We believe that happy, healthy team members are the key to a productive and successful business where people thrive so we have made looking after our teams a priority. We have invested heavily into providing the right resources and support and make our Concorde Westfield Health scheme available to all.

The scheme allows you to claim money back, up to set limits, towards the cost of your essential healthcare, as well as providing access to valuable health and wellbeing services.

With Westfield Health you will also have discounts from shops to gyms, to cash back on purchases.

The mental health of our people is really important to us and we have professionally trained Mental Health First Aiders on the team to lend a friendly ear whenever it’s needed. We are also proud to be members of the Mindful Employers scheme and wellbeing is a key feature of our regular team reviews.

We also provide free fresh fruit, squashes and cordials, along with the usual endless supply of tea and coffee to help fuel you while you are at work.

Over the last few years we have invested in bespoke systems and new IT equipment and software to ensure that our teams have the tools and resources they need to do their jobs easily and effectively.

We believe that to stay ahead of the competition and keep being the best in our field that we need to continue to be open to new ideas, new markets and better ways of doing things. You will never hear us say “but we’ve always done it like that” and we actively encourage our people to share their ideas and suggestions.

Regular training, team away days, team meetings and sharing company information and updates are just some of the ways we try to create opportunities for our teams to innovate and work together to come up with fresh ideas and new solutions to day-to-day

The Good Stuff

And we like to think it’s why we have team members who have been at Concorde for over 10 years and many who started their careers with us and have stayed with us as they have progressed. We are big on promoting from within and giving the training and opportunity to help you take that next step.

We love to celebrate peoples achievements and successes, both professional and personal, as well as supporting them through the tougher times that life sometimes throws at us.

We recognise and reward hard work and we like to party with regular company funded socials, both in and out of the office, including company wide all expenses paid social events.

We also have team nominations to reward those who have gone above and beyond, company awards at the end of the year for our star players, Feast Friday with free lunch every month and every one gets a little treat on their birthday. These are just a few of the things you can look forward to as part of life at Concorde.

Concorde Cares

Charity events have always been a big thing for us and it’s something we encourage everyone to be a part of. Events have included X-Runner, cycling the distance from Lands End to John O’Groats, Bake Sales, Cash for Kids, Christmas Jumper Day and Food Bank donations among many other things.

Our “Good-Eggs” charity group, made up of team members, arrange and champion our charity events and other initiatives such as volunteering opportunities and are always looking for new ideas.

The RSPCA, local foodbanks, our local NHS Trust and many more charities have benefitted from our fund raising and we are always looking for new ways to support them. We like to make fundraising as fun and easy as possible and to make it a part of our day-to-day life in the offices with things like a charity tuckshop and Concorde does The Great British Bake Off. If there’s anything we love, it’s the chance to have a guilt free snack or cake!

We also look for practical ways to help the charities and local areas we work with such as donating building materials, providing help and expertise to support career days and skills initiatives in schools and running a pet food bank in the office. It’s really important for us to be a part of the wider community and support where we can.

13

We are always expanding our team’s skill sets with extensive training and development opportunities available for professional improvement. We also have our own dedicated online training portal to make it as easy as possible for our teams to keep up to date with essential compliance courses.

Extra Goodies

It might come as a surprise But the Directors like to surprise the team, anything from ice creams on a hot day, to early finishes, Christmas beers to coffees… who knows what treats we will get. Our Directors love nothing better than rewarding our teams for their hard work and finding little ways of showing people that they really are valued. It’s their way to say an extra thank you!

At Concorde we know that work is a big part of life and we believe that it should be enjoyable and rewarding. We are always looking for ways of making Concorde an even better place to work and somewhere people choose to develop their careers. New ideas are always welcome - you will see Lego Heads around the office. Which people can use to put their ideas in our heads!

We regularly do team surveys and ask for feedback on life at Concorde to help us tailor our treats and rewards so that we are keeping things fresh. We know that it’s the little things that count and that while a “thank you” is really important and you’ll hear it said often, sometimes actions speak louder than words. That’s why we love surprising our teams with the occasional treat!

16

All of our lovely team members have had different Concorde journeys which have taken them to where they are now, their own progress has in turn helped the business to progress and we couldn’t be prouder of them and the business they represent. They each have a tale to tell, and here are a few…

17

Sophie Oldfield (Operations Director)

I began my Concorde journey many moons ago (2010!) as a Junior Designer having graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in Interior Design. I always wanted to be an interior designer from a young age, I even remember running home from Brownies as a child to watch Changing Rooms – I was hooked!

My passion for design and the amazing projects I got to work on here at Concorde meant I was gradually promoted to a Mid-weight and then Senior Designer. From there my career path began to change and I became really interested in the culture aspects of the company, and I joined the board of directors to advise on company culture and innovation within the business. Following a recent restructure, and the arrival of my little daughter, I have since changed roles to Operations Director, and I am so excited to get stuck in with overall company processes, day to day running, continued innovation and improvement as well as developing our strategy for growth.

Every day and every project at Concorde is different, and so are the people – all amazing in their own way, be it personality, talent, and general daftness, and I absolutely love working here!!!

Harry Simpson (Senior Quantity Surveyor)

I first came to Concorde as a placement student while I was studying for my degree in Quantity Surveying. My placement year here gave me so much experience and knowledge and I learned things I wouldn’t have picked up at uni. When Concorde offered me a position after finishing my degree I jumped at the chance to return as I knew this would be a great place to start my career with lots of opportunities to develop and progress.

Working for Concorde sees you work on a diverse range of projects as part of a dedicated team that’s made up of experienced individuals at the top of their game. Challenging projects inspire Concorde to think outside the box with innovative designs and processes that are exciting to be a part of. As part of the build team I get to play a part in the transformation of 2D designs into completed projects all of which are rewarding both visually and educationally. No project is alike and each offer a chance to learn and develop in your role.

18

Mike Milner (FM Engineer)

I joined Concorde back in 2018 to work as part of the Facilities Management team as a Multi-Skilled Operative. I work on a range of jobs, large and small, dealing with anything and everything that our clients might need to keep their businesses running smoothly and their properties in excellent condition.

There is a huge amount of variety in the work - I might be dealing with a broken window in the morning and then getting someones electrics back on in the afternoon. I get a lot of satisfaction from solving problems and providing our customers with first rate service with a smile.

Concorde provide me with the tools and training I need to do a great job and I know I can call on the team if I need anything. It’s a brilliant place to work if you like to be busy and there is always something interesting going on!

Stuart Jackson (Head of Contracts)

I have been with Concorde since the early days and have done a variety of roles over the years including driver, labourer, apprentice joiner, site manager and many more! I feel really lucky to have joined a company that have supported me to achieve qualifications such as SMSTS and to work my way up through the business.

I now run the contracts teams and manage the delivery of our projects, overseeing and working with our Site Managers and site teams to ensure that projects are completed on time and to our high standards. Concorde has given me so many opportunities over the years and have always provided me with the support, training and encouragement I have needed to progress and keep building my skills and knowledge.

No two days are the same and I work with some great people and for me that’s what it’s all about.

19

Cerys Smith (Started as Administration Assistant Apprentice)

I came to Concorde as a Business Administration Apprentice and my first role was working on Reception answering calls and greeting visitors. I instantly loved the busy, team vibe in the office and everyone was so helpful and friendly that it was easy to settle in and learn the ropes.

During my apprenticeship I had the chance to work with many different departments such as Health & Safety, Accounts and Project Coordination which was a brilliant way of learning more about the business and developing my admin skills.

My apprenticeship was over in no time and I didn’t want to leave Concorde but luckily there was a full time position that was perfect for me! I am now working as Project Coordinator in the Revivalist team which is a fast paced and varied role which I love. I am still learning and growing all the time and am really grateful for the opportunities the apprenticeship placement has given me.

Issy Cottyn (Senior Designer & Studio Manager)

I began my career as an Interior Designer through an apprenticeship scheme and I had little experience or knowledge at the time but a desire to learn. I started at Concorde as a Junior Designer and throughout the years have managed to develop my skills and knowledge, working on a vast amount of exciting and challenging projects. Thanks to the team here at Concorde who have always supported and encouraged me, I have progressed to become a Senior Designer. This has allowed me to express my creativity and passion as I work on my own projects up and down the country.

Joining a new company can be daunting, however the Designersat Concorde are a group of motivated, committed, and fun individuals, working together as a dynamic team.

I get a huge amount of satisfaction once a project is complete. All the hard work is worth it when you finally see the beautiful space you envisioned become a reality, and a place for people to enjoy and appreciate for many years to come.
