PARENT/STUDENT HANDBOOK

Snacks: Parents are welcome to send an easy to eat snack for mid-morning. Water is the only beverage allowed to accompany snacks, as they will be consumed in their classrooms. Exceptions are made for students with a medical necessity for juice or snacks.

SAFETY

The Board and Administration of The Terra Nova School recognize the responsibility we have in ensuring the safety of the students and staff of our school. We will continually strive to maintain stringent safety and security procedures, and be proactive in responding to any potential threats to our facility or its members. We conduct annual fire drills and active shooter to practice security on our campus.

Background Checks:

The Terra Nova School uses volunteers and teaching aids who have been background-checked for assistance in classrooms. These volunteers are under the guidance of the lead teachers within every learning group.

School Campus Security:

During school hours, students are not permitted to leave campus unsupervised. All outer doors will remain locked during school hours. Students who leave during the day must be signed out of the office and signed back in upon their return to the school that same day. Alarms and surveillance systems are in place for security purposes. Please text for admittance outside of pick up and drop off times. All visitors are required to sign in and out at the school office.

Student Pick Ups:

Parents of all students are asked to complete the list of individuals that will likely be picking up their child throughout the school year through our ClassReach system. Any child not picked up by 3:15 will be assessed an after school care fee of $25, multiple late arrivals may have to be considered by the Education Council.
