Editor's Note
Dear Impact Readers,
Welcome to the start of a new academic year - an especially momentous one for Concordian as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of our school’s founding! We look forward to a successful and rewarding 2025-2026 for our entire community of learners, educators, and families.
Our “Back to School” issue traditionally includes heartfelt welcomes from our senior leaders: our Founding Director, Head of School, Thai Principal, and the Chair of the Concordian Board of Trustees. This year is no exception but observant readers will notice that Khun Supakkarn Pantisoontorn, fondly known as Khun Kay, has recently been elected as Chair to the Board. We warmly congratulate her and wish her great success and lasting fulfillment in this important role!
Dessy Delevaux, Editor
Rekha Gowrishankar, Editorial Assistant
Wanlapha (Prinz) Sa-ardwong, Graphic Designer
In this issue, we also take the opportunity to update our readers on events that took place toward the end of the last academic year and over the summer break. Highlights include the “Wen Xin Cup” Chinese Writing Contest, our Pre-K and K1 Music Concert, the K3 and G5 Graduations, the One World Festival, and the Chamber Music Concert. Additionally, this summer saw the launch of our Summer School in China program - an enriching, immersive experience combining business education with cultural exploration. The Super Brand Mall internship in Shanghai offers an exceptional opportunity for our DP students as they transition from Grade 11 to Grade 12. We are once again honored to share in their journey through their vivid and thoughtful reflections.
After sharing our summer updates, we dive straight into the new academic year. Back to School Week is already behind us, our students have embarked on exciting bonding trips, and the MSSG, HSSG, and high school clubs are buzzing with activity. And, of course, our students are also busy with their classwork - keep reading to discover more about the thrilling learning experiences and events that have kicked off this year!
Lastly, we celebrate the achievements of our Concordian Dragons outside of school, share the experience of one of our Concordian families and learn more about the new food service provider on campus, About Food. You may also notice that this edition of Impact is slightly slimmer than previous ones. That’s because, for the first time in the 2025–2026 academic year, we plan to publish not three, but four issues. Our goal is to share news with you more frequently and keep our community informed in a more timely and engaging way.
We hope this issue of Impact will be enjoyable for our readers and we would like to thank all of our contributors!
Sincerely,
Dessy Delevaux Editor
Message from the Founding Director
Here at Concordian, we work together to nurture our children to be the best they can be, and to be the plant that is strong and able to give shade and fruit to those around them.
Dear Concordians,
Welcome back to the new academic year 2025-2026, and welcome our new members to the Concordian family!
Our Class of 2025 is already attending many wonderful universities around the world, as well as in Thailand, learning to become independent and striving for their dreams. I am so very proud of all of them! Thank you so much for being a part of my life, my dream, and my hope for a better world.
Again and again, parents of students of all ages ask me, “How can my children prepare for this new era of a fast-evolving world of AI technology?” It is becoming harder and harder to answer this question because things are changing so rapidly nowadays; many things that they want to be may not exist in the future, and yet, so many unexpected possibilities are waiting for them. However, I am not so worried for our Concordian graduates because I know that they are equipped with the skills to be lifelong learners. If they attended Concordian for PYP alone, they would have completed a minimum of 48 research projects. If they only attended for MYP, they must have completed at least 50 or more. Even if we count only the last two years in DP or regular classes, they would have still completed 20 projects.
I strongly believe that whatever our students want to achieve in their future, they will be able to find a way to achieve it. This is because, by the time they graduate from Concordian, they will
learn that all achievements come with tenacity and responsibility, and they will hold close to their hearts Concordian’s Mission: to lead and live life with dignity, integrity, and most importantly of all, compassion. They know to forgive others and themselves. They know that when they make mistakes, they can reflect, apologize, and learn from them.
When they fall, they have to learn to get up, walk on to a greater path, and give a helping hand to those who need it along the journey. This is also what we hope all of us will learn, as all of our graduates did. This is the key to success that comes with happiness, which may come at different times for each person. Our children are like all different kinds of plants; they will flower, bloom and give fruit at their own time. And here at Concordian, we work together to nurture our children to be the best they can be, and to be the plant that is strong and able to give shade and fruit to those around them.
Thank you all for your support. Please keep in mind our Mission and continue to be the greatest coaches and supporters of our community and our students. Thank you for letting Concordian be a part of your family. Have a wonderful and fantastic learning year!
Sincerely,
Varnnee Chearavanont Ross Founding Director
Dear Concordian Community,
Welcome to the new academic year! It is truly wonderful to see all our students back on campus, enjoying their learning experiences and having fun!
As we celebrate Concordian's 25th anniversary this year, we can be proud of what we have built together. Twenty-five years! That is a lot of students, teachers, and families who have made Concordian their home. Our common goal remains unchanged: to ensure our students receive the best possible education while staying true to themselves, their values, and being prepared to take on any challenges that come their way.
The world around us is constantly changing, and while it can feel quite overwhelming at times, it is our responsibility to work together, side by side with parents, to prepare this new generation for the future. In a world that often feels divided, we must teach our children something essential: how to be compassionate without being naive, how to be kind but also strong, and how to stand up for themselves and others.
Message from the Head of School
The world around us is constantly changing and it is our responsibility to work together, side by side with parents, to prepare this new generation for the future.
At Concordian, compassion is not just a value we teach, it is how we live each day. But we also know that being compassionate does not mean being weak. We teach our students to understand different perspectives, to help others, but also to set boundaries and stand firm when needed. We want them to be good people who can also navigate the real world successfully.
Through service projects, group work, and daily interactions, we help them understand that success goes even beyond academic excellence, it is also about making a positive difference in the lives of others.
As we mark 25 years, we think about all the students who have graduated from Concordian. They are out there in the world, using what they learned here to solve problems, help others, and raise their own families. This is what makes us so proudknowing we have helped shape good human beings who contribute to their communities.
Once again, welcome to the new year. We are excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to celebrating this special anniversary year together.
I trust that you and your loved ones enjoyed a refreshing and memorable break. The start of a new school year always brings renewed energy and optimism. It is inspiring to see our students, teachers, and families return ready to embrace new opportunities.
Over the years, I have seen how our community’s compassion, commitment, and teamwork form the foundation of our success. Even in times of challenge, this shared ethos has guided us forward.
Message from the Board of Trustees
May the months ahead be filled with inspiration, achievement, and joy, strengthening the bonds that make our community extraordinary.
As the Board of Trustees, we are privileged to work in partnership with the school’s leadership, faculty, and families. Together, we will continue to build on our strong foundation to ensure an exceptional environment for our students to learn, grow, and excel.
May the months ahead be filled with inspiration, achievement, and joy, strengthening the bonds that make our community extraordinary.
Warm regards,
Supakkarn Kay Pantisoontorn Concordian Board of Trustees Chair

Chinese Writing Contest
Concordian International School successfully held the 11th “Wen Xin” Cup Chinese Writing Contest on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The contest showcased students’ creativity and critical thinking through writing, while inspiring their passion for the Chinese language.
“文 Wen” means essay, literary. “心 Xin” means heart, core. “ 文心 Wen Xin” is also the first two characters of the famous Chinese literary critique “文心雕龙 The Mind of Literature and Carving Dragons” (AD 501-502) which first advocated for valuing both the content and text format in writing in Chinese history.
Concordian International School 于2025年4月1日(星期 二)成功举办第十一届 “ 文心杯 ” 中文写作大赛。
I am truly grateful to have won the Chinese writing competition. I have been eager to improve my writing skills, and this achievement has boosted my confidence in my Chinese abilities. This success inspires me to continue learning and to further develop my skills in Chinese in the future.

Wow! I am absolutely stunned by what I have accomplished. Coming into this test, I didn’t believe I would be able to win anything. But I challenged that doubt, and it turned out for the best. I truly appreciate my Chinese teachers, both from today and throughout the years, and I am also grateful to my mom for encouraging me to work hard on my Chinese every night.
G8 Prim 陈玉玲
I am honored and happy to win this year’s Chinese writing competition. By paying attention in class, applying key vocabulary, practicing sentence structures, and reviewing at home, I improved my writing. Setting goals and staying motivated helped me stay consistent, push myself, and achieve success.
G8 Riko 田中莉纱子
I am truly grateful to have won the Excellent Award in the “Wenxin Cup.” At first, I was uncertain, but with the encouragement of my teacher, Ms. Rong, and my own hard work, I was able to improve my Chinese and achieve this meaningful success.

Winning the Chinese Writing Competition was an unexpected joy that boosted my confidence. Though I felt unprepared, effort and creativity still shone through. I am grateful to my teachers for their support, and this experience inspires me to keep improving my skills and use writing to connect cultures.
Winning the Wen Xin Contest was unexpected but made me proud. Writing about my sister as a role model inspired me, and through this contest I improved my Chinese grammar and writing skills. This experience strengthened my confidence and ability to express ideas more effectively.
Pre-K and K1 Music Concert
On the sunny mornings of June 5 and 6, 2025, our Pre-K and K1 students put on a music concert, Kids Wonderland, at the school Amphitheater. The seats were filled with smiling moms, dads, grandparents, and other members of the school community, all excited to see our youngest stars shine on stage!
The children sang cheerful songs in both English and Chinese, with big smiles and even bigger voices. Some of the songs they performed were Hide and Seek, Let’s Make Popcorn, Two Little Birds, Sesame Street, The Courage Song, Somebody Come and Play, Love You, and Let’s Star Jump.
The concert wasn’t just about singing and dancing — it was a celebration of how much these little super stars have grown this year. They showed confidence, teamwork, and joy, making everyone in the audience so proud.
A very BIG thank you to all the members of the community who made this special event possible, and whose support is beyond our expectations. Most importantly, we applaud our Pre-K and K1 stars for lighting up the stage, bringing smiles, laughter, and a little bit of magic to everyone’s day! Bravo! We are so proud of you!

Celebrating Our K3 Graduates: From Little Seeds to Blossoming Learners
This year’s K3 Graduation Ceremony was a joyous celebration of growth, learning, and resilience. It feels like just yesterday we held our children’s little hands at the EY gate in PK during the pandemic days, and now, they are ready to take their big steps into Primary School!
Throughout their Early Years journey, our students have learned that life is filled with beautiful patterns and cycles. Just like a butterfly’s transformation or the water cycle, their own learning adventure has been a cycle of growth. From curious seeds in PK, sprouting in K1, growing stronger in K2, and finally blossoming in K3, they are now ready to spread their wings in Grade 1.
The next five years in Primary School will be filled with discovery, confidence, and responsibility. We are excited to see our graduates grow into balanced, caring, and principled young leaders, ready to face new challenges with courage and joy.
Congratulations, Class of 2036! You carry wonders inside you, and the world is waiting for you to shine!

2024–25 PYP Graduation: Honoring Achievement, Growth, and New Beginnings
On June 18, 2025, Concordian came together to celebrate the Primary Years Programme (PYP) Graduation, a milestone that marked the conclusion of our students’ journey through the primary years and the beginning of their next chapter in the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
The Class of 2032 has spent the past five years growing not only as learners but also as compassionate, principled members of our community. Throughout their time in the PYP, these students have demonstrated resilience, creativity, and curiosity—qualities that have shone through in the classroom, on stage, in competitions, and in athletics. Their accomplishments represent a balance of academic achievement and personal development that embodies the very best of the PYP experience.
The graduation ceremony itself was a joyful and inspiring occasion. As the graduates entered the Grand Theater, they were welcomed with warm applause and heartfelt encouragement from their teachers, families, and peers. The program featured meaningful speeches from administrators and teachers who reflected on the students’ achievements and expressed confidence in their readiness for the years ahead. The moment each graduate received their certificate symbolized not only the completion of the PYP but also the start of exciting new adventures.
Looking back, the success of the PYP journey reflects the shared efforts of students, teachers, parents, and administrators working together. Our educators have provided guidance and encouragement, while families have offered unwavering support. Together, this partnership has enabled our students to flourish in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
As the Class of 2032 moves forward into the MYP, they carry with them the skills, values, and attributes of the learner profile that will continue to shape their learning and their lives. The entire Concordian community takes pride in their achievements and looks forward with great anticipation to what they will accomplish next.

One World Festival 2025
On the final day of the 2025 school year
The big PYP gym was filled with cheer
Our “One World Festival” came to pass
And to the gym came every PYP class.
Africa was filled with fearsome beasts
South America showcased football feats
In Europe we went to test our might and power
Then to Asia to smell the Sakura flower
STUCO had students mining for precious gems
And racing cheese wheels to the tracks two ends
Some teachers spent the day on Indian tattoos
And some played Sato, trying not to lose
The food was great and the music fun
It was a wonderful day for everyone.
There were games to play and crafts to make
And international treats piled up to take
The students, teachers, parents and staff
Came together one last time to laugh
We said goodbye to another year at school
Celebrating the world and feeling cool
Thank you again parents and friends
For your help in making an amazing end
Working together is the only way
To give the kids such an amazing day.
Evening of Chamber Music
At the close of last school year, our students from the instrumental music department shared their music in a small but heartfelt concert, where individual performers had the chance to shine and celebrate their progress. Each performance reflected the dedication and growth of the students, creating a warm and supportive atmosphere for all. The spirit of that evening continues to inspire us with hope and encouragement as we look ahead. We wish everyone a joyful and successful new school year, filled with fresh opportunities and the joy of music.

Summer School in China: A Journey of Business Learning and Cultural Discovery
From June 23 to July 9, 2025, nearly 40 enthusiastic Concordian students from Grades 6–9 embarked on the very first project-based summer school to China. The program was developed by the Concordian team, and combined business learning, cultural exploration, and reflection in three distinct phases:
Phase 1: 3 Days at Concordian
Students began their journey at school, spending three days learning the foundations of business concepts, Chinese language, and Chinese culture. These sessions prepared them for the experiences ahead.
Phase 2: 10 Days in Yunnan
Students then flew to China for ten days of authentic learning and cultural immersion in Kunming, Dali, and Lijiang. Each day included lessons with Chinese teachers, hands-on projects, and real-world observations. Students visited historical landmarks, interacted with local communities, explored modern business districts, and experienced how technology and tradition shape daily life. They also studied sustainable business models, enjoyed delicious local foods, and admired cultural artifacts.
Phase 3: 3 Days Back at Concordian
Returning to Bangkok, students spent three days reflecting on their experiences and finalizing their business plans. They presented these in Chinese, demonstrating both their language growth and entrepreneurial thinking, before showcasing their work at a lively Business Fair for parents, teachers, and administrators.
More Than Just Learning
The program was more than an academic experience. It was filled with creativity, fun, and friendship. Students collaborated closely, built confidence, and developed fresh perspectives on both business and culture.
This first summer school to China was truly a success, and we are excited to welcome new groups of students to join the next unforgettable journey!

Super Brand Mall Internship Shanghai 2025
In the summer between Grade 11 and Grade 12, Concordian students have the chance to gain firsthand experience in the dynamic business environment and engage in language immersion through the Super Brand Mall internship program in Shanghai. Here are some reflections from the students who took part in this opportunity during the summer of 2025.
Student Reflections
My internship at Dragon E Tech in Shanghai was one of the coolest experiences I've had in high school. I worked on creating a point system for Superbrandmall that connects to real store checkout systems through APIs—actual business software that customers would use, not just practice problems from class.
The biggest challenge was dealing with messy, real-world data, which taught me that debugging is basically detective work. But when I finally got something working, it felt amazing.
Fudan Future Summer Camp
What really broadened my horizons was discovering how vast the tech field is. Working alongside experienced developers showed me specializations like system integration and API development that I never knew existed. This experience expanded my understanding of what's possible in technology and made me way more excited about computer science as a career path.
- Yong G12
The Shanghai internship was an incredible opportunity to explore Chinese universities and learn and different successful companies. Through activities such as selling durian, filming TikTok and participating in lectures taught by head of departments in Super Brand Mall I gain hands on experience and also a lot of knowledge about each departments. It was a fun yet informative internship.
- Grand G12
This internship was a valuable learning experience. From durian sales and creating TikTok content to conducting research and giving presentations, I gained a better understanding of mall operations and the broader Chinese economy. Visiting a domestic technology firm gave insights into the growing tech sector, while conversations with department heads and university visits helped me reflect on my future academic plans and goals. Overall, the trip offered meaningful insights into Chinese culture, work ethics, and the ambitious, competitive environment driving innovation, which I believe are the crucial aspects for the future.
- Cake G12
This summer, I had the privilege of attending a three week internship in Shanghai with Super Brand Mall. This internship is one that is filled with opportunities and learning experiences, one which I cannot receive elsewhere. This experience broadened my perspective of business structures, especially managing a mall, but it also provided me with life skills that are so crucial later on in life. I am grateful to have been provided this opportunity, and believe that it is a great learning experience if you want to know what college life may look like.

2025 IB Diploma Programme Results
We are proud to announce the outstanding IB results of our graduating class of 2025. This year’s cohort reached an impressive average of 35.8, which is well above the world average of 30.6. These results are well aligned with our consistent strong results from previous years. This year we also had a total of four students earning the bilingual diploma and each of our Diploma candidates met the requirements and achieved the Diploma. The resilience, dedication and collaborative spirit they demonstrated throughout the past two years embodies the values we aim to foster - preparing them not only for university success but also to make a meaningful difference in the world.

China University Fair
The Chinese University Fair 2025 brought together representatives from 27 top universities across China to meet with Concordian students and parents on June 16, 2025. The fair gave students the chance to ask personalized questions, learn about admissions, scholarships, and student life, and explore academic programs that are recognized around the world. Parents also had the opportunity to engage with representatives and better understand the pathways available for their children.
This was the first fair of its kind to be hosted at a secondary school in Thailand, and Concordian was chosen as the venue in recognition of our longstanding excellence in international and Chinese education.
The event highlighted the diversity and strength of Chinese higher education, with leading institutions such as Fudan University, Nanjing University, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Xiamen University sharing their programs and opportunities. Students left with valuable insights into future study and career possibilities and the fair inspired many to think more broadly about their global education options.

US Admissions Night: Myths Fact or Fiction?
At Concordian, university counseling is not only about guiding students through the maze of applications, it is also about equipping families with the knowledge to separate truth from rumor. On September 16th, the Counseling Department hosted a US Admissions Night: Myths – Fact or Fiction, an engaging and informative evening that brought students, parents, and university representatives together in a format unlike any other.
Adding a spark of fun, Ms. Johanna stepped into the role of Concordian’s very own game show host! With infectious energy, she invited families to cast their votes, was a statement a fact or a fiction? This interactive approach not only kept the audience on their toes but also set the stage for some surprising revelations about the US university admissions process. The night featured insights from three distinguished guests: representatives from Tufts University, University of California, Santa Cruz, and the University of Oregon. Their honest, behind-the-scenes perspectives gave Concordian families a rare glimpse into how admissions officers actually think, and why many common myths about US admissions persist.

Concordian Welcomes
China Scholarship Council Visitors
On Sunday, June 15, 2025, Concordian was honored to welcome a distinguished delegation of five visitors from the China Scholarship Council (CSC). The team included Ms. Lulu Tian, Deputy Secretary-General of CSC, and Mr. Xiaomeng Sun, Director of the Enrollment Division for International Students in China, among other representatives.
The purpose of the visit was to explore Concordian’s campus and facilities as a potential future major CSCA (Academic Proficiency Test) Paper-based Test Center in Bangkok.
The CSCA, developed under the commission of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and led by the CSC, aims to establish a unified and standardized system for international undergraduate admissions. It provides Chinese universities with a scientific, fair, and authoritative benchmark for evaluating international applicants. Comparable to the SAT in the United States and the EJU in Japan, the CSCA covers seven subjects: Professional Chinese (Humanities Chinese, Business Chinese, STEM Chinese, Medical Chinese) and Foundational Subjects (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry). With recognition from more than 2,000 universities across China, CSCA is set to become a powerful reference standard for students aspiring to study in China.
This collaboration represents an exciting opportunity for Concordian. Becoming an official CSCA test center would not only provide our students with direct access to one of the most important university admission pathways in China but also elevate Concordian’s international reputation and leadership in education. We are thrilled about the possibilities this partnership brings and look forward to the strong cooperation between Concordian and the CSC in preparing students for their future studies in China.

Welcome Back to a New School Year at Concordian!
Dear Concordian PYP Families,
Welcome to a new and exciting school year! We are delighted to have our students, parents, and teachers back on campus, ready for another year of learning, growth, and joyful experiences together.
At Concordian, our goal has always been to create a nurturing and inspiring space for every child. Over the summer, the Early Years hallway underwent an exciting transformation. Classrooms now feature updated furniture and supplies, the EY gym has a brand-new floor, the music room has been refreshed, and playgrounds have been improved to support active play. These upgrades were made with our students’ growth and joy in mind. Renovation plans are also underway to bring similar improvements to the Primary Years section soon.
Beyond the classrooms, we have also renovated our outdoor parking lot with a new roof cover, providing a safer and more convenient experience for our community.

Elementary School Back to School Week
From September 8 to 12, 2025, the PYP was excited to host its annual Back to School Week. To support parents with children in multiple grades, two different grade-level teams presented each day in the amphitheater. Primary Years sessions were held in the morning, while Early Years sessions took place in the afternoon. During each session, parents were introduced to their child’s grade-level teachers and received a detailed overview of the curriculum, including Units of Inquiry and subjects such as Thai language, Mathematics, Music, and more.
The sessions also highlighted the importance of a strong schoolhome partnership, with teachers sharing classroom routines,
home learning expectations, and helpful reminders. Each session concluded with time for parents to ask questions and share concerns, reflecting the school’s commitment to clear communication and mutual support.
It was heartwarming to see teachers’ dedication, careful preparation, and passion shine through in every presentation, as well as parents’ active engagement throughout the week. We are grateful to all who participated and look forward to an exciting and successful school year ahead!

Message from the MYP Principal
Now, in a time when machine learning and AI influence almost every aspect of life, it is more important than ever to strengthen the self of our students—their identity, character, and humanity.
A New Year of Learning, Growth, and Possibilities
Welcome back to a brand-new school year at Concordian! It is always a joy to see our community come together with fresh energy, ideas, and hopes for the year ahead.
Over the past few years, we have made notable progress as a school community. From strengthening Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills to deepening community engagement, our students have shown outstanding growth. Their academic excellence and achievements in numerous internal and external events and competitions have made us proud, not only for their results but also for their perseverance, creativity, and teamwork. We are truly honored to be part of each student’s learning journey.
As we look ahead, technology, and especially AI, is playing an ever-growing role in education and our daily lives. These powerful tools offer students new opportunities to enrich their learning, but they also bring the risk of overwhelming information and distractions. To truly prepare for real-world challenges, we must focus on meaningful practices that build lasting skills and deep understanding.
At the heart of our mission, the IB Learner Profile Attributes, together with Concordian Valudes, continue to guide us. Even before the pandemic, Concordian placed emphasis on nurturing these attributes as a core part of our program. Now, in a time when machine learning and AI influence almost every aspect of life, it is more important than ever to strengthen the self of our students—their identity, character, and humanity.
Let us remember to focus on who we are, what we can be, and what we will become, with AI and technology serving as tools we harness, never as forces that control us. Our goal is to bring out the talents, strengths, and creativity in every learner at Concordian. This is what will bring true joy, accomplishment, and growth to our students, and what makes our school community so special.
Here’s to another year of meaningful learning, joyful discovery, and shared success!
Ms. Min Li MYP Principal
Welcome back to a brand-new academic year! I am so excited to see many smiling faces filling our classrooms and hallways once again. Each new year is a fresh chapter filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and create wonderful memories together.
A very special welcome goes to our new students who are joining the Concordian community for the first time. Lovely to have them with us and I am confident all will quickly feel at home, make new friends, and discover the many opportunities Concordian has to offer.
It’s also a great pleasure to welcome several enthusiastic new teachers who bring fresh energy, passion, and creativity into the secondary school classrooms. Along with our dedicated returning teachers, everyone is ready to support student learning and inspire each other to achieve the best.
Message from the DP Principal
Together, let’s make this year a time of discovery, collaboration, and success. With everyone’s curiosity, hard work, and enthusiasm, I know this will be a wonderful school year for all of us!
You may also notice some exciting changes around the school—the MYP hallways have been newly renovated, and our bright display boards, with Concordian Mission and Vision, are waiting to showcase student achievements, talents, and creativity throughout the year. I hope these updates make our school days even more enjoyable and inspiring.
Together, let’s make this year a time of discovery, collaboration, and success. With everyone’s curiosity, hard work, and enthusiasm, I know this will be a wonderful school year for all of us!

Interview with Ms. Linh Vice-Principal of Student Life
Impact: Please tell us about yourself.
I am a Vietnamese American who grew up in Southern California. After completing my bachelor’s degrees in both Education and Theology at Loyola University New Orleans, I went on to earn a master’s in Educational Leadership, including a principal internship at Concordia Shanghai in 2012.
In my younger years, I loved outdoor camping, gymnastics, and volleyball. These days, I find joy in quieter moments—a long, relaxing massage or watching the sunrise by the beach.
My Catholic upbringing has always been a guiding force in my life, shaping the values I live by and the way I teach. Faith continues to anchor me today. My husband and I attend mass together regularly, and we share a deep commitment to giving back through community service. For me, faith is not just personal—it’s about living with purpose and extending compassion outward.
Impact: Why did you choose Thailand for your international career and what do you enjoy most about living here?
I like to say that I didn’t choose Thailand—Thailand chose me. Back in 2003, Ruamrudee International School in Bangkok recruited me to revive its religion program. From that moment on, I fell in love with the country and have made it my home for the past 22 years. The only time I stepped away was for a four-year teaching opportunity in China, during a period of political unrest in Thailand. Otherwise, this country, its culture, and its people have been an enduring part of both my personal and professional journey.
Impact: How has being at Concordian made you a better person and a better teacher?
Concordian’s mission has inspired me to be more intentional in how I live out integrity and compassion, qualities I hope to model for my students every day. Being part of a community of dedicated professionals who truly value education constantly motivates me to be a better educator.
I am also grateful for the trust and freedom Concordian has given me to explore and implement new strategies in the math program. That flexibility not only allowed me to strengthen the
curriculum but also encouraged me to grow as an educator. In many ways, Concordian has shaped me into a more reflective teacher and a more compassionate person.
Impact: Please share more about your role as Vice-Principal of Student Life.
In my role as Vice-Principal of Student Life, I have the privilege of focusing on the parts of school that bring joy, connection, and balance to our students’ lives. Beyond academics, I help oversee programs like community engagement, student government, bonding trips, and student-led clubs. These activities give students a chance to discover who they are outside of the classroom.
What I love most is seeing students step into leadership roles or discover a passion they never knew they had. Whether it’s helping others through a service project, planning a school event, or simply learning to work as a team on a bonding trip, these experiences shape their confidence and character. My hope is that when students look back on their time at Concordian, they will not only remember what they learned in class, but also the friendships, the experiences, and the lessons in resilience and empathy that came from these non-academic moments.
Secondary Counseling Department
As the new academic year unfolds at Concordian International School, the Secondary Counseling Department has been actively engaged in the Grade 9 and 10 Bonding Trips. These experiences remain invaluable in strengthening relationships between students and staff, while also fostering collaboration, trust, and essential life skills.
The department also accompanied Grades 11 and 12 on the University Preparation and IB Retreats, which provided students with key insights into the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the IB Diploma and beyond. These events are carefully designed to equip our students with the skills and tools they need for academic success and university readiness. The success of all these trips reflects the dedication of many across the school, and we are deeply appreciative of the ongoing support from Khun Varnnee, Khun Kay, Mr. Markus, and the Service Department team.
Our Social Emotional Counseling team continues to support students across the grade levels as follows:
· Ms. Bee guides Grades 6–7, helping students navigate the early years of secondary school.
· Ms. Sze Wan works closely with Grades 8–9, supporting students through critical stages of development and fostering resilience as they balance academic and social challenges.
· Ms. Lindsay supports Grades 10–12, assisting students as they manage the demands of upper secondary school and prepare for life beyond Concordian.
Their dedication to wellbeing and personal growth remains central to our mission to nurture every student. We are also fortunate to have Dr. Tresa back at Concordian as a consultant to our department, lending her expertise and wealth of experience to support our students.
We encourage both students and parents to stay engaged, whether by reaching out for guidance, sharing concerns, or exploring new opportunities. Together, we look forward to another year of supporting our community in meaningful and impactful ways.
Mr. Tony McMullen Head of Secondary Counseling
Welcome Back from MSSG
On behalf of the MSSG, we welcome everyone back to school! We’re excited to start off another great school year together, we hope you have fun this year. The Middle School Student Government (MSSG) is here to represent you and your grade level, plan events, and help make our school a better place for you. We’ll work to build a community where the student body feels heard.
In the past year, many fundraisers and events have been done by the MSSG. We try our best to help the student body have a more enjoyable experience through events such as the Valentines Dance where students get to enjoy a variety of activities with their friends. MSSG has also made multiple fundraisers, such as the dunk tank during festival of love where both teachers and students took part in. We also incorporated sports through the house competitions where students got to take part in sport activities that were voted on. We hope that the student body has enjoyed the last year and we hope to make the following year even better.
As a whole new team with new people coming from the PYP, we are very eager to start a whole new year! This year, our MSSG team aims to enhance communication between students and teachers for a better community with exciting events planned by us, and to ensure every voice is heard. This year we look forward to welcoming the G6 students and developing fresh ideas from a new team that is very excited to serve the MS student body.
Sincerely,
Kao G8 (Media Officer), Dol G8(Events Officer), and Neala G7 (Advocacy Officer)
Welcome Back from HSSG
As the high school student government, our primary duty is to serve the student body by advocating for the interests and well being of students. This year, we have planned a multitude of events for you to enjoy, including but not limited to the Secondary School Talent Show, House Competitions, and Spirit Weeks. One major change being implemented this school year is in relation to houses. A larger emphasis will be placed on houses, as high school students are being split into different homerooms based on house colour. Furthermore, house shirts will be worn every Wednesday. Our favourite aspect of this is the splitting of house competitions; during house competitions, students may choose to participate in either a sport or academic event. Stay tuned!
We believe that these changes will help foster a larger sense of community within the school, uniting students and keeping school spirit high at the same time.
Feel free to approach any of the HSSG representatives if you have ideas that can bring positive change to the high school. Let’s improve our school together, one step at a time.
Best regards,
The HSSG 2025/26
Representatives:
Class of 2026 - Katie, Otto
Class of 2027 - Atta, Cheeno, Plum, Rika

High School Clubs
Wishing Well
Founded by passionate students, WishingWell aims to help elderly individuals in elderly homes, providing a sense of comfort and warmth to those in local senior centers. Alongside that, this club also intends to provide a service opportunity for younger generations to build intergenerational connections and be a part of a heartwarming experience in contributing back to society.
After nearly a year of planning, WishingWell is ready to make a difference by not only engaging with the senior community but also encouraging intergenerational connections with our Concordian community. This club was established as a result of our young founder’s strong inspiration from a school trip experience to Wattana Niwat Foundation, a senior center in Khaoyai. Despite the small acts of playing Bingo and dancing alongside them, the difference made was truly significant. The heartwarming smiles on the seniors’ faces created a unique form of joy that was rooted in the heart of service.
WishingWell aims to promote the overall well-being of senior citizens through friendly visits, meaningful conversations, social interactions, and wellness exercises. Many seniors often face isolation and loneliness, alongside decreased mobility and strength. With this topic at hand, WishingWell intends to create purposeful activities to improve both physical and mental health by not just offering assistance but also genuine connection. Additionally, WishingWell aims to encourage students to build compassion and awareness surrounding other generations and communities, while also growing as individuals.
With one final statement, we are embarking on this journey with a purpose: to build “a well of kindness for every generation”.
Earn G11 - Wishing Well co-president and founder.
Green Heart Collective
This summer, members of the Greenheart Collective joined hands with Furnish Hope, a student-led project focused on up-cycling discarded wood into functional furniture (e.g, desks, chairs, and lunch tables) for schools in need.
Thanks to generous support from the school, especially Mr. Clynt’s Romeo and Juliet production which raised an incredible 41,199 THB, we were able to build 16 sets of lunch tables and benches for Khlong Palat Priang School. With guidance from Perfect Furniture Group, a furniture company in Thailand, we were able to hand-build the table sets ourselves, particularly the assembly process which took two long days! This project gave our members practical experience in woodworking and also showed us how sustainable design and teamwork can make a tangible difference.
Furnish Hope has previously carried out projects in Nakhon Ratchasima, Mae Sot, and Ang Thong, and we are proud that Concordian’s contribution continues this positive change—both in terms of sustainability and social impact. This also aligns with the Greenheart Collective’s goal of focusing on environmentally -friendly solutions to problems within our community.
When we delivered the final products, we could see the joy on the students’ faces, which reminded us that sustainability and service can go hand in hand to create real impact. We look forward to participating in more projects like this in the future!
Pote - G12- club co-president
Habitat For Humanity
The Habitat for Humanity Club gives students the chance to take part in meaningful, hands-on service. Last year, members of the club fundraised and attended two site builds in Pathum Thani and Ayuttaya, where we worked together to help construct homes for local families. We had the opportunity to learn from a professional how to mix cement from scratch and spread it into the foundations of the houses, making the work enjoyable and rewarding. We were able to try new skills such as tying wire and reinforcing the foundations, giving us a glimpse into the real effort and precision that goes into building a safe, secure home.
One of the most memorable moments was when we formed a line to pass heavy buckets of cement from person to person, reminding us of how much we can achieve when everyone contributes. Members of the club were supportive of one another, making the experience pleasant despite the workload. By the end of each day, we were exhausted but proud to see the visible progress we had made together. The experience in Pathum Thani and Ayutthaya showed us that teamwork, perseverance, and empathy is essential to accomplish big projects.
Rika - G11 - club co-president
Seed of Hope
Greetings! We are SOH (Seed of Hope), a service club which is dedicated towards environmental conservation efforts and mangrove reforestation. Our aim is to bring the community together — closer than ever — and get ourselves immersed in the mud! This year, we wish to achieve planting a total of 1,000+ mangrove seedlings. More so, to raise awareness about the importance of mangrove forests and how this particular ecosystem is such a crucial piece of our everyday lives.
This year, the club is not only going to be adding more planting trips and interesting excursions for our members, but more so, the club is going to host trips for the public! We encourage everyone in the community to join us on our community planting trips, enjoy the sun and soak in the mud! We promise, it might seem intimidating at first, but it is truly therapeutic. Talk about a natural therapy which is free of charge!
This year the club is introducing two new projects: Rooted Bites, which is a combination of organic food stands with educational content, and our Organic Fertilizer Project, which aims to create an even more sustainable fertilizer than your average eggshell or animal feces! We hope everyone will take part in our journey, and support us along the way.
Together, we make an impact.
Sincerely,
Maggie & Joanne (co-presidents of Seed of Hope)
Community Engagement & Appreciation Day 2025
During the last week of last Academic Year, the Secondary School hosted its third annual Community Engagement & Appreciation Day which helped showcase how important service and community engagement is to the Concordian community through a variety of exhibitions, interactive activities, and displays of appreciation. One large change this year, however, was to make the day more inclusive of the entire secondary school, not just MYP students, and also included a session for parents.
As has been the case with the previous events, the day was divided into three clear, and different sessions - Action, Sharing and Fun.
First thing in the morning, when the students were full of energy, we undertook Action.
During this session, students rotated between four activities: sorting recycling, packing care packages to be delivered to three of our Middle School Community Engagement partners, interacting with a community-centered art activity, and writing thank you notes to members of the Concordian community that help to create a safe learning environment for us year round.
The recycling activity saw students help teachers clear recyclables from their classrooms, as well as sorting out recyclable material from their lockers, and recyclable materials that had been collected throughout the year.
The care package activity was sponsored by one of our high school service clubs, Food For All, and students helped pack bags with food and toiletries which were then delivered to Baan Nokkamin, Concordia Day Care, and Foundation for Slum Child Care, Onnut. All the products that were packed had been bought from funds that Food For All had raised throughout the year.
The community-based art activity was created and overseen by Mr. Patrick and Ms. Abby, and saw students create plasticine models of members of our Concordian community, with different colored plasticine representing several members of the community.
And the final activity of the morning saw students writing thank you notes to all members of the Concordian community working on campus, from teachers to administration, from security guards to gardeners, from technicians to drivers - all members were represented, and students had a chance to thank everyone for making our school what it is.
After the active morning session, it was time to move on to Sharing.
During this session, students rotated through three locations, two of which involved interactive games about different parts of our Concordian community, and the third the Community Engagement Fair. During the fair, students got the opportunity to interact with all the service clubs, as well as teachers who were sharing what service they have done in their lives. The activity allows all students to see what is being done by the whole Concordian community in regards to service and community engagement.
For the final activity of the Sharing session, we had the privilege of welcoming a special guest speaker, Khun Kanokewan Wuttithamrong (Khun Ja), who spoke about “Inspiring Change Through Community.” In her speech, she shared her journey that led her to realize the importance of community, which ultimately led her to initiate various philanthropic projects and organizations. Khun Ja shared her experiences in founding organizations such as “Kula,” and running events such as the “A Night To Remember” and “Voices For Change” charity concerts as well.
After working and sharing all morning, it was finally time for Fun. During this session, the students took part in a sporting activity that was meant to show possible ways to fundraise for worthy causes, and as has been the case in previous years, this was done through a dodgeball competition; a popular game that students love to play. It was during this time, too, where parents were invited to walk through the Community Engagement Fair where service club presidents were present to answer any questions parents had about their clubs’ activities.
As with previous years, our third edition of the Community Engagement & Appreciation Day was a wonderful day that allowed our secondary students to share their community engagement experiences from the academic year, as well as come together to give thanks to each other, and continue to make our community a giving, appreciative and caring place.

Grade 11 DP Retreat
The first time I heard of the DP retreat, I was stumped as to what it was. I'd searched up the meaning of the word, and apparently 'retreat' meant withdrawing from 'enemy forces'. It made me chuckle knowing that DP was the 'enemy force' in this case, but still, no clear expectations popped into my mind. Fast forward to the release of the dreaded packing list, I was even more perplexed when I saw the amount of T-shirts and shoes required for this 3 day trip, because why would anyone in their right minds pack 5 sets of clothing?
The first day started off pretty light. We visited an orphanage and took care of the children. We also learned about the orphanage's history and how most orphans ended up there. It was truly eye-opening, and me along with the rest of my peers now hold massive respect for the sisters and volunteers who dedicate their time to take care of the orphans every single day. After that, we arrived at Pattana Sports Resort and, of course, were introduced to the (in)famous obstacle course. The twist, though, was that it was raining that day. We weren't going to be able to go out... unless we did it soaking wet. And so we did. And man was it fun! I had sand in my socks, dirt on my face, and the backing of both my shoes had peeled off. Everyone's legs and arms were scratched and bleeding at some point, but it didn't really matter. The rain made the experience ten-times better!
The fun didn't end there, though. We had a movie night (which shouldn't have been a stressful experience, but was. I swear I was contemplating quitting going to university), the buggy building challenge (our cart twisted in on itself), the gym session (mind you it was not a normal gym session), the kayaking (don't get me started on the amount of times I fell into the water), and finally, the bonfire! (a marshmallow stick caught on fire, and everyone was scream-singing into the microphone).
And yet, I would do it all over again.
Now, when I hear of the DP retreat, I still kind of am stumped as to what it all was. Was it to make up for having no PHE in DP? Or was it to scare us before university apps next year? Either way, one thing was for sure: I won't get to spend much time like this with my friends anymore after graduation. And man did that hit hard. So, thank you to the DP retreat for everything!
Rika G11
The Grade 11 Class of 2027 recently went on our DP Retreat in Pattaya, and it was an experience none of us will forget. We began at the Pattaya Orphanage, where we learned about the children’s lives while also being inspired by how many of them attend university and succeed in different careers. Talking with the kids, serving them food, and seeing their smiles made the visit both meaningful and memorable.
After that we moved to Pattana Sports Resort. The rain did not stop us from charging straight into the obstacle course. What started as a challenge quickly turned into mud, puddles, chaos, and endless laughter. The rope and water course became a highlight, especially once both students and teachers joined in, which made it feel like pure fun instead of just an activity. Movie night and the presentations by Mr. Markus and Mr. Tony motivated us to take on the DP journey with a clearer sense of the road to university.
The second day was packed with gym workouts, buggy building, and kayaking before ending around the campfire with marshmallows and music. Most of all, the trip strengthened our friendships. To wrap it up, the food was honestly amazing.

Grade 12 University Preparation Trip
Our work with Grade 12 began this year with our annual University Preparation trip to Khao Yai. After settling into our accommodation, it was all systems go as students spent the first day working on important university tasks. Over the whole weekend we worked on finalizing university lists, checked documentation, updated CVs, signed up for application systems such as Common App and UCAS. In between these group sessions, we also spent valuable time working individually with students on university essays, Thai medical portfolios, and art portfolios.
On the second day, we visited the Khao Yai Art Forest late in the afternoon. This beautiful and inspiring space allowed us to appreciate both creativity and nature while learning about its cultural and artistic significance. The visit provided a reflective and energizing break from the intensive work earlier in the day, and it was a memorable highlight of the weekend.
The University Trip remains a key part of our students’ journey to higher education, giving them the opportunity to complete many of the small but essential tasks they need to prepare strong applications. The Counseling Department would like to thank Khun Varnnee and Khun Kay for all of their support and hard work over the weekend.

Interview with Wah Wah, Na Na, Rynn Rynn and Sean Piamkulawanich's Family
I still vividly remember the day our first child stepped into Concordian. It was a day filled with both excitement and challenges for our family. What gave us the greatest comfort was the genuine care shown by the teachers and staff. They looked after our child so closely that it took only a short time for them to adjust to the new environment and begin their learning journey with a smile and happiness every single day.
From that day until now—almost ten years later—our four children have grown alongside the school. I have witnessed their remarkable and tangible development, not only academically but also in self-confidence, critical thinking, courage to express themselves, leadership, and the natural use of three languages. They have also learned to respect others, to be understanding, and to embrace diversity—values that are truly essential in life.
What makes us happiest as parents is seeing our four children wake up each morning with smiles and eagerness to go to school. For us, Concordian is not just a place of learning but a second home—warm, safe, and attentive to both academics and emotional well-being.
We are deeply impressed by the IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum, which challenges and inspires children to learn through inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on experience. It provides them with the opportunity to grow in a well-rounded way and prepares them for a world that is constantly changing. Moreover, the school continuously develops and improves—be it in curriculum, learning environment, or support systems that help students reach their full potential. Importantly, Concordian is always open to listening to parents’ feedback, making us feel like an integral part of this learning community.
Another unique quality that sets Concordian apart is that, while being an international school that exposes students to global diversity, it also preserves Thai traditions beautifully. Children are taught to be polite, respectful, humble, and considerate—values that our family holds and hopes our children will carry with them throughout their lives.
Concordian is a community built with heart. The Board of Trustees team, teachers, staff, parents, and students are all part of one family. For us, this school has given far more than just education—it has become a second home that nurtures our children to grow with confidence, self-awareness, empathy, and a strong foundation for life that they will carry with them on every step of their journey ahead.
As Concordian celebrates its 25th anniversary, we are excited to begin a new chapter in our dining services. We are thrilled to welcome About Food Co., Ltd., a member of the Bhiraj Buri Group , as our new catering partner.
About Food brings over 25 years of food and beverage expertise to our community. Founded in 2013, they have managed restaurants and hospitality services at BITEC and now bring that experience to schools through their specialized "Cassia by About Food" and "Wish Cafe by Roots" brands.
What makes this partnership special is their thoughtful approach to student dining. Every meal is prepared with organic and traceable ingredients, served with genuine care for our young diners' wellbeing. About Food holds international certifications in food hygiene and safety (including FDA, GHPs, GMP, TMVS, AMVS, TIS 22300, ISO 14001, and ISO 20121), ensuring the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
We are looking forward to introducing new menus, exciting dishes, and an enhanced dining experience that supports the health and happiness of every student, every teacher, every staff member! This partnership truly sets an even higher benchmark for school dining where nutrition, safety, and excellent service come together .
