At long last, the nation’s favourite pubs and bars have reopened their beer gardens this Spring after what felt like a brutal, never-ending stretch of being closed.

Anywhere in England with an outdoor space may now serve drinks and food; allowing households or socially distant friends to sit together in a waterproofed space, complete with electric heaters and an outdoor bar gives you the opportunity to continue to operate.

Many venues with outdoor hospitality used the time offered by lockdown to adapt their beer garden, terrace, patio or even car park into a revenue boosting drinking and dining area. Some projects were exceptionally easy to be put into action, take for example the construction of a stretch tent at the Methuen Arms. Others, like The Wharf, needed months of construction works to build a summary, sun-soaked overwater terrace.

The Pavillion Arms 41 Wimborne Rd, Bournemouth BH2 6NB Design | Build | Furnish

Formerly the Dean Park Inn, this newly refurbished Bournemouth pub with 10 beautiful boutique bedrooms, is located just 15 minutes’ walk from the town centre and its famous beaches.

The pub has been renamed in a nod to the nearby cricket ground, and you can expect a full interior and exterior refurb and plenty of Butcombe beer behind the bar.

The Pavilion Arms’ stylish bedrooms are full of personal touches, with super comfy beds and stunning bathrooms. The beds are the real showstoppers with their framed, farmhousestyle headboards. New bedside and pendant lights have a soft glow that is restful and creates a warm and relaxing atmosphere.

The pub keeps it cosy with a crowd-drawing fireplace and original rustic wooden panelling which really works with botanical wallpaper and flowering indoor plants.

Much of the furniture has been salvaged and restored, especially vintage pieces and any opulent or traditional seating. They are accompanied by gilded mirrors, deco paintings, rows of deep buttoned fixed seating and thick curtains. Even the new waiter station combines function and practicality with it's eye-catching and intricate carved detailing.

The joy of traditional rooms is that they can be totally individual, with furniture and decor that's unique to each room. In the case of the Pavilion Arms, the rooms have embraced clashing patterns and textures for the better.

Outside, the covered terrace area and beer garden are perfect spaces for al fresco drinking and dining. Planters and jumbrellas create pockets of privacy, perfect for sitting there on a sunny day with a drink in hand, surrounded by friends.

Their traditional, contemporary feel is further accentuated with decorative pieces such as black windowpane mirrors, large, upholstered benches, classic wooden desks and soft-touch velvet lounge chairs in bright contemporary colours.

The Pavilion Arms is another welcome addition to Butcombe’s estate and Bournemouth’s visitors or residents. The design has embraced the heritage of the building and the Butcombe brand, it has a fascinating story to tell which is expressed at every corner.

The pub has been designed to suit the period and decorative style of the building whilst expressing the charm and personality that is expected of all Butcombe venues.

Victoria Arms Mill Ln, Marston, Oxford OX3 0QA Design | Build | Furnish

Situated on the banks of the River Cherwell in Old Marston, the Victoria is a stunning riverside pub and restaurant. Newly refurbished, the Victoria now offers traditional pub charm with beautiful interiors, a heated pergola terrace, and huge beer gardens overlooking the river.

The redesign of the bar, waiter and coffee stations along with an improved furniture layout encourages better circulation of visitors and has had a positive effect on the comfort, liveability and ambiance of the Victoria Arms.

The room is a gorgeous example of deploying floral and nature-filled prints which reflect the design style expected in the period the building was constructed with its luxurious Tudor and Georgian design influences.

Lockdown has been an immense challenge but also gave The Victoria Arms the opportunity to look at how they could provide guests with an even greater dining experience.

The library style dining room uses all its vertical space with its bespoke bookshelves and heavy, floor to ceiling curtains which accentuate the height of the room and also frame the shape of the windows.

Outdoor renovations have added to the ambiance of the restaurant and provide a warm and welcoming al fresco space for socially distant dining. The new pergola with heating and planting is atmospheric and plenty of new furniture including rows of fixed seating will allow diners to sit safely in groups of 6.

In the dining area the dark pallet is enlivened with House of Hackney floral wallpaper and patterned materials to the furniture.

The refurbishment has created a pub with a killer set-up that goes beyond a well-stocked cabinet of booze, it’s a well-crafted sociable space that welcomes customers whether they are there to drink or dine. The design suits the personality of the Butcombe brand and has many well-loved features that send a powerful message.

Concorde BGW Enters the School Market

Silverways School London St. Andrews Parish Centre, Silver St, Enfield EN1 3EG Design | Build

Silverways is a brand-new independent specialist school that has been developed to accommodate children’s sensory needs and create the best setting for them to learn and succeed.

The welcoming and nurturing school provides a first-class education for up to 50 children aged between seven and 16, in small classes, where the curriculum is designed and delivered according to needs of the learners.

Previously a Parish Centre, the building was transformed by installing a steel-framed mezzanine deck to what was once a full-height sports hall which added a completely new floor to accommodate students.

The steel structure also allowed for major structural changes, demolishing walls to open up spaces to form bright and airy classrooms.

Construction works were also carried out to modernise the building and bring together its various extensions.

A full mechanical and electrical design, installation, and commissioning package updated the inner workings of the building and allowed for the installation of a new commercial kitchen.

Covid-19 has affected the UK leisure and hospitality industry in different ways, from initial closure to adjusting to social distancing rules and dealing with the operational challenges when lockdown restrictions eased.

Sit & Sip Horsham Piries Place, Horsham RH12 1DG Design | Build | Furnish

Experience a truly premium drinking experience in the Tasting Bar, relax in comfort in the Lounge Room or treat yourself to your favourite tastes to take away from the Bottle Shop.

The design of the place is very creative, cool, urban and unique to Sit & Sip. Neon signs with words that are personal to them “Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder” truly reflect on the Sit & Sip brand – strong and popular, just like their beers.

The walls are clad in reclaimed wood, the chevron effect elevates the room and can be seen again in the made to measure tabletops.

Bespoke wallpaper draws attention to Sit & Sips one-of-a-kind beer making process and centrally, a bottle display unit with industrial black metal work is both useful and decorative.

The bar front is vintage and made from reclaimed panels finished off with a mosaic tile bar apron stamped with the words Sit and Sip. Timeless accent chairs and sofas combined with rows of booth seating mean there is plenty of space for guests to lounge and gather with friends and family.

Combing classic form with vibrant colours, teal blue and neon yellow is intentional, not only to influence the perception of the bar (cool and trendy) but these colour combinations are seen across their logo, marketing materials, merchandise, and social media. Its a compelling colour combination reflected within the building to ensure a consistent brand story.

The Horse & Guardsman, Westminster

The Horse and Guardsman will be a smart, wood-panelled traditional London pub in the West End, Westminster, previously the premises of bankers Messrs Cocks Biddulph & co. It's interior mirrors that of a Victorian build with high ceilings, arched windows and plenty of space to enjoy a traditional pint in the heart of London.

Swinton Park Another major development for the Concorde team on a luxury estate in Yorkshire that is both beautiful and uniquely original.

Here we are reinstating original window openings with local stone and bespoke sash windows to match the existing ones on site. We are also completing the crucial refurbishment of the clocktower to restore it to its former glory.

Project Coffee, Swindon

Iford Manor

For this project we will be constructing a new cafe and restaurant which will provide lunches, afternoon tea and snacks to garden visitors and walkers alike, with a large outside seating area and views over the valley.

The Langford Inn Located in the heart of Lower Langford, on the edge of the Mendip Hills AONB, the Langford is a historic village pub dating back to the 17th century.

Newly refurbished inside and out, the Langford boasts beautiful new interiors and 7 boutique bedrooms.
