I am absolutely privileged to share a message of support and admiration to friends and colleagues at CCIPH forthisyear’sstrategicplanningevent.
If the track record in having diverse scope and geography, best use of cuing-edge science, and community-centric approach of CCI projects in the past two years are any indication, then the organization remains in the right path to achieving biodiversity conservation with a heart and soul. Qualities that we desperatelyneedinthesetryingtimes.
Social psychologists have identified two important predictors of great teams: One is ‘gender diversity’ and the other is ‘social perceptiveness’. I am certain that all of us know the importance of the first. The second predictor, on the other hand, is defined as individualsoftheteampayingaentiontooneanother,notbeingdominatedbyoneorafewpeople,andwithequalinputsfromall membersoftheteam.

CongratulationstoourgallantteamatCCIforachievingsignificantmilestonesandaccoladeswhilemovingtheorganizationforward.

Ten years ago, the Center for Conservation (CCIPH) began as a small, hopeful spino from Fauna & Flora International Philippines. Looking back on that journey today, we are incredibly proud of how far we’vecome.Since2015,CCIPHhasfocusedonimprovingprotectedareamanagementandbiodiversity conservation by building capacity, developing science-based tools, and encouraging community participation. To date, we have supported the management of over 1.3 million hectares of protected areas, assessed 229,000 hectares of High Conservation Value Areas, and trained 5,000 forest guards, including300IndigenousPeoples.
As we look toward the next decade, we want to make conservation something everyone feels a part of. CCIPH will continue ecosystem-based conservation and broaden engagement to include businesses, government, and citizens, making conservation accessibleandinclusiveindecision-makingtoaddressthebiodiversitycrisisandclimateemergencyforasafeandeco-resilientfuture.

CCIPH has built the following foundational frameworks that will revolutionize the county’s conservation eorts.

The LAWIN Forest and Biodiversity Protection System of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - enhanced biodiversity monitoring system using technology solutions to captureandanalyzedatatoinformmanagement.

TheSukatngKalikasanFrameworkandToolkitofthePhilippines, buildsfromthetheHighConservationValueAreasandUNSystem ofEnvironmental-EconomicAccounting UN SEEA Frameworks.

Green Assessment and Recovery Framework GARF - a biodiversityandecosystem-based,post-disasterassessmentthat will inform rehabilitation, restoration, and recovery to help achieveresilience.

Enhanced (and electronic) Biodiversity Monitoring Systems (e-BMS - using technology solutions to streamline biodiversity monitoring and improve Protected and Conserved Areas domain awareness.

Philippine’s Rewilding Framework - a framework that follows ecological succession principles to restore degraded natural ecosystems and human modified ecosystems to achieve eco-resilience.

Strategic Plan 2025-2035

GOAL 1:
Increase support for the conservation and restoration of threatened and/or degraded biodiversity and ecosystems.
Create a safe operating space for biodiversity and people GOAL 2:
GOAL 3:
Strengthen participation and leadership of women, youth, indigenous peoples, and local communities to accelerate in rights-based, gender-responsive conservation and ecosystem restoration.

Strategic Plan 2025-2035

The ten-year strategic plan will help target and address significant challenges to conservation. The targets are estimated and may exceed the time frame.


Restore at least three million hectares of degraded ecosystems
Protect and reduce the conversion of at least two million hectares of natural ecosystems
Protect and stabilize populations of at least 20 vulnerable and threatened ‘Cinderellaspecies’
Establish at least one million hectares of protected and conserved areas
