CWEF continues to provide opportunities to foster social responsibility within China which translate into transformative experiences for Concordia students and families. Erin Short and Linda Curry We are so fortunate to be able to give back to our community. Tonight, all proceeds will go to our student found charity YEP (Youth Empowered Progress). On a school trip to Yunnan in 2002, our students had the insight to realize that people in this area did not have some of the basic needs that our students were privileged with, and they wanted to do something about it. Since then, over 45,000 people have been impacted through the various projects that our students have supported and funded. They have provided clean water systems for over 5,500 people, scholarships for nearly 2,000 low income students across all grade levels, and school resources including, books, furniture, teaching supplies, and sports equipment for over 12,000 students. YEP continues to grow and work hard towards helping those in need. We are truly blessed to be a part of this! Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who made this event come to life. We would like to recognize our corporate and event sponsors, as well as all of the people and businesses who donated for the auction. We would like to thank Kelly Jo and Bo, who helped guide us through this process. We have such an amazing community around us! Partners in Change: YEP & CWEF Three Concordia students started the Yunnan Education Project (YEP) in 2002 following a school service trip to work with the Concordia Welfare and Education Foundation (CWEF) in China’s Yunnan province. Since its inception, YEP has helped improve the lives of villagers in Yunnan through health education, sanitation projects, and clean water systems. YEP was renamed Youth Empowering Progress in 2014 to better reflect the breadth of the charity now encompassing cross-division involvement by students from the YEP club to the hallmark of high school TrIBES educational and service trips. This great act of generosity had given us something worth more than any other reward we could have received. Auction Format Definitions Big Board Big Board showcases items differently so they don't get lost in the crowd. While the display is unique, the bidding style is the same as Classic Silent Auction or Sealed Bid auction as indicated on the item.

AUCTION FORMAT DEFINITIONS 14

Classic Live Auction (English Auction) Also known as an open ascending price auction, this type of auction is arguably the most common form of auction in use today. Participants bid openly against one another, with each subsequent bid higher than the previous bid. The auction ends when no participant is willing to bid further, at which point the highest bidder pays their bid and wins the item. Classic Silent Auction This style of auction is a variant of an English auction where bids are written on a sheet of paper. At the predetermined end of the auction the highest listed bidder wins the item. This auction is often used in charity events, with many items auctioned simultaneously with a common finish time. The auction is "silent" in that there is no auctioneer as bidders write their bids on a bidding sheet often left on a table near the item. The highest bidder pays the price he or she submitted and wins the item. Fishbowl Auction In a fishbowl auction, customers buy a number of tickets for a set price. Buyers are free to purchase as many tickets as they wish to place in the fishbowl. At the close of the auction, the winning ticket for each item is then drawn from the corresponding fishbowl. Pay to Play (P2P) A phrase used for a type of auction in which money is exchanged for the privilege of participating in an opportunity to win that item. The style of play is determined by the organization and one must pay to "get in the game". The winner of the â&#x20AC;&#x153;gameâ&#x20AC;? is the winner of the item being auctioned. Sealed Bid and Blended Sealed Bid Auction In this type of auction all bidders submit sealed bids so that no bidder knows the bid amount of other participants. The highest bidder at the close of the period pays the price they submitted. For our auction, the winner will be selected from a combination of email submissions and physical sealed bids received on the night of the gala and auction. These items are designated as Blended Sealed Bid in this catalog. Buy-in Party This type of party is sold at a fixed price to a maximum number of guests. If there is a line left on the bid sheet, space is still available at the party. Place your Bid Number in any open line and you are guaranteed a slot at the party. Once the allotted number of guests has been filled, the party is closed.

• All items in this auction are sold “as is” with no express or implied

• We have attempted to describe and catalog all items accurately. No

statement contained in this catalog or made orally during the auction shall be deemed a warranty or representation about the items’ authenticity, condition or value.

• Reservations for trips and vacation accommodations and redemption

of other prize certificates must be arranged with the donor unless otherwise noted. AUCTION GUIDELINES

• The Opening Bid Amount for every item or grouping of items is noted on the first line of each item’s Bid Sheet. The first bidder on each item or grouping of items may start the bidding equal to or greater than the Opening Bid Amount. • Carefully note the Minimum Bid Increase indicated on each Bid Sheet. Each new bid must increase the previous bid by the Minimum Bid Increase, otherwise the bid is considered void. • To make a bid, use a ballpoint pen to legibly write your Bid Number (found in your Information Packet), bid amount and name below the previous bid on the Bid Sheet. • If the bid number and amount is complete at the sound of the gong at closing time, the bid will be valid, even without the name. • The highest bid on each item at the item’s specified closing time is the winning bid. Due to the large number of items in this event, any item whose winner is not immediately apparent will be considered “Unresolved,” and will be addressed by the Marketing Department no later than Wednesday following the event. • Winning Bid Number will be posted on a board in the foyer by item number at the conclusion of the Silent Auction (approximately 10:45 p.m.).

Begins After Main Course Finishes (approximately 9:00 p.m.) • All auction attendees may bid as often as they wish. • To bid on an item, raise your Bid Number (found in your Information Packet). Wait until your bid is acknowledged by the auctioneer before lowering your number. • Auction items will be awarded to one bidder only. • When the bidding on an item is complete, the auctioneer will confirm the number of the winning bidder and the amount of the winning bid.

PAYMENT & ITEM COLLECTION

Checkout will NOT be available until 15 minutes after Big Board closes (approximately 10:45 p.m.) • Step #1:

COLLECT INVOICE: Collect your Bid Number Invoice and choose your method of payment and proceed to the correct station. Cash or check is preferred as Concordia must bear the cost of credit card transaction fees (up to 5%) which will reduce the net proceeds for the project and for YEP.
