Greeting from PYP School Counselors

Welcome back to school to all students and all new students! It is wonderful to see all students in their new grade levels.

Primary Years Program (PYP) Guidance Counselors provide professional support to the Early Years and Primary Years students to help them develop age-appropriate social and emotional skills and provide assistance during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change, or other situations impeding student progress and success.

As part of our support:

• We teach bi-monthly Guidance lessons and Thai Value lessons in the classrooms to students from Pre-K to Grade 5. Topics taught include age-appropriate emotional intelligence skills, friendship skills, social competence skills, problem-solving skills, conflict-resolution skills, coping strategies when dealing with anxiety, stress, and other strong feelings, body safety lessons, bullying prevention and response skills, and the concept and importance of all school values.

• We conduct individual and/or small group counseling sessions for students in order to handle issues related to social and emotional growth.

• We conduct an orientation meeting to the new students and new parents before the beginning of the school year.

• We collaborate closely with teachers and parents to ensure the students’ success.

• We provide consultation to parents if there are any concerns related to the students’ well-being at home.

What We Do

As the PYP Learning Inclusion Support Team, our goal is to help ensure that students have the support and skills they need to learn along with their peers. We provide direct support to students, teachers, and parents.

• With students, we help identify learning needs and provide both in-class and individualized support so that every child can access learning alongside their peers.

• With teachers, we collaborate to create and adapt teaching strategies that match the unique needs of their students.

• With parents, we offer resources and guidance that make it easier to support learning and growth at home. Parents who wish to seek guidance for home support can reach out to Mr. Craig and Ms. Luck by email.

Our goal is always to ensure that every child can thrive in an inclusive, supportive environment.

Looking Ahead

We are excited to begin a new academic year together and look forward to supporting all of our students, teachers, and families in 2025–2026!
