General Information

Mission Statement and Beliefs

At Telos CCS, we train hearts and minds to seek God’s glory in all things.

Our mission is two-fold. First, to disciple children to know the truth in the face of a culture saturated in darkness and deception, and second, to equip students to be lifelong learners who glorify God with their hearts, souls, and minds. This begins with rightly ordered affections.

We are committed to a classical approach to education in light of a Christian worldview, grounded in Scripture. Man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever Teaching students that all knowledge comes from the Lord and is to be used to glorify Him is our goal. We are committed to developing life-long learners who use wisdom from Scripture to navigate their lives. Our desire is to come alongside families who are discipling their children, and partner with them to deliver a quality, Scripturally-based education We operate under the authority of parents, in a unique partnership. We serve students from Pre-Kindergarten through 10th grade Telos CCS operates as a ministry of FBC Crosby and is also a member of the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS), as well as the Society for Classical Learning (SCL). We hold to a Biblical definition of marriage, consisting of one man and one woman, as a picture to the world of Christ and the Church. We hold to the Biblical view on gender, that God created us male and female by design and without mistake to fulfill the roles that he set out for us. We believe that men are the head of their families, and are responsible before God for their wives and children. God’s design is beautiful and it is for our good. Submitting to him as Lord is the greatest thing we can do with our lives.

Statement of Belief

I. The Word of God

The Bible is the infallible, inerrant, fully inspired Word of God; it is divine revelation carrying the full weight of God’s authority and demanding complete and total submission. As such, the Holy Scriptures are fully sufficient to reveal all that God desires for us to know about Himself, the nature of man, the only way of salvation and how man may walk in repentance and faith.

II. The Trinity

There is one true and living God existing eternally in three persons; these three are the same in nature and essence, equal in power, glory and perfect divinity.

III. God the Father

God the Father is an infinite, eternal, unchangeable personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, justice, truth and love. He is fully omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent, not given to learning or “openness”.

IV Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son, fully God and fully man, having two natures inseparably united in one divine person without confusion, mixture, or division. Jesus was born to a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles and taught with authority. He died a substitutionary, atoning death, was raised bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, continually makes intercession for His people and will return personally and visibly to earth in glory and judgment.

V The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a personal being of one substance with the Father and the Son and proceeds eternally from them both. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. He dwells in the hearts of believers, bringing about regeneration and sanctification as an abiding helper, teacher and guide.

VI. Man

After making all other creatures, God created man, both male and female, in His image. Yet, the first man, Adam, failed to honor God and disobeyed Him. As a result, Adam and the rest of mankind became corrupted by sin and unable to please God. This left man separated from their Creator, deserving of death and eternal punishment and unable to do anything to please or know God.

VII. Atonement

Because all have not only inherited Adam’s sinful nature but willfully followed him in sin, atonement must be made for man to be reconciled to God. Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, fulfilling all righteousness and satisfied the Father's wrath in full for the sake of His people by dying a substitutionary, atoning death on the cross.

VIII. Justification

Anyone whom God brings to repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation, is justified before Him. They are forgiven their sins and the righteousness of Christ is imputed to them.

IX. The Church

Christ established the universal church as a living spiritual body composed of all regenerated persons. He designed the universal church to associate for service, worship and fellowship as the local church. The church is to consist of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith. The church is designed to follow Christ as head in the power of the Holy Spirit.

X. Christian Conduct

Christians should live for the glory of God and well-being of fellow man. He should carry himself blamelessly before the world as a faithful steward of all entrusted to him while seeking to realize full maturity in Christ.

XI. Ordinances

The Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the local church, baptism and the Lord’s Supper Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ to commemorate His death as He meets with and strengthens His bride at His table. Both baptism and the Lord’s Supper are to be observed and administered until the Lord Jesus Christ returns.

XII. The Last Things

The Lord Jesus Christ will return visibly and personally in power and glory. At this time will come the resurrection of the body and final judgment. The righteous will enjoy eternal pleasures with Christ while the wicked will suffer eternal torment.

Portrait of a Telos CCS Graduate

At TCCS, we desire that our students will be transformed by the renewing of their minds. In light of this goal, we strive to instill Scripture into each of our students at every opportunity Our prayer for our students is that God would see fit to form them into people who:

-Seek to bear the image of Christ in all things, recognizing that all humans are created in God’s image (imago dei)

-Seek first the Kingdom of God, not following the pattern of the world

-Seek to serve God and others with their unique giftings, understanding that the gospel is the answer to all of life and desiring to live it out in the presence of others

-Practice discipline and integrity with rightly ordered affections

-Respect God-appointed authority, and yet are willing and capable of stepping up and leading others

-Acknowledge that God is the creator of all truth, beauty, and goodness, and model their own work after that of His, in community with others

-Become lifelong learners who glorify God with their hearts, souls, and minds as they master primary academic disciplines to the best of their ability

-Possess a thorough grasp of history, literature, mathematics, and the sciences

-Know the truth in the face of a culture saturated in darkness and deception, and express it wisely and eloquently in their daily lives as they defend the gospel

Application and Enrollment

The application and enrollment process is completed through Class Reach. Listed below is the order in which the process works:

-Request an Interview on our website

-Admissions Interview

-Invitation to Apply

Hours of Operation

Telos CCS’s hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8:10am to 3:45pm for students in Telos Prep 4 year olds class-10th grade. Students in Telos Prep 3 year olds class dismiss at 2:15pm, unless enrolled in the Extended Day option. We ask that you respect the time of our staff and other students in the school by dropping off and picking up your child on time. We understand that unforeseen circumstances might cause a delay in pick up, so please contact the office if you know you are going to be late in picking up your child. Chronic lateness will result in a meeting with the administration and could lead to the need for a probationary plan. Any students arriving after 8:10am will need to be walked in by their parent or guardian and signed in with the staff member in the front office as tardy. Any student leaving prior to dismissal will need to be signed out in the front office by their parent or guardian.

School Calendar

The 2025-2026 school year will begin on Tuesday, September 2nd . Please see the school calendar for all holidays and breaks. The last official day of school is Thursday, May 21st

We will utilize a few Fridays throughout the year for enrichment activities that are optional for all students to participate in. We hold important culture-building events on a few Fridays as well, such as Field Day and Jump A Thon. Some of these activities may require an additional fee and/or parent accompaniment. We call these days Scholé Days, as they are meant to be restful learning experiences. Please see the attached Calendar for all important dates.

Daily Operations

Supplies

All students will need a backpack large enough to hold a standard sized folder. Students will also need a water bottle and a lunch box. For younger students, please keep a full change of clothes in a Ziploc bag with your child’s name on it in their backpack at all times. See the supply lists by grade for specifications of these items, and additional items your child will need.

Lunch and Snack

Students will need to bring lunch and a snack each day Lunch will be eaten together in the lunch room each day Snacks will be eaten in the classrooms, so please do not send especially messy items, or items that students need an abundance of help to open for their snack. Please make an effort to send foods that are beneficial for the health of your child’s body and brain. There are water fountains and a water bottle refiller easily accessible for students to refill water bottles as needed.

Cell Phones

Telos CCS is a cell phone free campus for students. Cell Phones are not to be brought to school. Social media usage at school will not be permitted. If a cell phone is being used during school hours, the teacher will take it from the student and give it to the Headmistress. Parents will be responsible for coming to pick it up from the Headmistress before or after school hours. In the event that this happens, Telos CCS is not responsible for any damages to student phones, or loss of said phones. If an emergency arises, please

do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to pass along any message needed to the students.

Student I.D. Badges

Students are issued a photo I.D. badge at the beginning of the school year, along with a lanyard. Students are expected to wear these at all times during school hours. If a student loses their I.D. badge, another will be issued to them, and a fee of $10 will be charged the first time to your FACTS account. Each additional badge issued will cost $15. Each additional lanyard will cost $5. These fees will all be invoiced via Class Reach.

Uniform Policy

As Christians, we are constantly required to filter messages that we receive from the secular world. While we live in the world and its culture, we are called to live counter-culturally (Rom. 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:9). As such, our Uniform Policy is founded upon principles that strive to reflect a Christ-centered environment. In a culture in which personal expression is exalted above all else, beauty is relative, the good of our neighbor is subordinated to the “rights” of the individual, and even the biological gender of men and women as created in the image of God (male and female) is questioned, it is the desire of Telos CCS to glorify God in both the character and culture of the school. We ask that the parents and students support a manner of dress that reflects the Christian, classical, and scholarly image of Telos Classical Christian School. As ambassadors of Christ to each other and to the watching world, the following principles guide our choice of school attire to promote unity, modesty, order, and simplicity:

1. In unity, our attire will not seek to draw attention to the individual student, but rather seek to invest in and protect the virtue and character of the portion of the body of Christ here at Telos CCS.

2. Our attire will be befitting of a heart of both modesty and humility.

3. Our attire will support the effort to maintain order throughout the school.

4. As we seek to invest in each other, our attire will support a school culture that requires an ever-decreasing necessity of oversight with simplicity of dress code choices that are free of trends that are associated with social status.

Students not complying with the uniform policy’s guidelines will be asked to take responsibility to rectify their appearances. Offenses will result in Uniform Violation Notices being sent home. These are intended to help parents and students understand the issue so that it does not happen again. Students who receive 3 or fewer Uniform Violations each semester (after the 2-week grace period at the start of school), will qualify for “Free Dress” the last week of the semester, barring other disciplinary issues. The expectation is cheerful and consistent compliance with the Uniform Policy from the students and parents as well as consistent enforcement by the school staff. Specifics for “Free Dress” will be provided closer to the end of each semester.

Student I.D. badges are to be worn at all times during school hours. This is part of the Uniform Policy.

Telos CCS utilizes “French Toast” as our Uniform shop.

Please see the Telos Uniform Policy Catalog for a detailed explanation.

Arrival and Departure

Pick up and drop-off for all students (Telos Prep through 10th grade) will be conducted on the Runneburg Rd side of the building. For drop-off, parents may park in the slanted parking spots on Runneburg and walk their child(ren) into the glass doors at the end of the Telos wing of the building upon arrival in the mornings. Doors will open at 7:50 am. Please assist your children in exiting the vehicle and making their way safely all the way into the building no later than 8:10 am. Students will line up with their teachers in their classrooms and all will walk together to Chapel or Morning Assembly, which begins at 8:15 on the dot. The closer to 7:50 students arrive, the better, which allows for students to unpack their things and take a moment to reset before we begin the school day. Students arriving after 8:10 am will be marked tardy A parent will need to ring the doorbell outside of the Telos entrance and wait for a staff member to come open the door and escort your child into the building. Parents will be asked to sign their child(ren) in on the Tardy Sheet at that time.

At dismissal, Telos Staff will walk all students (Telos Prep though 10th grade) out to their vehicles and assist them in getting in the car Parents will need to pull into the car line heading West on Runneburg, directly in front of the Telos wing of the building, between 3:30 pm and 3:40 pm so we can dismiss promptly at 3:45 pm. Please display car tags in the window of the vehicle for staff to see clearly If an alternate person is picking up your child, Telos will need notice of this from a parent or guardian, along with a description and name. The person picking up will need to have the child’s car tag, and be willing and ready to show their driver’s license for the Telos staff to verify. Please give advance notice of a change in dismissal whenever possible. Telos CCS cannot take the word of the person

picking up the child for any changes in dismissal. A parent or guardian must notify the school as early as possible so as not to hold up the dismissal process.

Events

Student Birthdays

Parents may send a treat for their child’s classmates to enjoy in celebration of their birthday. Please contact your child’s teacher to coordinate what to bring and when, so that it does not interfere with the school day. *Please be respectful of allergy notices*

School Pictures

Individual pictures will be scheduled once in the Fall semester for the I.D. badges, and once in the Spring semester with a freelance photographer for a flat fee. Digital images will be sent to the parents. There will be no printed pictures sent home with students.

Celebrations

In lieu of class parties, Telos CCS will be hosting an Incarnation Feast at Christmas time for students and staff, and an End of Year celebration that parents are warmly invited to attend. More information will be sent home about those closer to the events. Teachers may plan additional extracurricular activities that align with units of study for their classes. They will send out information about these if and when they arise.

Scholé Days

This year, we will be taking students on more Field Trips during the school day, as teachers see opportunities that fit in well with their units of study. We do plan our Jump A Thon and Field Day on Fridays. All Telos families are highly encouraged to attend, as they are so important to the culture of the school. There will be an additional cost for some of these activities that parents will be responsible for paying prior to participation. Information for

how to RSVP will be available on Class Dojo. Making reservations and payment in a timely manner will be imperative. Late accommodations may not be possible for many of the events. Parents will either need to accompany their children to these events, or make arrangements for them to attend under the care of another adult.

School Policies

Communication

Teachers will be using Class Dojo groups for ease of communication. Please download the app and you will be added to your child’s classes once they are created. This enables parents to message with teachers and other parents as a group, or individually

If you need to contact your child’s teacher during school hours, understand they may not be able to check their messages during the day. You are welcome to contact Sammi Lamb or Jill Lee in the Telos office if there is an urgent matter that you need to communicate.

Emails to teachers and administrators should be used to ask a quick, simple question and to schedule a call or conference. Face to face communication is always best in these situations. As discussed in interviews, we are a small school and a family at heart. We will work through conflict in a Biblical manner, assuming the best of one another and seeking to honor God in all things.

Telos CCS employees are not expected to respond to emails, texts, or Class Dojo messages in the evenings or on weekends or holidays, but do take parent communication seriously and strive to respond in a timely manner.

As many of our Telos CCS families are also fellow church members, please keep in mind that church functions and community events are not appropriate times or places to discuss school-related business with your child’s teacher or Telos staff. This includes, but is not limited to the discussion of assignments, grades, behavior, policies, concerns, and attendance. Telos teachers and staff are held to this expectation as well, likewise being careful not to initiate “conference conversations” at these events.

Safety and Security

Telos CCS cares deeply about the safety and security of its students and employees. Safety and emergency procedures and policies are reviewed and updated regularly in

response to the changing needs of our community. These policies and procedures are communicated and reviewed regularly with faculty, staff, and students. All students and staff are required to wear their I.D. badges at all times.

-Restroom Policy: To protect the safety and security of our students and employees, all Telos CCS restrooms designated for the use of one sex may only be used by members of that sex. Telos CCS students and employees at school functions are required to abide by this policy on campus as well. All attendees of Telos CCS events are expected to abide by this policy

Visitation

Parent involvement is very important to us. Parents are welcome to come to lunch with their children any time, except for our two days of annual assessment in the Spring. Please contact the Telos CCS office staff if you plan to come observe your child’s class so that we may facilitate your visit. The external doors remain locked during the day for safety, but parents are welcome to ring the doorbell outside of the Telos wing of the building and a staff member will grant you entrance at their earliest availability. As we have a small administrative staff, it may be a few minutes before someone can let you in. Please feel free to call if you are in need of assistance, but we ask that you refrain from knocking on doors if at all possible, as it can be disruptive to the classes located near the doors.

Medical Requirements, Medicines, and Illness

Health and Illness

policies:

If any medications need to be given during school hours, parents will need to fill out the required forms with the Headmistress. Children should not attend school should they have any signs of an illness. If your child is ill, please keep them at home until they are fever free for 24 hours without medication. Parents will be required to pick up any student exhibiting signs of an illness or a fever over 100.0. A child who is sent home from school due to illness must display an improvement of symptoms (e.g., cough, runny nose, etc) or must be free of other symptoms (e.g., fever, vomiting, diarrhea, lice, etc) without suppressing medications for a full 24 hours before returning to school. If a child is lethargic, their coloring is off, their energy level is low, etc, it does not behoove them or their peers for them to return to school.

A Doctor’s release is required to return to school after:

Hospitalization

An illness lasting 7 days or more

Loss of consciousness

Seizure activity

Head injury

Confirmation of certain communicable diseases, including, but not limited to:

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease, Chicken Pox, Strep throat, Fifths disease, the flu, Measles or Mumps, any intestinal parasites, Conjunctivitis (bacterial and/or viral), Covid-19, Pertussis, Rubella, Scabies, Scarlet fever, Tuberculosis (pulmonary), Meningitis (viral, Aseptic), Meningococcal infection, Mononucleosis infections, Hepatitis (Type A), E. Coli, Cryptosporidiosis, Campylobacteriosis, Amebiasis, Impetigo, Salmonellosis, and Shigellosis.

Medication Policies:

-Students are not permitted to carry medication of any type onto campus unless a signed form from the physician and parent is on file with the school.

-All medication should be brought to the school by the parent, legal guardian, or a responsible adult and checked in with the Headmistress.

-Medications must be brought in a new, unwrapped, sealed original container with the student’s name written on the outside of the container.

-The manufacturer’s recommendations will determine dosage amounts based on the child’s weight, unless otherwise specified by a licensed physician in an official prescription or signed note.

-Expired medications will be discarded.

-Emergency medications such as inhalers for asthma, EpiPens, seizure medications, cardiac medications, etc. will be stored in the Telos office or kept in a child-resistant bag with the teacher of the student to whom it is prescribed for quick access in the event of an emergency (Some exceptions can be made if all required forms are on file. See Administration for more information regarding students holding their own emergency medications to self-administer.)

-Parents are welcome to come up to the school to administer medication to their own child, but never to someone else’s child. If parents do so, please let the child’s teacher and office staff know so that we can document that.

-Communicate any medications given before school with the child’s teacher and office staff. This is important and helpful information for us to have in case of emergency, reaction, or return of symptoms.

-The purpose of a prescription medication must be provided before Telos CCS can dispense the medication.

-Telos CCS can not store or administer any narcotic medication.

-Medications prescribed or requested to be given three times a day or less should be administered at home if at all possible.

Diagnosed Medical Conditions:

Students with medical conditions should have treatment plans on file with the school. This includes Asthma Action Plans, Diabetes Management and Treatment Plans, Seizure Management and Treatment Plans, and Allergy and Anaphylaxis Plans. If all requirements are met, students with these conditions may be allowed to keep possession of their own emergency medications. See Headmistress for more information regarding this.

Food Allergies/Allergic Reactions:

Telos CCS will not be held responsible for the contents of student lunches, nor any complications resulting from an allergic reaction. That said, in light of Jesus’ command to love our neighbors as ourselves in Matthew 22:39, we ask fellow Telos CCS families to be mindful of other student’s needs, should any food allergies be present amongst our students.

Immunizations:

As required by the state of Texas, all students must have a current immunization record or a current Affidavit on file with Telos CCS before the first day of attendance in order to attend. You may submit these digitally by emailing them directly to slamb@fbccrosby.org or jill.lee@fbccrosby.org, or turn in physical copies to the office of Telos CCS.

Nurse Consultations:

Telos CCS does not currently have a Nurse on staff. In the event that a student is experiencing illness or injury that the Headmistress and/or Classroom Teacher are not confident in addressing alone, we will reach out to one of our two Consulting Registered Nurses for help. These two people have agreed to review information and photos if necessary and applicable, with as little identifying information as possible, from Telos CCS’s Staff and provide their recommendation for a course of action. This could include the recommendation that a student be sent home until a Doctor can check them out, or that a student is not fit to be at school, due to the potentially contagious nature of their condition. If that is the case, Parents will be notified and required to pick up that student at the earliest possible time.

Accidents

The staff of Telos CCS will make every effort to keep your child safe. If an accident does occur, parents will be notified by the teacher or Headmistress. In the event of a serious medical emergency, parents will be contacted immediately Telos staff will call emergency

services if it is deemed necessary. A medical release form is required for each student in anticipation of extreme situations such as these. Telos requires parents to keep their children’s records and medical forms updated for this reason. Telos does not have a nurse on staff, but all teachers are CPR/First Aid certified.

Behavioral Expectations and Discipline

Student behavior is extremely important, as no instruction can occur if students are not able to focus. Teachers will spend the first few weeks of school building the culture of Telos CCS using our designated culture points. Rightly ordered affections motivate student behavior. Our prayer is that God would give the students new hearts that desire the things of Him. We begin every year with a reminder of the 7 virtues that we hope to see the Lord build in our students. We put this into practice through virtue training, including establishing expectations and routines and practicing appropriate behavior with the students. All students will have a two-week grace period. Once this time period has passed, students will be expected to continue to follow those procedures and routines, and meet behavioral expectations, keeping the culture of the school, for the remainder of the year. When issues arise, discipline will be handled using the “heart check” forms that students will bring home, explaining which culture point they need further practice with. All disciplinary corrections will be based on Biblical principles. Minor disruptions are handled through correction, redirection, and reminding of the established expectations and culture of the school. The most important work we do at Telos is the work of discipling and developing Godly character and Christian virtues in the students. We will teach students to rightly relate to authority in preparation for rightly relating to their Heavenly Father Building the culture of the school requires consistent, predictable rules and expectations, as well as quick correction done in love. We love your children enough to hold them accountable and help them to live up to the expectations we have set. This is another way in which we partner with parents.

Suspension, Expulsion, and Serious Misconduct Policy

The majority of day-to-day discipline should be conducted by the classroom teacher. However, there are instances where a stronger warning or more severe penalty is needed. Such cases will be dealt with by the appropriate Administrator, Headmistress, or the Head of School himself. There are five basic offenses that will automatically necessitate such action.

They are:

1. Extreme disrespect shown to any staff member. The staff member will be the judge of whether or not extreme disrespect was shown.

2. Egregious dishonesty in any situation while at school, including lying, cheating, and stealing.

3. Rebellion, i.e., outright disobedience in response to instructions, including repeated failure to follow teacher directions or to complete tasks as assigned.

4. Fighting, i.e., striking in anger with the intention to harm another student.

5. Unkind, obscene, vulgar, or profane language, as well as taking the name of the Lord in vain.

The Headmistress will speak with the child regarding their behavior, the heart behind it, what the Bible has to say about that, and how we can honor God and love others well going forward. They may choose a portion of scripture to memorize regarding the issue, and have a brief time of prayer. The student will then call one of their parents, preferably their father, and confess what they did. The child will then have the opportunity to make restoration with those they sinned against and have been forgiven by We hope to model the Biblical processes of confession, repentance, forgiveness, and restoration for the students that will stick with them for life and help them to live in light of the gospel.

Suspension

The Headmistress or Head of School may require immediate suspension for the remainder of the day, restitution, janitorial work, parental attendance during the school day with their child, or other measures deemed appropriate. In severe cases where there is no change in the student's actions or assistance from the parents, the child will be expelled for the remainder of the school year.

The Headmistress or Head of School will normally follow the protocol below. In cases where change is evident and the student appears repentant, exceptions are possible. These exceptions will be determined by the Headmistress or Head of School.

a. First offense of any of the above-mentioned behaviors and others where the child is clearly disobeying authority – Warning, restitution/apologies, suspension for one school day. Missed work must be turned in when the child returns to school or a grade of zero will be recorded.

b. Second offense – Restitution/apologies, suspension for two school days. Missed work must be turned in when the child returns to school or a grade of zero will be recorded.

c. Third offense– Restitution/apologies, suspension for four school days. Missed work must be turned in when the child returns to school or a grade of zero will be recorded.

d. Fourth offense– Expulsion for the remainder of the school year. Re-admittance the following year will be pending a meeting with the Headmistress and/or Head of School. The case will also be taken to the Board of Directors for approval or denial.

The goal of a suspension day is to help a student feel the weight of their offense. These days should involve all their school work for the day, manual labor, difficult tasks, and discipline from the parent, intermixed with in depth conversations from parent to child (preferably Dad) to get to the heart of the matter and discuss the root of sin that caused this. They should pray together, read God’s word, and talk through what is expected and appropriate behavior for a believer

We are training children in righteousness, asking God to do what only He can do and save them. We are training them to live in light of this, as believers walk. This day should not be pleasant or involve any treats or gifts for the child. The student should not want to repeat this experience.

Suspension is carried out in a spirit of encouragement, partnership, and unity between the school and the parents to be a united team in the discipleship of the child.

Expulsion

Telos CCS realizes that expelling a student from school is a very serious matter and should always be carefully dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Forgiveness and restitution (repairing the damages through work, apologies, etc.) are fundamental to our total discipline policy. However, should a student and his parents not be able to eliminate behavioral problems before a fourth offense occurs, the student will be expelled. Expulsion cases will be taken to the Board of directors prior to a final decision being made.

Serious Misconduct

Should a student commit an act with such serious consequences that the Head of School deems it necessary, the protocol defined above may be bypassed, and suspension or expulsion imposed immediately. Examples of such serious misconduct could include acts endangering the lives of other students or staff members, gross violence/vandalism to the school facilities, violations of civil law, or any act in clear contradiction of scriptural commands. Students may be subject to school discipline for serious misconduct which occurs after school hours.

*Illegal drugs, tobacco products, and weapons are strictly prohibited at all times at Telos CCS, and any activities sponsored by and affiliated with Telos CCS. All participants in Telos CCS events are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with this policy and at no time should any participant, student or adult, be intoxicated at a school-sponsored event.

Behavioral Discipleship Plans

In the event that a student exhibits ongoing, habitual, or repeated difficulty adhering to these standards, a behavioral discipleship plan may need to be created for the student with the cooperation of the parents and school staff. As always, our hope is that God would transform the hearts of each student, leading to repentance and restoration. While the parental responsibility is the upbringing of their child, the school’s responsibility is to protect the culture of Telos CCS and all of the students therein.

Abuse and Sexual Harassment

Telos CCS’s policy is to maintain an environment free from all sexual misconduct or abuse of any student, employee, or applicant for employment. Sexual misconduct of any manner or form is expressly prohibited, and all reported or suspected occurrences of sexual misconduct or abuse will be promptly and thoroughly investigated. When abuse or sexual misbehavior of any kind is determined to have occurred, Telos CCS will take swift and appropriate disciplinary action in cooperation with its Board of Directors.

If a student or employee believes that they have been or are being subjected to any form of abuse or sexual harassment, they must immediately report it to the Headmistress, Head of School, or a faculty member Likewise, if a parent or guardian believes that a child has been or is being subjected to abuse or sexual misconduct of any kind, they should report the matter on behalf of the child. All Telos CCS employees are mandatory reporters and can face disciplinary and legal action if they fail to report any suspected abuse. A report of alleged abuse or sexual harassment or misconduct by a student, parent, or employee may be deemed to be cause enough for a thorough investigation.

All complaints will be investigated promptly The Head of School is responsible for ensuring that an appropriate and God-honoring investigation is conducted. Complaints will be handled as timely and confidentially as possible. Privacy will be protected except to the extent necessary to conduct a proper investigation.

These procedures and policies do not preempt or supercede any legal procedures or remedies otherwise available to a victim of abuse or sexual harassment or misconduct under applicable state or federal law We firmly believe all human life is created in God’s image and is to be protected.

Self Harm

Telos CCS takes all threats or expressions of self-inflicted harm seriously, and acts with the best interests of the student in mind. If a member of the school community learns of a student’s expression or intent to inflict harm to themselves, that should be shared with a Telos teacher, Headmistress, or Head of School, who respond immediately and Biblically The Headmistress will notify parents/guardians and they are required to come meet with the administration to develop a plan for helping the student and family navigate the situation in a Christ-honoring way

Threats to Student Safety

Student safety is a top priority at Telos CCS. We believe God has placed us in authority over those in our care purposefully and without error. We take the responsibility of caring for those we are discipling day in and day out very seriously. Our church administration likewise takes the safety of those placed in their care by the Lord very seriously Telos recognizes that most threats made by children or adolescents are not carried out. However, when a student makes a threat to harm or kill another child or adult, it will not be dismissed as idle talk. Additionally, statements that allude to school shootings are not taken lightly. Telos CCS will investigate and follow up on such statements and threats as the Administration deems necessary. It is the responsibility of the school to assess a situation wisely and Biblically on a case by case basis.

Our primary concern in all of these situations is honoring God. The way we care for others, speak to them, and handle crises should always point to the truth of Scripture and seek to glorify God. Telos CCS will offer Biblical counsel in any situation, as we believe in the sufficiency of Scripture for all of life.

Attendance

Students enrolled in Telos CCS are expected to be present and participate fully in all classes in which they have been enrolled when not otherwise prohibited by health regulations. Students are required to be in Chapel or Morning Assembly with their class when it begins promptly at 8:15 am each school day. Students arriving after 8:10 am will be marked tardy and parents will need to sign them in on the appropriate sheet in the Telos front office. One student’s tardiness and absence affects the entire class, including the teacher; therefore, out of love and respect for others, Telos CCS families should make every effort to be present and on time daily. We strive to teach our students to be good stewards of their time, as the Lord has charged us to do in Scripture, and to work hard as unto the Lord (Ephesians 6). Please make every effort to schedule any appointments before or after school, or on non-school days so that students are not missing valuable instruction. If students are absent for any reason, parents are asked to notify the child’s teacher by 8:00 am when at all possible, along with the reason for the absence. After eight absences, a parent conference will be scheduled to discuss the issue and decide what is best for the child. After 12 absences in one school year, Telos CCS may not be able to give a child a report card stating that they completed the grade. Parents will still be responsible for paying the remainder of their child’s tuition for that school year A plan of discipline may be created for the family that could lead to possible expulsion or revocation of allotted scholarship money. Remediation could be offered by Telos CCS on a case by case basis, possibly requiring attendance at Summer Academy, attending Friday School, repeating the grade, or other options. Attendance will be taken at 8:10 am daily for all students. In the event of repeated tardiness, the Headmistress will contact the parents for

a conference. Tardiness is very challenging for students and teachers alike, as directions must be gone over again, time for unpacking and settling in has passed, and “catching up” on the work missed requires time away from other things that are also important, such as Art class, Recess, etc. We believe that there are no meaningless moments, as God has foreordained all things. Every moment matters. We do well to teach our children the truth of this through the practice of arriving on time and prepared for the day. Three tardies will count as one absence. The rule of absences stated above will apply to this as well. Family trips and fun days are very important. Teachers are not required to provide school work ahead of time for planned absences, though they may choose to do so.

If a parent or guardian needs to pick up their child prior to dismissal, they will need to contact the Telos office and make arrangements to do so. They will then wait for a member of the Telos CCS Staff to escort the child to the parent for early release. Parents will be required to sign their child out in the Telos front office. Please make every effort to notify your child’s teacher ahead of time if you will be picking them up early so that it can be handled with as little disruption to the day as possible.

Parent Expectations

Telos CCS seeks to serve all students well. As partners with Telos CCS, parents have the following responsibilities:

-Parents are responsible for the spiritual upbringing of their children and the formation of a Biblical worldview (paideia) in them. This includes reading and memorizing Scripture together, prayer, and conversations about all aspects of life based on Biblical principles and through the lens of Scripture.

-Parents are responsible for attending services regularly at their church, and for requiring their children to attend and participate with them. This is a joyful and vital part of the Christian life-belonging to a local body of believers.

-As their child’s primary educator, parents are encouraged to do the following:

-Remain in close contact with your child’s teacher, letting them know right away if you observe your child struggling with any academic or spiritual matters. Parents are also asked to respond in a Biblical manner to any communication from Telos staff.

-Provide an orderly environment with limited interruptions and distractions for children to complete reading and homework, as well as family Bible reading and memorization. (Psalm 119:11, Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

-Involve children in the life and responsibilities of the home. Children learn much about being good stewards of their time, starting and finishing tasks, and organizing materials and thoughts through joining their parents in these tasks. Chores, cooking together, planning trips, lawn care, etc. all help children develop skills that will benefit

them in their schoolwork and in life. It is also a chance for children to learn how we glorify God in the activities of everyday life. (Ephesians 2:10)

-Encourage and require an appropriate and godly attitude and helpful speech regarding the school itself, the staff and other students therein, the assignments given, and the culture of the Telos community The way parents speak about something forms the way their children see it. The involvement of the parents likewise sends a message to the children about how important it is. Parents are asked to participate in as many Partnering with Parents Nights as possible, as well as to attend any Parent Days or special events hosted by Telos.

-Minimize time spent on electronic devices, including cell phones. Much research now shows that screen time makes it more difficult for children to pay attention, concentrate, and learn, in addition to inhibiting their fine and gross motor skills. Limiting screen time at home can greatly improve children’s ability to learn in the classroom. It is also a great way to prevent them from being influenced by the world and to require them to use the brain the Lord has provided for them to be curious, think, invent, wonder, and play

Parent Information

Tuition, Fees, and Withdrawal Policy

All tuition payments as well as incidental billing will be paid through Class Reach. There are several payment options to choose from. No refunds or prorations of tuition will be made for days that a student is absent. In the event that parents need to withdraw their child from the school, they will need to meet with the Telos staff and discuss the best course of action for all involved. Tuition contracts are for the entire year’s tuition; therefore, refunds are not offered. Families are responsible for the remainder of the school year’s tuition unless the Headmistress, Head of School, and Board of Directors decide to release the family from the tuition contract.

Students who are not current on their tuition payments or fees will not be given access to their grades or records until the matter is resolved. If tuition is consistently late, or more than 3 late notices are given in one school year, an account can be considered seriously delinquent as well. Once an account becomes seriously delinquent, Telos CCS requires a written explanation from the family, including a proposed plan for remedying the delinquency. If no explanation is received within a reasonable time, or if the explanation and proposed plan are not considered to be acceptable by the Headmistress in conjunction

with the Head of School, expulsion of the student whose account is delinquent will be considered, and the case will be brought before the Board of Directors for review

Statement on the Sanctity of Human Life

1. Scripture undeniably teaches that human life is not only precious to God, but that man has an obligation to defend all human life and punish those who unjustly take the life of another (Exodus 20:13, Genesis 9:4-6).

2. Scripture similarly teaches that human life begins at conception (Psalm 139:13-16, Psalm 127:3, Luke 1:39-45).

3. Scripture demands that man honor the elderly (Leviticus 19:32, Exodus 20:12).

Therefore, FBC Crosby is committed to honoring and defending human life from the moment of conception through the very last breath. In addition to murder or any carelessness which might endanger another, we condemn abortion, infanticide or any other act which intentionally terminates the life of a child. We affirm that not only the

medical professionals conducting these procedures or the companies selling these drugs, but the mother (and if involved, father) of the child herself will stand guilty before God for her approval and/or participation in such an atrocity.

We likewise condemn any form of euthanasia. While we celebrate the advancements in medicine which allow man to alleviate much pain and anxiety in their final days and agree that the removal of artificial and/or external devices which prolong death is often acceptable, God’s Word demands that we do nothing to hasten death even in the face of great suffering.

This statement is not meant to address all possible questions regarding the sanctity of human life, but rather those which seem most pressing in our time.

We believe that the unabashed teaching of God’s Word on these subjects can be used by His Spirit to bring those guilty of these (and all others) sins to repent and cry out to Christ Jesus as Savior and Lord.

Physical Privacy & Sexuality Policy

Purpose

In light of Telos CCS’s statement of faith, statement on marriage and sexuality, and Student Handbook, and in recognition of personal physical privacy rights and the need to ensure individual safety and maintain school discipline, this policy is enacted to advise members of the Telos CCS community of their duties with regard to use of restrooms, locker rooms, showers, and any other Telos facilities where individuals may be undressed in the presence of others.

Definitions

“Sex” means the biological condition of being male or female as determined at birth.

“Member of the Telos community” means any Telos CCS employee, volunteer, student, parent, or visitor.

Sincerely-Held Religious Belief On Sexuality

Telos CCS’s sincerely-held religious belief is that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as either male or female, and that these two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

Policy

Notwithstanding any other policy, Telos CCS restrooms, locker rooms, and showers designated for one sex shall only be used by members of that sex.

In any other Telos CCS facilities or settings where members of the Telos community may be undressed in the presence of others (e.g. changing costumes during school theatrical productions), Telos CCS shall provide separate, private areas designated for use by members of the Telos community based on their sex.

Telos CCS recognizes there may be instances where members of the Telos community experience disparity between their sex and their feelings about their sex. This disparity can motivate them to behave in ways contrary to God’s Word and His plan for their lives. Telos CCS encourages members of the Telos community who are struggling with their sexual identity to seek help from their pastor and other trained professionals who might best assist them in clarifying and defining their sexual identity in accordance with God’s Word.

Telos CCS will at all times interact with members of the Telos community according to their sex. A member of the school community who wishes to express a gender other than his or her sex is understood to be rejecting the truth and the image of God within that person. Biblical Christianity requires the body of Christ to compassionately dwell in the truth and assist those we love in doing the same (Eph. 4:15).

A member of the Telos community who openly and unrepentantly rejects their sex, either in or out of school, is rejecting the image of God within that person – behavior that dishonors the Holy Trinity and the Word of God. Such behavior constitutes a person’s failure to adhere to their commitment to abide by the behavioral standards established by Telos CCS which is cause for terminating their privilege of membership in the Telos community.

To preserve the function and integrity of Telos CCS and to provide a biblical role model to members of the Telos community and the community-at-large, it is imperative that all members of the Telos community agree to and abide by this policy

Posting

Copies of this policy shall be provided to all Telos CCS employees, volunteers, students, and parents.

Any changes to the wording of their Statement of Faith, or other governing documents would create an immediate change in those of Telos CCS as well. This is a living document, and we update it as needed. An up-to-date copy will be provided through the website as quickly as possible when changes are needed. Parents would be notified of any such changes in a timely manner.
