I just love this time of year. The colours of autumn really energise me and there’s nothing nicer than an autumnal walk on a sunny day is there. It’s a good job I like those long walks as I’m also an armchair baker and very partial to vegging out in front of the television and watching all the baking programmes!

Have you been bitten by the baking bug? If you have, then you’re in for a treat. Here’s a flavour of what’s inside this issue. There’s a recipe for Halloween Macaroons on page 43 and we have an article about Emma Chesters on page 10 who followed her dream and started a bakery business. The delicious looking muffins on the front cover are actually called Friands and were made by Emma and you will find the recipe for those on page 14 along with a Finnish apple cake. Lady Muck’s hilarious baking disasters are given a good airing on page 4 and if your excuse for not baking is that you need a new kitchen then you’ll find out how to go about getting a bespoke one on page 6. If you’re not into baking, fear not, we also have five pages of What’s On, details about the local Big Draw events, book reviews and gardening from Pippa Greenwood. Finally, if you need to promote a Christmas event for the What’s On pages in the next issue, please make sure we have all the details by October 23rd.
