Thank you for being part of the solution.
You’re helping people save money today while building a clean energy tomorrow.
Conservation voters like you won the largest climate investment in history when Pres. Biden and Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act. Now, you’re helping people find out how to use these federal benefits and be part of the climate solution.
Last fall, we launched our clean energy canvass and had overwhelmingly positive responses when talking to people at their doors. We knocked on 76,000 doors and will be knocking on another 100,000 this summer.
Our work is getting noticed by the White House and Department of Energy, and our program is being replicated across the country.
In March, Board Member Cynthia Hirsch hosted Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and Gov. Tony Evers for a home tour (pictured above) that got statewide media coverage about the benefits of Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan.
“We recently replaced the windows in our 100-yearold home. We have lower energy bills, we anticipate a tax credit, and we feel great about being part of a movement.”
– Cynthia Hirsch, Madison homeowner and WCV board vice
president

On April 2, you supported key victories in local government elections that were critical for democracy, clean energy, and clean water.
Wisconsin Conservation Voters ran our largest and most effective spring program ever! With your support, we endorsed 72 local candidates across Wisconsin and invested nearly $174,000 in 53 races. We saw the best results in communities where we’ve been organizing on issues and elections for years.
Here’s what you helped to accomplish on April 2:
Elected a new pro-conservation majority to the Green Bay Common Council.
Elected a new pro-conservation majority to the Portage County Board.
Elected a new pro-conservation majority to the Columbia County Board.
Protected a pro-conservation majority on the Eau Claire County Board.
Protected a pro-conservation majority on the La Crosse County Board, with one of our endorsed candidates defeating a 2020 fake elector.
Unfortunately, Wausau mayor Katie Rosenberg narrowly lost her race. As mayor, she did more than any other local elected official in Wisconsin to address PFAS contamination in Wausau’s drinking water. We proudly supported her election, we thank her for her years of service, and are excited to see what she does next.
Additionally, the constitutional amendments we opposed passed. These changes could make it harder for local governments to administer elections. With your help, we’ll keep working to fully fund our elections and improve voter access.
You can be proud of being a part of the largest independent spring election program in Wisconsin. Thank you!
Good news: Biden-Harris administration awards Wisconsin $62 million for solar!
Gov. Evers announced during Earth Week that the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation will be disbursing $62 million in federal funds for solar energy projects specifically to reduce energy bills for low- and moderateincome families. This funding was made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act.
Another set of constitutional amendments is coming. They must not pass.
These candidates are among more than 70 we’re endorsing across the state for the spring election. They share our values – clean water, clean energy, and an equitable, safe democracy.
On Aug. 13, the partisan primary election, voters will again be asked to decide on two ballot measures. If passed, both would have significant negative impacts on Wisconsin.
These will ask if Wisconsin should amend its constitution to prevent the governor from spending federal dollars without legislative approval and if the legislature should be the highest authority on budget appropriations.
It’s imperative that Wisconsin votes NO on both of these measures.
If these pass, Wisconsin’s efforts to fight climate change will be impaired. The Inflation Reduction Act is the largest investment in climate action in history. We finally have resources to fight climate change and Gov. Evers is taking full advantage of this once-in-a-generation opportunity to advance progress on Wisconsin’s clean energy plan.
“The governor’s authority to quickly deploy federal dollars to respond to emergencies is vital to protecting our communities. When there’s severe flooding, a health crisis like COVID-19, serious drinking water concerns, or other natural disasters, this funding is necessary to provide housing, emergency supplies, and more.”
These measures would also impact the ability to quickly respond in case of an emergency or a disaster. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Evers quickly dispersed federal aid to those who needed it most. Under the proposed constitutional amendments, that power would be diminished and communities will suffer
- Government Affairs Director Jennifer Giegerich
This is a high priority concern. Wisconsin Conservation Voters is poised to lead a coalition of electoral and issue groups to run a campaign to ensure these amendments fail. We will leverage all of our resources and talk to voters at the doors, by mail, through digital ads, and more.
It’s imperative we stop this threat. It’s yet another egregious attack on the governor’s ability to function for the people of Wisconsin. This summer, we’ll be working hard to ensure voters aren’t fooled and that they reject these terrible amendments.

This fall, we can elect pro-conservation leaders to make progress on clean water, clean energy, and voting rights.
The era of gerrymandering in Wisconsin is behind us. With our new, fair voting maps, the people of Wisconsin can actually hold lawmakers accountable for taking action on issues that matter. We can shift the balance of power enough in the November election to bring about a return to bipartisan cooperation on broadly popular conservation priorities in our state legislature, with the start of the 2025-2026 session.
The new maps are a game-changer. A pro-conservation majority in the Assembly is within reach this year, and by 2026 in the Senate. And Wisconsin voters in these newly-competitive districts will be more enthusiastic to turn out to vote, since candidates will have to appeal to the issues voters care about for the first time in a decade. This renewed enthusiasm will boost turnout and impact the U.S. Senate and Presidential races as well.
