable for offset applications. Play Video

FoutsCo Paving Company Operator Ivan Quezada controls material flow through a Dynapac MF2500CS with a SwingApp feeder on a paving project in Dallas. “The visibility is outstanding all the way around,” said Quezada. “I like that you can swing out the controls, which really enhances the view.”

“The SwingApp is ideal for multi-lane paving where you are using more than one paver because you can swing it up to 55 degrees to both sides,” explained Dynapac Product Application Specialist, Marco Paris. “The operator can preset it, so when they are finished with the first paver, they hit a button and it will automatically swing over to the exact spot needed to feed the second. It also works well on single-lane projects with tight spots or when you need to feed the paver from a different lane.” Texas contractor FoutsCo Paving Company recently rented an MF2500CS with SwingApp from Dynapac dealer Closner Equipment Company to perform a “mill-and-fill” project on Valley View Lane near Interstate 635 in Dallas. FoutsCo personnel removed and replaced five lanes and an island over nearly a halfmile stretch. To minimize traffic disruption, the work was done at night with only one lane closed at a time. FoutsCo Owner and CEO Lane Fouts said that ride quality was a big factor in the decision to use the MF2500CS. “It allows trucks to move in and out of the project site, unload in a quick manner and do that without making direct contact with the paver, which often creates bumps in the new asphalt.” Foreman Robert Rodriguez added that the optional SwingApp kept the project moving even through some tight spots and curves. “With a traditional material transfer vehicle (MTV), we would have to stop and readjust the conveyor at certain points, like when you turn at an intersection. With this machine and configuration, the operator can reposition the SwingApp on the fly and continue feeding the paver. Our production improved, and we were able to meet our nightly paving goal faster.”

Empty a truck in 35 seconds

The MF2500CS can reach operating speeds of up to 80 feet per minute and travel as quickly as 2.5 miles per hour on steel tracks with rubber polymer pads. Each

track is 12-feet long, which contributes to better stability compared to oversized tires on traditional MTVs. The MF2500CS, with or without the SwingApp, can be transported without the need for additional permits or time limits due to its compact width of 8 feet, 6 inches. The feeder is also designed for use in aggregate and roller-compacted concrete applications. With a 4,000-ton-per-hour capacity, the feeder can empty a 35-ton truck in as little as 35 seconds. Its unique design uses a rubber belt and roller chains to carry material from truck to paver rather than dragging it like competitive machines. Paris said that takes less horsepower and contributes to significantly lower fuel consumption to under 3 gallons per hour. FoutsCo Paving Operator Ivan Quezada said the savings were noticeable. “At the end of the night, the Dynapac still had almost a half tank left. If we had used a competitive MTV, it would have been well under a quarter of a tank.” Paris noted that the conveyor design has fewer wear points, and chains can be lubricated with a system that periodically sprinkles oil onto them. Scrapers on the bottom side of the belt, in combination with a releasing agent that’s automatically sprayed onto it, keep the machine cleaner for additional productivity gains. “Others heat their belts to try and keep them clean during asphalt paving; that contributes to faster wear, and they have the extra expense of diesel fuel to run the heater,” shared Paris. “On average, we’re getting 3,500 hours on a set of belts and chains, where the competition runs approximately one-third of that, so there is 60- to 70-percent savings on wear parts.”

Users can maximize visibility of the hopper and their surroundings with Dynapac’s Clearview operator’s platform that can be raised up to three feet with the touch of a button. It offers swing-out functionality for consoles on each side of the feeder and the ability to pivot 45 degrees. Operator comfort on the platform is further enhanced with a hard-top canopy and weather-protection shields, which also reduce the asphalt fumes toward the operator. “That bird’s-eye view lets the operators see and control the material flow, and it contributes to safety because they are better aware of where the ground personnel are at all times,” explained Rodriguez. “The MF2500CS is an innovative machine,” added Fouts, who started FoutsCo Paving Company in 2017. It now has two paving crews and a staff of about 30. “We know the quality Dynapac provides as we have used their rollers for quite some time. The feeder demonstrated it could get the job done faster and with reduced costs. It proved to be great for this application.” Quick Specs on Dynapac’s MF2500CS Feeder Model Horsepower Capacity

Contractors pack more production into less time with CT3000 tamping compactor Dynapac’s CT3000 tamping compactor is

challenging the well-known adage that slow and steady wins the race. “If a contractor needs to perform a lot of compacting on a highway, runway or for site preparation, the CT3000 is the most economical way to complete the job,” said Dynapac Dealer Sales Manager Jerry Hackett. Hackett emphasized that the CT3000 is designed to maximize productivity as the machine’s front

and rear offset drums allow operators to reach 14.5 feet of coverage in two passes. The tamping compactor is equipped with an automatic, powershift transmission that has the ability to operate both the front and rear drums at four different speeds to increase traction capacity. “The offset drums make compaction possible in fewer passes when compared to traditional 84-inch vibratory rollers,” commented Hackett. “In addition, the compactor is specifically engineered to operate at higher speeds. Those two things make it possible for the CT3000 to cover more ground and get better compaction than standard rollers.” A unique square-peg pad design enables the drum to penetrate the surface evenly in order to remove air voids and achieve greater ground density in less time. Both drums have 60 square pads that are organized in a pattern to provide maximum surface compaction.

path and works very well for all types of soils, including straight compaction and stabilization applications.”

Further enhancing the efficiency of the CT3000 is its ability to achieve optimum compaction at travel speeds of up to 9 miles per hour, more than double the speed of traditional compactors. With average production capacity of 1,000 cubic yards per hour, the CT3000 delivers significant reductions in time and fuel, while also minimizing its environmental impact.

Compacting in comfort

While time savings through efficient compaction performance is the headlining trait of the CT3000, the 25-ton roller also boasts a hydrostatic steering inner radius of approximately 10 feet; a multi-positional slope blade; and a 260-horsepower turbo-diesel engine that is available in Tier 3 or Tier 4 Final options. “It’s a lot heavier than other compactors,” said Hackett. “It compacts anything in its

In addition to raw production, operator comfort and performance were also at the forefront of the CT3000’s design, according to Hackett. The asymmetrical cab provides an ergonomic workspace with a 180-degree swivel seat that provides excellent visibility in all directions. The CT3000 also delivers a smooth ride as each drum is mounted on a pair of rubber tires, which absorbs shock and cushions vibrations. Additional design features include easy access to engine compartments and an LED lighting system. “The cab has a nice, open view,” Hackett noted. “Wherever operators look, they can see where they are cutting and rolling. Plus, the cab is very comfortable; operators don’t feel like they are on a compactor when running it.”

A Conversation with Jason Ammon

Supporting Customers for the Road Ahead Jason Ammon joined Dynapac as Vice President,

Product Support & Operations last summer, returning to where he began his career in the construction equipment industry in 2007. Through the years, Ammon has led various teams that focus on aftermarket and customer support. Ammon shares his thoughts on how product support is woven into all aspects of Dynapac’s operation.

How does Dynapac deliver product support? At Dynapac, product support is at the forefront of everything we do. It ranges from technician training and certification programs to preventive maintenance to troubleshooting a machine that is in need of repair. It also means having parts available, when and where customers need them. The best way for customers to access product support is through Dynapac’s dealer network; our dealers are our partners. We provide a multilayer, online system called Shop/Parts On-line, which our dealers can access through our website or our dealer app. This platform offers a wealth of information to support customers, such as technical parts look up and ordering, order tracking, etc. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are working on the next generation of our dealer app, which will be introduced this year. Jason Ammon says product support, including preventive maintenance, repairs and parts availability when needed, are at the forefront of everything Dynapac does.

Jason Ammon, Vice President, Product Support & Operations

What types of support does Dynapac offer? Early last year, Dynapac introduced a 24-hour parts guarantee to reduce downtime for our customers. We are committed to delivering the parts needed to get equipment back up and running again within 24 hours after a breakdown. Parts can be shipped to one of our 200 dealer locations or directly to the customer.

How does Dynapac assist its dealer network in supporting customers? We focus on education by offering extensive training for our dealers’ technicians who are on the front line of providing customer support. We see this as a partnership, so our dealers are able to back the Dynapac products they sell. Training options range from base-level orientation to highly technical troubleshooting. We offer full certification training courses, which have a minimum of 30 hours of classroom and hands-on learning. An additional way we assist our dealers in supporting customers is through our telematics solution, Dyn@Link. It is standard on all of our equipment and allows dealers to access a wealth of information, such as GPS location, running hours and maintenance schedules. This enables dealers to proactively assist customers in keeping their equipment in the best operating shape and reducing downtime.

How does the product support area get ready for new products? We prepare for new products in a couple of ways. First, a product marketing team is always reaching out to end users to find gaps in the market and determine where a need may exist. That team works closely with our engineering teams during development for any new product. Second, when a machine is going through the prototype process, we develop a proposal to ensure that all of the spare parts will be set up and ready for orders. We make sure we have the right items on the shelf before the first unit is sold. Finally, we make sure that all technical documentation is available, both for internal and external use, which includes our websites and e-commerce.

Dyn@Link, 24-hour guarantee are part of Dynapac’s efforts to maximize production The ability to track equipment and proactively use

the data to change operating practices or calculate total cost of ownership is easier than ever. That’s thanks, in large part, to telematics systems such as Dyn@Link, which provides users of Dynapac paving and compaction machinery with a wide range of information accessible through tablets, computers and a smartphone application. Three versions of Dyn@Link are available, and all include the hardware, web access and a 36-month data-connection package that can be extended after the initial period. The basic Dyna@Link option provides data on working hours, maintenance schedules and allows for geofencing. Dyn@Link Advanced adds fuel consumption, machine parameters and remote diagnostics. Those who use large asphalt pavers have access to Dyn@Link Pro, which includes paving parameters linked to geographic location and an interface to process optimization programs. “With our online portal, customers can access the information at any time and place,” said Isaac Torres, Product Marketing Manager, Aftermarket for North America. “It’s a great way to monitor, manage and optimize fleet utilization. Users can create graphs, generate reports and more. Our latest version offers the option of connecting Dynapac machines to existing systems already provided by the customer. For this,

the Dyn@Link portal uses the standard interface AEMP 1.2 and AEMP 2.0.”

Always reaching higher

Customers can set up a Dyn@Link account through their Dynapac dealer, who can also show them how to maximize their machinery’s data. It’s one of many ways that Dynapac and its dealers support customers, according to Torres.

Isaac Torres,

“Continuous improvement in our parts and Product Marketing service capabilities is always a goal,” said Manager, Aftermarket, for North America Torres. “Throughout the past several years, we have made a concerted effort to increase dealership training in both areas. We have also worked closely with dealers to build parts inventories based on the machine populations in their territories so that they have most items on hand when a customer needs them.” Dynapac now offers 24-hour parts guarantee for current production models. If the dealer doesn’t have an item in stock, Dynapac will ship the item(s) to the customer or the nearest dealer location from its central parts warehouse. “There are some restrictions, such as it has to be a breakdown situation,” said Torres. “The 24-hour parts guarantee is another aspect of our efforts to minimize customers’ downtime and maximize production. That’s always Dynapac’s central focus.”

Customers can track their equipment with Dyn@Link and use the data to change operating practices in order to maximize production and lower owning and operating costs. Dynapac also offers a 24-hour parts guarantee on current production models that are in a breakdown situation.
