New research is showing how important our nose really is; warning us not only about outside risks such as smoke and gas, but also about an impeding memory dysfunction. This interactive workshop will help you harness your sense of smell for better cognitive health and as a tool for early diagnosis of various ailments, including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. Your sense of smell will be tested, and you’ll leave this workshop with your own smell training kit to practice at home. Also, explore the power of scent memories to calm an agitated mind. Conejo Senior Volunteer Program (CSVP) provides Tax Assistance services at the Conejo Creek South Community Building on the first Wednesdays of each month from May-October. CSVP will prepare and file income tax returns for years 2021-2024, prepare amended returns, and lend assistance with questions arising from letters and notices from the IRS or Franchise Tax Board, as well as other general tax related issues. Conejo Valley Village (CVV), a local nonprofit agency that helps older adults age safely and independently in their own homes, is seeking caring & dependable volunteers to join their team. Build real connections and make a lasting impact in an older adult’s life!
Volunteer Opportunities:
Call Managers: 4-hour shift, once a week from home. You'll answer calls, coordinate ride requests, and support both CVV members and volunteers.
Drivers: Provide rides to doctors appointments, errands, and social outings. CVV will reimburse drivers for their mileage. Email jspivack@crpd.org or call the CSVP Office, 805-381-2742 for more information.

The Goebel Senior Center Commission (GSCC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community service organization that establishes policies relative to the operation of the Goebel Adult Community Center (GACC), as well as, acquires and allocates funds to benefit the GACC. GSCC Commissioners volunteer their time and special skills, serve on committees and assist in planning, organizing, marketing, and conducting programs to benefit the senior population. Regular commission meetings are open to the public, and held at the Goebel Adult Center on the fourth Wednesday's of each month at 1:00pm.

While not exhaustive, this valuable resource is designed to aid residents in navigating and connecting with many of the services available to older adults in Thousand Oaks and Ventura County.
