School administrators declined, however, because of a scene toward the end of this movie where a professor places his hand on Elle’s leg.
Legally Blonde follows the story of Elle Woods, who is determined to prove herself more than ‘just blonde’.
Elle finds herself on an unexpected path in pursuit of her former boyfriend Warner, but defies all expectations when she wins a major trial and graduates Harvard Law with the support of her friends.
It is a delight to have directed and choreographed this show! I have always loved the story of Legally Blonde and its positive message; you should always stay true to yourself and celebrate those around you.
Elle is a perfect example of this and reflects the very essence of community theatre.
This is now my sixth show at The Conquest and what a special place it is! It is always a delight to work with the most incredible casts and creative teams who go above and beyond for every show.
From lighting to sound to costume to hair, Legally Blonde is yet another example of the sheer commitment of the Conquest’s volunteers, and a celebration of what Bromyard has to offer!
Many of the cast have returned from previous shows but we have welcomed some new faces too.
It is such a privilege to watch them grow in confidence together these past few months, and I am so proud of them all!
Outside of Conquest, I work as an education officer and youth theatre leader at the Courtyard in Hereford. I love the positive impact the arts have upon people of all ages and abilities.
Enjoy the show!

A fabulously fun international award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.
This action-packed musical explodes on the stage with memorable songs and dynamic dances. Equal parts hilarious and heart-warming warming, this musical is so much fun it should be illegal!
Legally Blonde The Musical will take you from the sorority house to the halls of justice with an incredibly bright heroine (and, of course, her chihuahua, Bruiser).
Based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical stays true to form with a peppy score and playful book. This musical is ridiculously enjoyable from start to finish.
Elle Woods appears to have it all and, as the story begins, she is expecting her boyfriend, Warner, to propose... but her life is turned upside-down when she is dumped. Warner wants to start getting serious about his life and attend Harvard.
Determined to get him back, Elle uses a combination of
fact #3
determination and charm to get into Harvard Law. There, she struggles with peers, professors, and Warner.
With the help of Paulette at the salon and new friend Emmett, Elle quickly realises her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world. She does all this with the
help of her Greek Chorus. Elle then has a big day in court, with the show ending on a real high for Elle, Emmett, Paulette and Kyle from UPS.
This musical is relatively new to the theatre world, catering to the present-day’s generation and culture.
The actress who played Elle’s mom, Tane McClure, had a much bigger role, but they cut much of it during editing because a lot of her dialogue was very racy. They toned down the overall picture and cut everyone’s dialogue so that it could go from on R to a PG-13 rating.

It’s a mammoth five-month effort with 50+ people
This might be your first visit to us here at the Conquest Theatre, and if it is, we hope it’ll be an enjoyable visit! What you might not realise from the comfort of your seat in our recentlyrefurbished auditorium, is just how much work goes on behind the scenes.
After director Rebecca Cook decided that she would love to direct Legally Blonde here, we held our first production meeting way back in May... and a lot has happened since!
Once the rights are secured for us to be allowed to put on the show in the first place, we need to assemble a production team – that
includes people like your director, assistant director, stage manager and other key roles including costume designer and props... it’s not a small team!
Everyone has an important part to play, from attending auditions to being committed to attending rehearsals and being a valuable part of such a large team. We’ve counted 50 people here so far!
One of the most crucial times of the whole process is the tech weekend, that’s when every element of the show comes together on the stage for the first time. Yes, it can be stressful, but it’s 16 hours of doing what we all love so much.
It’s the first time we really see what everything looks like, under the lights, with full costume, set and props, not to mention sound, hair and make-up. The amazing thing? That only happened last weekend.
We have to dot all the Is and cross all the Ts, but it’s a thoroughly enjoyable experience. From late nights rigging lights, to building a set designer’s vision, we couldn’t do what we do without the dedication of our volunteers. A huge number of hours have gone into Legally Blonde behind the scenes, so we hope you enjoy.

The Conquest is like a family, that’s the way the cast gets to feel. It’s understandable when you spend three nights a week together, all working towards one common goal.
The team was overwhelmed with the reaction to auditions, with dozens turning up on a sweltering
backstage when there’s a packed auditorium full of excited people.
There is no prouder moment than when a show is over, the audience has (hopefully!) enjoyed and everyone remembers why they love this so much.
There are so many unsung heroes of the Conquest Theatre team, not least the hardworkers behind the costumes for Legally Blonde and so many other productions here.
For Legally Blonde, this fantastic musical set in 2001, the whole process starts with mood boards... starting points for costume design that director Rebecca Cook has in her mind.
From there, costume extraordinaire Catharine BoydMoss gets out the tape measure for the cast and goes away and sifts through the 1,000+ costumes upstairs in our own wardrobe. She then goes away, hires some pieces from other places and looks for inspiration by supporting some of the fantastic charity shops in Bromyard, Tenbury Wells and the surrounding area.
There are also a lot of handmade designs and costumes, tailored to the actor and character. No quick job! It’s then a case of trying it on, seeing how everyone looks together and any last-minute adjustments.
Of course, none of this is possible without the help and guidance of Conquest wardrobe stalwards
Jenny Shortland and Terri Dimsdale. Thank you.
Did you know our wardrobe is open for costume hire every Saturday between 10.30am and 12.30pm?
No matter if you’re trying to source costumes for fancy dress or a production of your own, email conquest@conquest-theatre.co.uk to find out more and to see how we can help you.
