Photographing graceful figures underwater allows
me to capture motion with an ethereal and surreal quality that cannot be captured on land.
I began exploring these visual qualities for my mixed media work; reinterpreting the imagery through the painterly aesthetic I have striven to create in my work throughout my career.
For AQUEOUS, I layer emulsion transfers over silver leaf and tint the works with acrylics to reinforce the connection to the fluid and reflective nature of water.
