Veritas Christian Academy - Dress Code

Dress Code Philosophy

Students and staff are encouraged to work at establishing a Christian culture of appropriate dress designed for the beauty, comfort, and respect of others. Here are some basic reasons for attire practices at Veritas Christian Academy:

1. Our attire seeks to exalt the Lord with attractive, tasteful, and comfortable dress.

2. Our dress code sets the standard for modesty; this dissolves conflicts around subjective interpretations of modesty or tastefulness and everyone at the school knows what is expected of them.

3. Our dress code levels the playing field for every student regardless of economic context.

4. Our dress code promotes a sense of unity among the students, both within the walls of the school but also out in the community.

5. Just like a uniform for athletes or a costume for actors, our dress code is a physical cue that signals “school time” and promotes a readiness to learn.

6. Our dress code seeks to reflect respectful conformity to our biological gender.

Basic Guidelines

Veritas Christian Academy is a workplace for students as well as for teachers. Students should dress in a way that demonstrates their respect for the school. Therefore, students shall:

a. Dress neatly

b. Be clean

c. Be compliant

The school administration will determine if there is a violation of the dress code, either in fact or attitude. Students not complying with this dress code will be required to rectify their appearance as quickly as possible. Special days may be scheduled, such as dress-up days or Spirit Week, during which other clothing options are allowed.
