OnCriticalRaceTheory

StatementonCriticalRaceTheory(CRT)andClassicalChristianEducation

AtTyndaleClassicalAcademy,ourmissionistoprovideaneducationrootedinScriptureandthe classicaltradition,equippingstudentstopursuetruth,goodness,andbeautywhileglorifyingGodin allaspectsoflife Inthiscommitment,werejecttheframeworkofCriticalRaceTheory(CRT)as incompatiblewithabiblicalworldviewandthephilosophyofclassicalChristianeducation.

CriticalRaceTheoryviewstheworldprimarilythroughthelensofpowerdynamicsbetweenracial groups,emphasizingsystemicoppressionandcollectiveguilt.Whileitacknowledgestherealityof injustice,itultimatelyoersasecular,materialistic,anddivisivesolutionthatstandsatoddswiththe GospelofJesusChrist CRTpromotesanunderstandingofidentityandmoralitythatisgroundedin group-basedconict,ratherthaninthebiblicaltruthsofhumandignity,personalaccountability,and redemptionthroughChrist.

WhyClassicalChristianEducationAvoidsthePitfallsofCRT:

1 ImagoDei

ClassicalChristianeducationbeginswiththefoundationaltruththatallpeoplearecreatedin theimageofGod(Genesis1:27).Thisbeliefarmstheinherentworthanddignityofevery individual,regardlessofraceorethnicity.UnlikeCRT,whichemphasizesdivision,thebiblical worldviewfostersunityamongbelieversasonebodyinChrist(Galatians3:28).

2 ObjectiveTruth

CRTisrootedinpostmodernthought,whichdeniesabsolutetruthandinterpretsreality throughsubjectiveexperiencesofoppression.Incontrast,classicalChristianeducationteaches thattruthisobjective,unchanging,andgroundedinthecharacterofGod.Thistruth transcendsculturalandsocietalnarratives,providingarmfoundationforunderstanding justice,reconciliation,andhumanourishing

3 FocusonVirtueFormation

Classicaleducationprioritizescultivatingvirtue wisdom,courage,temperance,and justice throughengagementwiththeGreatBooks,Scripture,andtheliberalarts.Itseeksto formstudentsintoindividualswhoreectChrist'scharacter,ratherthanreducingthemto

categoriesofoppressorsandoppressed.Thisapproachpromoteshumility,repentance,and reconciliation,ratherthanfosteringresentmentorperpetualconict.

4 RedemptionandReconciliation

TheGospeloerstheultimatesolutiontosinanddivision WhileCRTfocusesonsystemic structuresandhumaneortstoachievejustice, theChristianfaithcallsforpersonal repentance, forgiveness, andreconciliationthroughtheredemptiveworkofChrist.Ourschool emphasizesthetransformativepoweroftheGospeltohealbrokennessandrestore relationships

5 ThePursuitofTruth,Goodness,andBeauty

CRToftenreduceseducationtoactivismandsociopoliticalcritique.Bycontrast,classical Christianeducationelevatesstudents'mindsandheartsbydirectingthemtowardeternal truths.Throughthetriviumandquadrivium,studentslearntothinkcritically,discernwisely, andappreciatetheharmonyofGod’screation,equippingthemtoengageculturewithgrace andconviction.
