PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY May 2024 Bachelors of Architecture Graduate from North Carolina State University. Experience in various levels of practice ranging from student design-build to professional construction documentation, supplier engagement and project design. For my studio work, received 2 national design awards from the American Institute of Architecture and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture. Studying and living abroad have furthered my understanding of global architecture and taught me to seek new experiences. Using my strong creative drive, I look forward to working collaboratively towards shared goals while pursuing a path to licensure.

EXPERIENCE 2022

Adams+Associates Architectural Intern Worked as a summer intern at Adam and Associates focused on K-12 school design. Responsible for detailing various portions of a proposed high school and accelerating the final construction document set. Responsible for detailed level supplier engagement for material selection to support project timelines.

Demonstrated proficiency in Revit and AutoCad.

2022

Prague Study Abroad International Student Spent a semester abroad studying international architecture alongside prominent Czech architects. Courses focused on sustainable design, urbanism and international culture. Studio emphasis on solving real-life challenges with pragmatic design solutions. Increased architectural knowledge by visiting prominent sites across Europe.

2021

Freedom By Design Club Designer Worked collaboratively by detailing and constructing portions of the Governor Morehead School for the Blind playground. Rhino and AutoCad. Real-world exposure to architecture processes starting at design ending in construction.

Diffusion Phase 1 ABOUT

Diffusion is a two person project, produced in a studio and later submitted for the ACSA Timber In The City: Urban Habitats Competition. The site is located in Midtown Atlanta, known as the “heart of the arts”. Program totals 76,000 sqft divided into urban marketplace, short stay housing, and community use.

COLLAGE

Combining site research into a series of collages helped visualize the city’s vibrant culture, history, and architecture.

Initial sketch models composed of reclaimed lumber explored the qualities of wood while giving form to ideas.

This was completed in conjunction with hand drawing.

The scheme emphasizes an interconnectedness between building and street. The circular forms invite pedestrians off sidewalks and into the site. Diffusion mimics a forested place while elevating the urban street condition.

SITE

The curvilinear geometry expands into the landscape, generating sunken courtyards for public gathering. These memorialize the lost densified urban spaces of Atlanta due to the sprawling nature of the city. They also generate subterranean spaces for transit replacing the existing MARTA Station.

MODEL

The model was created using lasercut bristol, 1/16” chip and 1/16” cardboard. The floorplates are laminated bristol and cardboard held in place by a radiating chipboard structural system. The site was CNC’d from industrial design foam

Diffusion Phase 2 ABOUT

Diffusion examines the forest condition and the interior-dominant scheme prevalent in Atlanta in order to blur the relationship between street and interior. Variations in opacity and the interplay of skylights generates the notion of walking underneath trees in the forest. This system produces soft and diffused light throughout the enclosure.

The process sought to reject the discrepancies of the interior-facing building archetype, allowing the complexities of Atlanta and the forested city to come into play. The programmatic layout is diffused within three volumes, generating communal zones underneath and above a connecting

76,000 gross square feet. The single, centrally oriented volume represents many John Portman schemes.

Splitting the volumes creates a central gathering space accessible to the public.

Filleting the building perimeter allows for a seamless transition from public right of way to site.

GLULAM

Glulam columns are spaced at regular bay lengths with glulam girder and joist support. Where fillets occur, only the Cross Laminated Timber panel is curved and the grid remains regular.

LIGHT

Light cores strategically positioned with the building capture and disturb light to all levels of short stay housing and community zones. The timber expression reveals continuity from landscape to enclosure, demonstrating carbon sink

FACADE

Aluminum screen panels enclose the structure, varying in opacity based on privacy and solar orientation. The perforated screen protects from harsh solar heat gain, generating soft and diffused light at the interior.

Bole International Airport STATEMENT

Bole International Airport challenges the validity of global construction methods in an area of the world experiencing rapid economic growth and development. The project combines building techniques and materials familiar to the region with unconventional program.

ABOUT

Addis Ababa International Airport, the hub of Africa’s largest airline (Ethiopian Airlines) has long been in need of upgrade to meet growing passenger traffic. A new terminal in Addis Ababa has the capacity to unite the country and catalyze economic growth in the region.

GEOGRAPHY

Geographic barriers in the form of deserts and oceans isolate SubSaharan Africa. Focusing aviation efforts in the Horn of Africa alleviates transit inefficietcies, improving inter-continental connection and making Addis Ababa, Ethiopia an aviation hub.

ORDER

Bole International Airport is subdivided into 10 interconnected domes, the largest three landside, the smallest 7 airside. Ceiling height and wrapping apertures establish hierarchy within. Connections between domes contain circulation and gate seating.

NATURE

A moderate climate, daylighting, natural ventilation and thermal syncs combine to create a high efficiency, open air design. Central green space in the form of a flower garden divides secure from insecure sectors while referencing Addis Ababa’s meaning, “New Flower”.

Living in the digital age where many everyday tasks can be completed online and at home, more people than ever report feeling isolated. Public space has become an invaluable asset for social connection, free expression and well being.

East Raleigh Community Center is a lively and aesthetically unique recreational hub that fosters community relationships in an effort to mend holes created by municipal expansion and to bridge the gap between urban and suburban populations. Stemming from the lack of public amenities in the area, East Raleigh community center strives to create an inclusive environment in an effort to maximize and enhance on site public gathering.

By sinking into the site, an intimate relationship is formed between landscape and building. This reduces the structures overall presence while allowing both levels to engage directly with the outdoors. Various stairways and ADA accessible ramps navigate 14’ of site elevation.
