Foreword

I

take this opportunity to introduce to you Millenia Agencies, which I must admit to be my pride and joy. This agency represents a developing concept anchored in my vision of what insurance agencies ought to offer in terms of services to clients they represent, as intermediaries with insurance companies.

The service based concept is founded on years of experience spent working in the insurance sector since joining UAP Provincial Insurance (Now UAP Old Mutual) in 1998. Over the years, I have worked in different capacities across every section within the organisation, from finance to sales. After 12 years, I decided to set up my agency in the year 2011 that would help me actualize my dream of being a trail blazer by creating a more personalized representation for insurance clients as it should be.

Our strategy aimed at representing our clients is anchored on two pillars; the first one being Personalized Service in serving our clients and the second one being Innovation.

he Millenia Agencies office opened its doors in 2015 and since then we have gradually grown in both the size of our client complement and in the higher standards that we maintain in our client service. Over this period, we have had 4 insurance related consultancies, expanded our reach to over 7 towns in Kenya from Nairobi to Garissa to Malindi. We have grown our client complement to 21 corporate clients from different sectors in Kenya and we have expanded our product both on the personal (7 products) and Corporate (18 products) insurance covers. We take our partners whom we work with very seriously. And as part of our efforts to manage counter-party risks, we choose the insurance companies whom we work with carefully. Over the years we have grown the number of insurance companies we work with to 7 insurance companies, working across tiers to ensure we have the right partners, offering the services that our clients need.

The Kenyan insurance sector has been developing at a muted pace and when we turn our focus to the agency representation, many agencies have long viewed potential clients for the premium they generate and their corresponding income that comes with it. We at Millenia Agencies have been working to turn the focus to the client, which in the first case is why they sought insurance. We look at ways to help the client manage the risks in the first instance and

secondly, when these risks crystallize we ensure that we play our role, in making sure that there is swift response from the insurance company, ensuring that the client does not suffer irreparable losses from delays.

Innovation is at the heart our service delivery charter, because we are constantly looking for ways and means to get our services delivered to our clients faster and effectively. We have been working at leveraging off technology, both to improve our response times, and enhance our communication channels, with our partner insurance companies ensuring that our services and communication channels are not limited to working hours, and specific locations. We have focused our innovation in service delivery to ensure that, we are available to our clients, regardless of the time or location they are operating from and we are committed to ensuring that our clients know this and take comfort in it.

It is my sincere hope that you will endeavour to partner with us as we look to making meaningful progress in the way we look at insurance services in Kenya. To achieve this we are leveraging off the depth of experience of our Principal officer Mr. Karume and at the same time, we have invested in systems that provide us with client usage analytics, to ensure that our clients are paying for what they need and use.

We believe that our independence provides our clients with the best representation Our client driven focus ensures that we maintain our independence, we are not beholden to the insurance companies, but by a focus that ensures we get the best utility for our clients in terms of their insurance needs and utilization.

In keeping our independence, we ensure our objectivity in representing our clients and ensuring that we provide a bespoke service to them.

Our team delivers depth, breadth, experience and expertise Millenia Agencies is comprised of award-winning team members led by our Principal Officer who finished in 3rd position in the Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) General insurance agent of the year award for 2019. Our team consists of established practitioners, with years of hands-on operating experience, at leading insurance companies in Kenya and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Our continued growth in our client compliment has been purely by referral from our satisfied client compliment. This means we must be doing something right to meet our vision of offering unrivalled personalized services to our clients.

We match our clients with structures that compliment their service needs Our experience is such that large corporate clients, do not need a another large corporate broker with an equally heavy structured set up to provide their insurance agency services. By contrast, large structured local or international corporates need a more nimble insurance agent who can offer bespoke services to meet the organizations needs. Millenia Agencies offers such a service.

We have focused our service delivery to ensure that our clients, especially large corporates do not suffer delays that come about as result of heavy bureaucratic processes, that are often a show case for large agencies. Since the agent plays the role of the middle person between two, often large corporates, in the form of the client and the insurance company, it guarantees better results when the agency is nimble and flexible.

Medical insurance while offered as a corporate product by the underwriters, is in every sense of the matter a very personalized service among the employees of our clients, and should be treated as such.

Healthcare plays a key role in the motivation, performance and productivity of staff and at Millenia Agencies we have made it our focus to ensure, that we offer personalized support to our clients, and not leave them under the mercy of the insurance company, but continue to play our intermediary role throughout the year. This approach has proven very popular with our clients.

Consultancy Engagements Millenia Agencies through our Principal Officer Mr. Anthony Karume has engaged in Consultancy services for a number of Organization’s including but not limited to; 1) Equity Bank – Analysis of Equity Staff In-house medical cover.

2) Karen Hospital – Improve relations with Insurance Companies to increase patient traffic to Karen Hospital.

3) Kenya Bankers Sacco – Review of Insurance needs for KBS. 4) Chesumot Diaries (Kericho) – Assess Insurance Needs for Tea and Diary Farm.

These consultancies are in line with our focus of ensuring that our clients and potential clients have all the information and competencies they need to ensure that

they subscribe for the right insurance services and the corresponding fit-for-purpose product in the usage of the covers they subscribe for.

The subscription for the right insurance services is critical especially where one is tied to the motivation, function and productivity of a client’s staff members. At Millenia Agencies we have ensured that we are able to respond to a client’s needs, mid-term, and in circumstances that are brought about by unexpected events.

The Covid-19 is one such event that has tested service providers in the medical services sector, this also includes insurance services providers such as ourselves and we are glad to inform you that we were able to step up and continue to provide our bespoke services to our clients, often under conventional and unconventional circumstances and we still continue to do so.
