GENERALPOLICY

At Tyndale Classical Academy we wear uniforms to emphasize a spirit of unity and virtue above and beyond enforcing strict guidelines Tyndale students are each valuable members of a Christian learning community and their dress on school days reflects that reality. We desire to cultivate a professional culture that is God honoring Therefore our Uniform Policy exists to foster:

1. A Respectful and Focused Learning Environment

2. Modesty and Humility

3 Reduction of Peer Pressure and Social Stratification

4. Sense of Identity and Unity by agreeing to be of “ one form” (uniforma)

Gentlemen

• Hair that is neatly groomed, out of eyes and masculine in style. Hair should be no longer than the top of the uniform collar height in back, no longer than ear lobe and out of eyes Mohawks, spikes and other trendy hairstyles need to be combed down and within hair code requirements.

• No visible piercings or tattoos.

• Watches can not make noise, have smart technology, or be cumbersome to wear

• If watches or jewelry becomes a distraction, the teacher has the discretion to request it be removed

• Shirts must be tucked in.

• 4th grade and above must wear a black belt.

• No nail polish may be worn

• No head covering or hats may be worn indoors.

• Uniforms must be worn as designed

Ladies

• Hair must be feminine and out of eyes

• Hair accessories must be fitting to the style of the uniform.

• Ear piercings are permissible. No other visible body piercings are allowed including nose piercings

• Jewelry must be kept modest and in keeping with the uniform. No dangling or hoop earrings in the primary grades Small hoops or dangling earrings may be worn in the secondary grades

• Watches can not make noise, have smart technology, or be cumbersome to wear.

• Uniforms must be worn as designed.

• Shirts must be tucked in

Periodic Dress Days

TCA will have a few Dress Days where the girls must wear the skirt, white blouse, and black dress shoes and the boys must wear khaki pants and a white shirt with tie and black dress shoes.

Yes, all main uniform clothing must be purchased at FlynnO’Hara (exceptions: socks, shoes, belts)

All girls must wear shorts in uniform colors, black leggings or black spandex under skirts if skirts do not have built in shorts.

Black sneakers with minimal white and a black or white sole are acceptable

When the uniform or shoes begin to look unprofessional (e.g. dirty, ragged, or with holes), please replace as soon as possible.

Yes, all shirts must be tucked in, and when bottoms have belt loops, a belt must be worn

Yes, we will periodically have a Dress Day, as well as events where the more formal uniform will be worn. The blazer or sweater must be worn, ties for gentlemen, and black shoes for all.

Logo is required on all upper body shirts and sweaters.

Only TCA sweatshirts approved as uniform-wear and purchased through the school website may be worn on Core days.

Non-TCA items (coats or jackets) may not be worn inside school building once the school day has begun.
