Beginner and advanced students can learn simple techniques to create floral images, animals, portraits or landscapes. The instructor will provide demonstrations, individual help and critiques. You may work in the style of your choice.

Learn to enjoy drawing and painting. Create personal and time treasured keepsakes for family and friends. Experienced instructor, Ann, will provide all levels of instruction covering colored pencils, watercolor and Japanese brush painting.

Dance, Music & Performing Arts

Line Dance Beginners

Ages: 18 years and up

Keep fit, sharpen your memory, release endorphins, laugh, and smile! This is an opportunity for new and returning line dance students to make new friends while learning absolute (if you have never danced before) beginner to slightly higher beginner line dances. It doesn’t feel like exercise but you’re moving and building strength all the same. No class May 26 and June 2.

Line Dance Intermediate

Ages: 18 years and up

This class is designed for those who have already acquired a basic level of dance skill and are ready to move on to more advanced dances. To join, you must have successfully completed the Beginner class or have equivalent experience in Line Dancing. This class is geared towards high beginners and improvers who are looking to further develop their skills and techniques. No class May 24 and May 31.

Ukulele Beginning

Ages: 17 years and up

Learn to have fun playing the ukulele and to strum simple familiar songs like Jambalaya and Blue Hawai’i! You will need: a ukulele, strap. tuner, pencil and a folder or binder for music.

Ukulele Intermediate

Ages: 17 years and up

Learn to read music for ukulele on staff and tabs; pick melodies and harmonies; and play advanced strums, chords and songs. You will need: ukulele, strap, tuner, pencil and a folder or binder for music. Requirements: easily play basic major, minor and 7th chords.

Ukulele Jam Session

Ages: 17 years and up

Kanikapila! That’s Hawaiian style! Music will be provided; mostly Hawaiian. For at least intermediate level (and intrepid experienced beginners) who can play chords and can learn more on your own as we go. No class May 29.

Fun with African Drums & Percussion

Ages: 13-85 years

Drumming is fun, easy and a great way to improve one’s self-esteem while fostering a lasting musical groundwork. Students are introduced to basic, rhythmic and percussive concepts, while discovering the culture, customs and music of Africa. Through tried-and-true teaching techniques and games, the vast world of hand drumming is explored.

French for Beginners

Ages: 13-85 years

Have fun learning to speak and read French the easy way, with interactive games, group activities, pronunciation...and we even read a play! With a focus on French for travelers, this class approaches grammar fundamentals, and learning to communicate in basic French. We will cover gender, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and more, while discovering the French language and its culture. It’s never to late to learn a language, and you will be speaking and understanding everyday French in no time! Seniors welcome!

French for Continuing Beginners –on Zoom

Ages: 13-85 years

Delve into the French language and its culture with interactive games and specific learning techniques designed to get you comfortable and confident in speaking and understanding. A continuation of French Grammar & Conversation for Beginners, this class is for those who would like to improve French skills both in conversation and pronouncing. After reviewing grammar basics, depending on the session, we will cover simple prepositions, verb forms, tenses, vocabulary and more. You’ll be speaking and understanding everyday French in no time! Prereq: A basic understanding of gender, nouns, adjectives and verbs.

Practical Spanish for Beginners – on Zoom

Ages: 18 years and up

How long have you been saying to yourself, “I need to learn Spanish.”? Almost 40% of California residents speak Spanish or come from Spanish speaking backgrounds and that number keeps growing. Spanish is no longer just a nice thing to know; it’s quickly becoming a necessity. Spanish is spoken where we work, the stores where shop, and in our neighborhoods. It’s used everywhere! Spanish is the easiest foreign language for English speakers to learn, with a similar alphabet and many words in common. In this class, no previous Spanish knowledge is assumed. Whether you took two years of high school Spanish or don't know one word, you CAN speak Spanish. You just have to get started!
